Biography[]

Backstory[]

Jade shares a similar backstory to her original counterpart, having been raised as an Edenia assassin by Outworld after Edenia's conquest, along with her best friend Kitana. Kade shared a romantic connection to General Kotal, before his imprisonment by Shang Tsung in the Flesh Pits.

Mortal Kombat (2011)[]

Jade appears in Mortal Kombat (2011), first seen with other warriors during the tournament held by Shang Tsung. Most of the time Jade is in the sidelines but becomes more important later on. She and Kitana try to stop Jax and Sonya Blade from escaping but are defeated. Jade later fights Jax after trespassing with Johnny and Raiden but is again defeated. After Shao Kahn is disappointed by his daughter Kitana (not really his daughter) Kitana angered and upset argues with Jade about her rank as a princess and how her unrelated father should think of her, but Jade insists they talk later once Kitana has calmed down.

Jade defeating Baraka easily

Jade defeats Baraka

After Kitana's capture Jade feels the need to be the one to save her. She confronts Baraka and defeats him easily and the person guarding Kitana, Sheeva. As Jade is ready to release Kitana, Kitana apologizes for acting blunt but Jade insists that everything is fine but she could not free her due to cavalry arriving so she escaped and tries to alert Raiden about Kitana's capture. Jade encounters the deadly Mileena and the two fight with Jade winning. Smoke comes and mistakes her for Mileena but Jade tries to correct him but they fight with Jade defeating him.

Jade's demise

After Liu Kang and Raiden leave to go speak with the Elder Gods they are ambushed by the Lin Kuei cyborgs but they successfully defeat them all. While they think it's over they are encountered by Sindel. During the fight Sindel takes most of the warriors out quick and easy with Jade and Kitana the last two, with Jade getting her heart ripped out and dies. She is later on resurrected by Quan Chi as a malicious Revenant.

Mortal Kombat (2011) Ending[]

Before Jade's death at the hands of Sindel in arcade ladder challenge after her battle with Shao Kahn Jade became unconscious and found her self walking up in an unknown realm. Jade approached a lone figure she saw in the distance the figure was a woman. She didn't reveal her name, but spoke with regal authority. Through the minds of countless mortals, the woman had been watching events as they unfolded for centuries. She informed Jade that Shao Kahn's death was an out come that must be re-imaged. Jade was defenseless as the woman possessed her body she returned to Earthrealm with the mysterious woman.

Mortal Kombat X[]

Jade is the only slain hero from the previous game who does not appear as a revenant in the service of Quan Chi. This is because Jade is already under someone else's control. She does appear in Kitana's arcade ending as a ghostly figure reaching out to her Revenant friend trying to help regain her nature.

Mortal Kombat 11[]

While Revenant Jade is a supporting antagonist, a Time-displaced Jade from before her death is brought into the present by Kronika There she reunited with her partner Kotal, who had become Kahn by this time, and was delighted to see him again. Afterwards, she told Kitana and Raiden that Shao Kahn had been traced to the Lost Hive of the Kytinn. She urged Kitana to convince Sheeva and the Shokan to join them against Shao's forces.

While riding to the Lost Hive, Jade and Kotal caught up, with her asking if he had ever taken another lover as Kahn, which he denied as he valued her most of all as She's The Only Good Thing That has Ever Happened to Him. After being ambushed, Jade found herself facing her revenant counterpart, and was disgusted by what she had become, managing to defeat her and D'vorah. Infiltrating the Tarkatan War Camp, Jade discovers Kotal Kahn's hardened heart when he wants to execute all the Tarkatans without exception, forcing Jade to confront her love from another time. After knocking out Kotal, she is captured by Shao Kahn and tortured by Skarlet before being rescued by Kitana, Liu Kang, and Kung Lao.

She is then part of Kitana's forces invading the Outworld arena to prevent Kotal from being executed. Although Shao Kahn is defeated, the evil emperor had time to smash Kotal's spinal column but Jade assures An Crippled Kotal that he is not helpless while She's Still Willing to Stay By His Side. She later participates in the takeover of Fort Kronika but the Titan reverses time at the height of the battle, wiping out Jade. In her semi-canon ending, Jade defeated Kronika, but was torn between Kitana and Kotal, until she followed Kotal's advice to follow her heart. She found herself creating a New Era for Edenia where it was never invaded by Outworld. While Jade and Kitana enjoyed a happy childhood, she would discover that she had Kronika's power, and as an adult would ascend to godhood and defeat Shinnok and Cetrion, allowing the Realms to know peace.

Aftermath[]

Jade reappears in the follow-up DLC Aftermath where she crosses paths with Sheeva, Shang Tsung, Fujin and Nightwolf as they travel to the Chamber of Souls to resurrect Sindel. Having no faith in the evil sorcerer and She Said Kotal is in the Soul Chamber and Is Using it to Mend His Broken Spine After the Fight against Shao Kahn and Jade refuses to let the quartet pass and ends up fighting Sheeva but Queen Sheeva is able to defeat her.

Jade's last appearance is during the crossing for Kronika's Ford but due to Shang Tsung's machinations, the normal flow of events is completely altered. The ship on which Jade is standing, Kotal (who in this timeline is healed enough to participate in the battle but is Still Not Strong enough to Deal with Shao Kahn and Shao Kahn Ultimately Killed Him), Kung Lao, Liu Kang and Kitana is stormed by Shao Kahn and Sindel as well as their minions Shokans. Jade confronts the Shokans as best she can before being confronted by Sindel and then helplessly witnessing Kotal's death at the hands of Shao Kahn before Sindel slams her through the hull.

Personality[]

Her loyalty for Kitana is so strong that in Mortal Kombat X when her best friend has fallen and become a revenant Jade reaches out to Kitana as a spirit trying to help the princess. She is loyal to her best friend and was loyal to Shao Kahn however she is not blindly loyal she stopped falling Shao Kahn when Jade realized he was wrong. Jade talks to Baraka about his loyalty blinding him unlike Baraka Jade notices and doesn't let her loyalty blind her to what is right and wrong.

Because of Jade's skills as a fighter and her good personality she teleports into kombats during some matches in Mortal Kombat II giving clues to fighters. Clues that they don't notice but she does. The clues help the kombatants so they can reach Jade who wants them to come to her. More about Jade's zodiac sign the Scorpio they are known to be mysterious, private, observant, ambitious, focused and confident but not overly confident. They are also sarcastic, sassy and are self-assured towards those who are an enemy.

Jade has romantic feelings with her lover, One of Shao Kahn's Generals, and the Former Emperor of Outworld, Kotal Kahn. They were separate after Shao Kahn betrayed his general but kept him alive in Shang Tsung's experiment until he was freed after Shao Kahn's death.

  • Jade's primary costume is similar to her alternate costume in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, while her alternate costume is similar to her Mortal Kombat: Armageddon primary costume, both only switching the hairstyle.
  • Jade holds her folded staff in her hand during her normal fighting stance, the first character in the series to do so outside an explicit weapon stance.
  • In the Story Mode of MK 2011, when Sindel enters the Cathedral, Jade is seen in her alternate costume, holding her MK:D staff. However, when her alternate costume is chosen, the staff is not seen.
