Jacapo Sinclair is a supporting character in the first three seasons of The 100.
He was portrayed by Alessandro Juliani.
Description[]
Sinclair was the chief engineer on the Ark. He is loyal and very obedient to his superiors, rarely showing signs of recoil or rebellion. He's also a father figure to Raven Reyes, often giving her advice and cheering her on when she gives up. As revealed in season two, after Raven's heart condition disqualified her to work as a zero-G mechanic, Sinclair overrode the decision because of her talent.
History[]
In season one, Sinclair is responsible for monitoring the hundred delinquents sent to Earth, alongside Abby. He is present when communication has been established with delinquents thanks to Raven. During Diana Sydney's rebellion, Sinclair tries to prevent them from leaving, but this is a failure because the population learned that there would be no room for everyone to leave on the ground. After that, the Ark is made fragile and risks perishing. However, Jaha has the idea of bringing the station down to the ground and remains in space to allow the population to survive. Sinclair survived but Sky People lost several stations.
In season two, Sinclair along with Kane reunites with Bellamy, Finn, and two other delinquents, Sterling and Monroe in the forest. The engineer is then ordered to bring this small group and the survivors of the landing back to the Alpha Station. When Kane returns, he sees the construction supervised by Sinclair who had the idea to name the place "Camp Jaha" in honor of the Chancellor. While going to the dropship of the hundred, he finds Jaha who is leaving for the City of Light with a small group, including Murphy. Later, Sinclair travels to Tondc with Jackson and rescuers to aid the Grounders who have been attacked by Mount Weather with a missile.
In season three, Sky People now use Mount Weather after defeating their tyrants. One evening, he, Raven and Gina, Bellamy's girlfriend, try to find the codes to launch the missiles. Raven, discouraged is re-motivated by Sinclair who says that the Raven he knows never gives up. At this moment, a spy of Azgeda kills Gina and activates the self-destruction of the center. Only Sinclair and Raven were able to make it out alive and the assassin is shot dead. In Arkadia, Charles Pike becomes chancellor and has all the resistance fighters arrested against him. Sinclair, a supporter of the Kane faction, is then tried and imprisoned for treason after attempting to sabotage the Rover. In the prison, he tells Lincoln to prepare for battle. They and Kane are then condemned to death but the latter and Sinclair manage to escape. Later, Sinclair helps free Raven from A.L.I.E.'s control. It is a success and the group returns to Arkadia to look for the program to deactivate the AI. Using his knowledge of Latin, Sinclair figures out the Flame's password "seek higher things," allowing the group to figure out how to activate the AI, the first step in destroying A.L.I.E. Separated from the others and being with Raven, he is stabbed by Carl Emerson, a former guard at Mount Weather. He can only beg Raven to stay in the Rover before he dies from his injuries. Sinclair's death is avenged shortly thereafter when she kills Emerson with the Flame using the password that Sinclair had figured out shortly before his death to activate it. His body is later burned alongside Lincoln's.
In season four, Sinclair returns as a hallucination as Raven battles the worsening brain damage that she sustained from A.L.I.E. just as Raven is about to give up and go to space to die. Sinclair urges Raven to live and helps her go through the problem. With Sinclair's help, Raven realizes that she can "reboot" her brain to purge A.L.I.E.'s residual code by stopping her heart for fifteen minutes. Despite the efforts of her Becca Franko hallucination to deter her, Raven listens to Sinclair and sets up an ice bath to stop her heart while preserving her brain functions. Sinclair offers Raven some last advice and promises that when she succeeds, both he and Becca will be gone. Raven tells Sinclair that he is always with her before stopping her heart. Sinclair presses his hand against Raven's through the glass as her heart stops and then walks away with Becca. When Raven is revived, both Sinclair and Becca are gone for good and her condition is cured.
In season seven, James Crockett mentions that Sinclair was his mentor on the Ark and was always jury-rigging the Ark's nuclear reactor. As a result of helping him, James is confident that he can deal with the problem in Sanctum's malfunctioning nuclear reactor on his own. However, James messes up and accidentally triggers a nuclear meltdown.
