Biography[]
Past[]
Before becoming a Power Ranger, Jason was said to be a talented martial artist who enjoyed teaching others as well. Like his fellow future Rangers, Zack, Billy, Trini and Kimberly, he grew up and lived in the city of Angel Grove and attended Angel Grove High School. Jason taught a martial arts class at Ernie's Juice Bar and Gym, a place that Jason and his friends like to work out and hang out in.
Mighty Morphin Era[]
One fateful day, as Jason finishes conducting one of his classes and is chatting with his best friends, an earthquake strikes Angel Grove. As Ernie's empties out, Jason and his friends are carried along in streams of colored lights until they land in a pile on top of each other in a strange place. As Jason and the others examine their surroundings, a robot by the name of Alpha 5 approaches them. As Jason is taking this all in, in an energy tube of blue light, is a huge floating head, who introduces itself as Zordon and explains that Jason and the others had been chosen by him to fight evil in the form of an evil space witch named Rita Repulsa. In order to do so, Zordon says that he will grant the five teens the power to become a fighting force known as the Power Rangers. The further explanation of dinosaur Zords and Power Morphers throw Zack and the others off, except for Jason. As Zack is leading the group out, Jason lingers; he is a natural-born leader and the idea of him being a sort of modern day hero appealed to him greatly. Very reluctantly, Jason follows his friends out of the Command Center.
Once outside the building, Jason is tried to persuade the others that maybe they should give this a shot. They don't get too far as, before Jason's eyes, a group of very strange beings are standing before him and the others. The beings are Putties - Rita's evil henchmen. At first, Jason and the others fight with all their might, but they are swiftly defeated. Realizing they don't have the strength to defeat the Putties, Jason encourages the others to use their Power Morphers. Jason morphs into the Red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger for the first time. With these new powers, Jason and the other Rangers make quick work of the Putties. When Rita unleashes her second-in-command Goldar on Angel Grove, Jason leads the other Rangers in summoning their Zords and combining them into the Megazord, which they use to successfully force Goldar into retreating. Elated with their victory, the group go back to the Command Center. Unable to suppress the grin on his face, Jason quickly tells Zordon that he is more than willing to continue defending the world from evil. Thus, Jason becomes the leader of the Power Rangers and a formidable force of good against evil.
Although a Ranger, he still keeps up with the life he had prior to becoming a Ranger. Jason gets involved in all the extra school activities that go on in Angel Grove as well as activities outside of school: food fairs, carnivals, dances, insect collecting, planting trees in the park, burying a time capsule, acting in school plays, and even finding stray animals a home.
Jason still teaches his martial arts classes and even manages to beat a weight lifting record set by Bulk, which greatly angers the bully. During this time, not only does Jason have to contend with Rita, but with Bulk and Skull as well; most especially Bulk, who seems to take great joy in trying to put Jason down. They have many confrontations with usually Bulk on the losing side. Bulk and Skull also enjoy tormenting Billy so Jason offers to teach Billy martial arts and Billy takes Jason up on his offer. Jason gives Billy as much encouragement as he can to bolster up Billy's self confidence.
Green Ranger Arc[]
Although Jason has many battles with Rita Repulsa's various monsters, the Rangers' biggest challenge awaits ahead. Another Ranger, colored green, appears on the scene, but this Green Ranger is working for Rita with Jason being placed in great danger when the Green Ranger transports him to the Dark Dimension. There, Jason faces off against Rita's general Goldar, where with his Morpher stolen and narrowly escaping damage from Goldar's sword, Jason has to be quick on his feet. Things change when the Green Ranger steps in for Goldar. Thankfully, the other Rangers transport Jason back to the Command Center just before the Green Ranger can kill him with the Sword of Darkness. His heart still pounding, Jason is still tense until he realized he was back so he quickly recovers and commands the Megazord against Goldar, Scorpina, and a grown Green Ranger, but it is all part of a trap laid out by Rita, as she causes a solar eclipse that cuts off the Megazord's power supply. Ultimately, the Rangers are forced to ditch the Megazord as it receives heavy damage and then falls into the Earth's molten core. Jason is upset by this defeat, but he manages to convince the other Rangers not to despair over their seemingly hopeless situation. At the same time, Alpha is able to uncover the Green Ranger's true identity, which to Jason's shock turns out to be a new kid in town named Tommy Oliver. Tommy had been a worthy opponent at a Karate match from earlier and the last person Jason expected to be the Green Ranger.
As Jason and the others fit in the pieces of what had been happening, another battle looms when Tommy summons his own Zord, the Dragonzord, to attack Angel Grove. Thankfully, Zordon - who had disappeared due to Tommy's earlier attack on the Command Center - returns and revives the Megazord, which the Rangers use to stop the Dragonzord's rampage. Jason then fights Tommy in a final battle, but is still outmatched due to Tommy's Dragon Shield. However, Jason ultimately wins when he hurls his charged-up Power Sword at Tommy, disarming his opponent and knocking him to the ground. Jason then immediately uses his Blade Blaster to destroy the Sword of Darkness saying "It's all over Tommy!", breaking Rita's evil spell over Tommy. As Tommy slowly rose to his feet, Jason was the first to offer him friendship and a place on the Ranger team. Now the team of five had turned into six and the Rangers were more powerful than ever.
Initially, Jason and Tommy are always trying to upstage each other. Especially across the Karate mat; neither one wants to cooperate with the other. Zordon wisely sends them on a mission together to acquire a new weapon. Forced to work together or fail the mission, Jason and Tommy realize they can get a lot more accomplished if they worked together. From that point on, Jason and Tommy become very close friends as they battle the forces of evil together. When Rita threatens Tommy's powers via the Green Candle, Jason enters the Dark Dimension again to try to save Tommy from losing his powers.
But once again, Goldar is waiting for him and Jason is unable to retrieve the candle. Jason feels a deep sense of frustration as Zack leads him out of the Dimension, but Jason needs to save Tommy from Rita's monster. Zordon comes up with a way to defeat Rita from obtaining the Green Ranger's powers; Tommy will have to give his Power Coin to one of the Rangers with a strong link to the Morphing Grid. Tommy passes his coin to Jason who feels the power surge through his body, and the Dragon Shield and Dragon Dagger transfer to him. He is unable to help Tommy from losing his powers, but he takes good care of them and the Dragonzord.
Peace Conference[]
Shortly after Rita's boss Lord Zedd arrives on Earth, things begin changing for the original team. A peace conference is coming up and three students from Angel Grove are to be selected. Much to his amazement, Jason, along with Zack and Trini, are selected to go. At first, they are not sure if they should go due to their Ranger duties, but Zordon knows the trio would be a big help at the peace conference. Zordon selected three new Rangers. They turn out to be Rocky DeSantos, Adam Park and Aisha Campbell, three new students who had assisted the Rangers in several missions. Jason's last Ranger mission is to get the Sword of Light sword that will allow his powers to be transferred. With Zordon's approval, Jason transfers his powers onto Rocky and, with Zordon's blessing, Jason, Zack and Trini leave for the peace conference.
Zeo[]
Two years later, Jason returns to Angel Grove where he is asked by Tommy to take the Gold Ranger powers from Trey of Triforia. After running a gauntlet of Quadrafighters and Cogs, Jason receives them and becomes the newest member of the Zeo Ranger team. He is reunited with Tommy and Billy and becomes friends with Rocky, Adam, Katherine Hillard, and Tanya Sloan and becomes guardian of Auric the Conquer.
He is forced to give the powers back to Trey when the energy of it starts to hurt him and drain them away from him.
Turbo: A Power Ranger Movie[]
A year after the Machine Empire's demise, Jason and Kimberly are scuba diving when they are captured by the space pirate Divatox and are both brainwashed by her to fight the Turbo Rangers but they are restored by Lerigot. He is last seen filling the injured Rocky in a martial arts tournament and winning the match along with Tommy and Adam.
Wild Force[]
Five years later, Jason is recruited along with the other Red Rangers go on a special mission to stop the remnants of the Machine Empire. There, he uses his original Red Ranger power to combat the threat and Cole Evans destroys General Venjix and Serpentera using his Wild Force Rider ending the threat forever.
Super Megaforce[]
Jason returns along with his Mighty Morphin teammates and the other past Power Ranger teams to help the Megaforce Rangers defeat the Armada.
Beast Morphers[]
Jason returns once again to being a ranger when the beast morphers Red Ranger Devon Daniels warns him that a revived Goldar is wreaking havoc in the Dino charge dimension, prompting him & Devon to follow them with his recharged power coin. Upon meeting up with the latter's team & the dino charge rangers, they learn that the beast morphers enemy Evox is planning on destroying them by creating a zord of his own, which leads to him leading the other rangers on a distraction attack while the beast morphers team go for Evox.
Marching up to a mountainside, Jason & the other rangers are soon encountered by Evox's army led by Goldar, Snide, and Robo Blaze & Roxy, but Jason gives them a surprise of his own when he summons both his old team & the dino thunder Rangers & they all go all-out with Evox's army, destroying them all with ease. However, the real battle begins when Evox himself comes out in the open to pilot his finished Zord: The Chimera Zord, which quickly overwhelms the rangers & their zords, fortunately, Devon is able to tip the power-scale on their side & together, they completely obliterate the zord which forces Evox to retreat.
After the battle, Jason congratulates the beast morpher rangers on their victory, and as he & the other rangers leave the dino charge dimension & back to the main one, he reassures them that no matter what happens or what might come, the legacy of the power rangers will live on forever.
Once & Always[]
Jason later returns with his old team by Billy when he accidentally revives Rita Repulsa into a robot body in an attempt to revive Zordon, as they battle it out with her and the old putties, Rita gets Billy into a corner & prepares to annihilate him with an extremely deadly spell. But before is hits him, Trini pushes him out of the way but gets hit with the spell & killed in the process, much to their shock & sadness, which gets worse when Rita retreats to parts unknown to prepare for her ultimate revenge.
One year later, Jason and the others head to the Angel Grove graveyard to visit Trini's funeral and pay their respects to their fallen friend, but while they wait for Zack to arrive, they are once again ambushed by Rita, who returned with Robot counterparts of two of her minions Minotaur & Snizzard and a fight ensues. But after awhile when Zack arrives to back them up, they find out just how tough the new Snizzard is when he manages to bite Jason by the arm & he is shrunk alongside Tommy & Kimberly, fortunately Billy & Zack escape just in time but the-now captured Jason and others are soon carried away back to the long-abandoned Moon Palace.
While there, Jason and the others are soon slowly being used as power for a machine Rita invented that will create a time-portal back to the day he & the others were first recruited by Zordon with the intention of crossing through it & using her esperience with them to destroy them in the past & undo their legacy altogether. Fortunately Billy and Zack alongside Katherine & Rocky, as well as Trini's teenage daughter Minh who has become the new MM yellow ranger, manage to save them (as well as all the other captured rangers) & destroy Rita once & for all, afterwards Jason and the other rangers are taken aboard a ship headed to aquitar for a better chance of returning to normal & continuing with his life & his other that of being a hero to the universe.
