Jahy is the eponymous main character of the manga and 2021 anime series The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! A heartless demon from the Demon Realm, Jahy found herself on Earth after her world was destroyed as a result of the mana crystal exploding. Since then, Jahy has been doing her best to find the fragments of the crystal to restore her world while trying to survive the human world.
She is voiced by Naomi Ōzora in Japanese and Lisette Monique Diaz in English.
Personality[]
Jahy starts the story by being a haughty demon who had her minions wait on her hand and foot. She was also a raging sadist who would torture and execute her minions for a variety of reasons, and mistreated Druj, who developed sadomasochistic tendencies from it. When she came to Earth, Jahy did try to maintain some of that haughtiness, but unfortunately for her, anytime she acts cruel, she would suffer the consequences. Her pride is her fatal flaw; rather than admit that she needs help out of her hatred of being pitied, Jahy would double down to save face.
While reviving the Demon Realm was in the forefront of her mind, the more she stayed in the human world, she became conflicted due to her exposure to human emotions. She began to grow remorseful for her previous actions such as becoming disgusted with Druj's sadomasochism. She also grew to legitimately care for her boss and Ryou, even though she would try to deny it.
When meeting Kokoro, Jahy grew accustomed to showing off her true self to the young girl because Kokoro truly made her feel validated and respected. As a result of her continued interaction with humans, Jahy's villainous side is slowly chipping away. It should be noted that even when she was an all=powerful right-hand woman, she nevertheless still had a heart of gold buried deep down.
History[]
Prior to being stranded on Earth, Jahy was the right-hand woman to the Demon Lord Maou-sama. She started off as egotistical, mistreating and killing her servants for any inconvenience. That was until the Magical Girl arrived in the Demon Realm and destroyed the mystical gem keeping the dimension in balance. From there, Jahy was reduced to the size of a small child with a minimal amount of power, and she had to work as a waitress in order to avoid starvation while settling for an old dilapidated apartment as accommodation.
Despite that, she is determined to gather enough mystical gems to resurrect the Demon Lord and her realm. Throughout her quest, she finds familiar faces, unexpected obstacles and gradually begins to change for the better.
During a stop in front of a jewelry store where she challenged the price of a piece of jewelry, Jahy met her former servant Druj, still absurdly loyal to her. Jahy then discovered that Druj lived in luxury and even had his own company. Since then, Jahy has continuously tried to hide his face by hiding his dire situation from Druj, continuing to act with dominance and contempt as before.
As she had her taste stolen by crows, Jahy crossed paths with Saurva, a demoness who continually tried to steal her place in the Demon Realm only to fail every time and Jahy never knew of existence. Confusing Jahy with a normal child, Saurva tried to help her but only facilitated the theft of the snack by the crows. Although exasperated by Saurva's awkwardness, Jahy then listened to him recount her lack of self-confidence following her numerous failures to defeat someone. Reminding her a bit of herself, Jahy encourages Saurva to never give up before running off when she realizes she's going to be late for work, unaware that Saurva was actually talking about her.
Jahy would cross paths with the Magical Girl who destroyed his world and had meanwhile taken the first mana crystal she had found in the forest. By chance following her in the human form of her worst enemy, Kyouko Jingu, Jahy discovered how the human kept taking all the bad luck in the world to the point that it even depressed former demon number 2. Following the finding of a massive of crystals on a beach as she reluctantly helped the sisters with their uncle's shack, Jahy finally confronted Kyouko in equal strength and although the human pressured her, Jahy quickly realized how much Kyouko was alone in the world like the demon who now had lots of friends. However, Jahy gained the upper hand when she criticized Kyouko for her hypocrisy when destroying the Demon Realm but instead of killing her, she chose out of pity to offer her friendship.
Jahy soon regrets this decision as Kyouko keeps pestering her just to visit the seedy hovel that serves as her home. On this occasion, Jahy also found Maou who had been living with Kyouko for a while while emptying her fridge. Soon after and once again, Jahy's daily life takes on a big taste when Kyouko takes a job at the same pub as her and complicates her job due to Kyouko's constant bad luck. Kyouko also interferes in Jahy and Kokoro's friendship, much to Jahy's annoyance.
In the meantime, Jahy also discovers Druj's masochistic personality without really realizing his own prior bad behavior. At the same time, Druj and Kyouko start competing with each other just to curry favor with Jahy, which isn't always to the demon's advantage.
After yet another futile attempt to defeat a strangely amplified Saurva that has no effect on her, Jahy begins to despair when Kokoro constantly avoids her. Ryou even comes to mock Jahy for truly feeling friendship despite her usually dismissive nature with humans. Jahy is finally relieved to find out that Kokoro just had a toothache and she didn't want Jahy to see her like that. As night falls, Jahy finds herself confronted by a strange entity of light resembling Maou but is saved at the last minute by Druj.
The next day, the entity re-appears in front of the pub and transforms the Boss into Magical Girl to take all of Jahy's crystals but the Boss refuses to turn on her friend. Maou then appears and the overpowered entities take on gigantic forms before battling through the city, smashing the pub in the process. Refusing to let them wreak more havoc, Jahy took full form this time with these wings and attempted to block their energy discharge but was severely injured at the magical impact. Jahy remained unconscious until she woke up in anger to learn that the entity actually Su Maou's sister purposely caused all of the events that happened so far just to get her sister's attention.
Shortly after, Jahy gives up on his brief dream of having his own restaurant and leaves the management to Druj. Later, Kokoro invited Jahy to participate in the festival's shrine-carrying competition organized by the merchants. Although at first it is mostly very unpleasant for her, Jahy does not let go as most of the people she knows from afar only encourage her, even allowing her to win the first prize which she however finds disappointing. because it's just kid's trinkets. She also crosses paths with Saurva participating as a festival dancer and laughs at her revealing outfit. At nightfall, Jahy contemplates with all the major characters of the fireworks, even ending up forgetting his objective to restore the demonic kingdom.
Heroic acts[]
Even though she tries to insist that she does what she does for entirely pragmatic reasons, there are a few times where she ends up performing heroic deeds during her search for the mystical gems.
- When she went into the mountains to find a mystical gem, she ends up losing her original mystical gem, and to make matters worse, her supplies were also taken from her. While distraught over the belief that she would die alone and unfulfilled, she notices a chick that had fallen on the ground and, despite injuring her leg, decides to save it reasoning that at least one of them should survive.
- When she and her boss and landlord Ryou take their restaurant business to the beach, Jahy inadvertently rescues several beachgoers from being nearly stung by jellyfish.
- Jahy tries to beat up two suspicious-looking men when she thought her best friend Kokoro was in danger. While a misunderstanding, it does show that she is willing to go all out to protect her.
- Though for selfish motives and without really caring, Jahy unwittingly saved several stranded people on the beach as she searched for the mana crystals that caused such bad luck to humans.
- During her last fight against Kyoko, Jahy decided to spare her despite her resentment towards her and even ended up becoming her friend.
- She did not hesitate to sacrifice herself by interposing herself between the attacks of Su and Maou to prevent them from destroying the city.

- Ironically, every time she does a good deed, she would receive a mystical gem. But that same gem would be taken away if she resumed her bad behavior.
- On her t-shirt it says "Restore the Demon Realm".
- In her normal form her eyes are yellow but in her child form her eyes are red.
- As she does not have a bathroom, she is forced to use a metal basin to wash herself but only does so every three days.
- In her true form, she's strong enough to knock out and waltz a great white shark in the air with a single punch.
