~ Weaver's plan into becoming the leader of Wizard Island camp after Garret's death. |
James Weaver, also known as Weaver, is a major character in the 2019 video game Days Gone. He is former MIT student, and a survivor of the Freaker outbreak, who later joins in with the Deschutes County Militia, in order to invent a new weapon, the Napalm Molotov, that would eliminate the Freaker population.
However, after Colonel Matthew Garret grew increasingly unhinged following the death of Arturo Jiminez, Weaver was one of the workers to be confined inside the Ark.
Due to Deacon orchestrating a preemptive attack on Wizard Island, as well as the deaths of Skizzo and Garret at the hands of Deacon and Sarah, respectively, Weaver later becomes the leader of the Wizard Island survivor camp, permanently abolishing all of Garret's Militia-era policies.
Weaver is voiced by Darien Sills-Evans.
Appearance[]
Weaver is an African-American man, who is middle-aged, at least in his mid-30s. He has a bald head and has black eyes. His common outfit consists of a grey shirt, dark green pants, and black boots.
During his term as the chemist of the Militia, Weaver was often seen wearing a lab coat and safety glasses, as well as a red Militia armband with the insignia of a Captain.
After the dissolution of the Militia, he foregoes both his lab coat and his safety glasses.
Personality[]
Weaver is known to be smart, but can be competitive, especially towards Sarah, on who would hand their research to Garret first. However, he is a rational and reasonable man.
Background[]
Past[]
On Portland's northeast side, James Weaver was raised. Weaver had to start fighting at a young age since he was a poor child growing up in a dangerous neighbourhood. Despite his circumstances, Weaver was intelligent enough to quickly secure a scholarship to MIT, where he graduated with honours and a degree in chemistry.
Weaver was employed as a chemical engineer with a company in Portland when the world ended. He ended up being the only member of his family to survive the city. Weaver quickly enlisted in the Militia and started developing a chemical weapon to combat Freaker Hordes, which would come in the form of Napalm Molotov.
Days Gone[]
Colonel Garret meets Deacon at Weaver's laboratory after Deacon enlists at the Militia, where Weaver has just lost a nearly flawless batch of napalm to the weather. Weaver and Deacon get along well right first, but Deacon may not feel the same way.
After completing numerous missions for him, Deacon discovers that Weaver had been making moves toward Sarah ever since she arrived, much to his chagrin. Sarah rejected his advances, breaking his arm in the process. He also discovers that Sarah and Weaver are engaged in a minor competition to present their respective weaponry to Colonel Garret earliest in relation to their separate study.
Weaver was one of the researchers that was imprisoned in the Ark under Colonel Garret's stringent instructions after the death of Doctor Arturo Jiminez. Weaver was further put off by the Colonel's erratic behaviour. Weaver helped Deacon and Sarah by diverting the guards during their attempt to flee the island. But ultimately, due to Skizzo's sudden appearance, the two were apprehended.
Weaver assumed command of the Wizard Island camp when Skizzo and Colonel Garret died and the Deschutes County Militia as a whole was disbanded.
