I share this honor with my family - my wife, Rio and my son, Miles. Without their support I...I couldn't do what I do.
~ Jefferson Davis' speech at the award ceremony.
You are my reason for being brave.
~ Jefferson's final message to Miles.

Officer Jefferson "Jeff" Davis is one of the overarching protagonists of Insomniac's Spider-Man video game series.

He is the father of Miles Morales, husband of Rio Morales, older brother of Aaron Davis, and a police officer of the New York Police Department. He assisted Spider-Man in his investigation of the Inner Demons, and saved the vigilante from being nearly killed by the terrorist group.

His bravery would be honored by mayor Norman Osborn holding a ceremony, but Davis would sacrifice himself to protect innocent lives from the Inner Demons. Despite his death, Spider-Man would take Miles under his wing after the latter was bitten by a radioactive spider.

He was voiced by Russell Richardson, who also voiced Cormack in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Marcus Howard in Call of Duty: WWII, and Lewis Howard in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Jefferson Davis was born in 1974 in New York City to unnamed parents, and was born five years after his older brother, Aaron. Jefferson was close with his brother, and the two spent their youth walking around New York trying to find unique sounds to make their samplers. Around 2001, Jefferson became a police officer, and according to Yuri Watanabe, was investigating Wilson Fisk and his operations by the events of the game. During the 2000s, Jefferson would meet a woman named Rio Morales, and the two later married and moved to Brooklyn despite her roots being in Harlem. The two would have a son together named Miles, who would spent his early years taking apart the family's television set.

While chaperoning a field trip with his son at the Empire State Building, Jefferson witnessed the vigilante Spider-Man battle his foe the Vulture. He proceeded to evacuate all of the students, but when Miles wanted to help Spider-Man, Davis worried for his son's safety, but also realized that Miles was a "born hero". Jefferson would often take time out of his schedule to spend time with Miles, such as taking him to numerous museums, making scavengers hunts with Rio, and playing basketball with Aaron. Around this time, Jefferson started to investigate the "Prowler", a mysterious criminal for hire, and he later later learned that it was Aaron via a confession. Hurt by his brother's actions, Jefferson cut all ties with Aaron, and refused to allow his brother to approach his son at all.

Marvel's Spider-Man[]

When the Inner Demons started to take apart New York, Davis would be contacted by NYPD Captain Yuri Watanabe to assist Spider-Man in his investigation. The two managed to find a secret location at Fisk's shipyard, and encountered Inner Demons, who had just stolen Fisk's weapons and equipment. Jefferson assisted Spider-Man in fighting several Inner Demons members, and did so by stunning the demons with his stun gun. Spider-Man then went to intercept a truck that the inner Demons had, and Davis assisted the vigilante once again by crashing his police cruiser into the truck. Davis was injured in the process, and was taken to a hospital while speaking with journalist Mary Jane Watson. Jefferson's bravery was acknowledged by the city and its new mayor, Norman Osborn, who decided to award the officer at New York City Hall.

Going to city hall with his Rio and Miles, Jefferson gave a speech to the citizens present, but the ceremony was interrupted by the Inner Demons. Mr. Negative arrived and committed a terrorist attack to scare Norman Osborn, as he wanted revenge on Osborn for experimenting on him and indirectly causing the death of his parents. When the deputy mayor was revealed to be an demon with explosives, Davis tackled him and saved his fellow officer as he died in the blast. His body was found by his son, and he was later buried in the Harlem ceremony, and his funeral was attended by his wife, son, Peter Parker and Mary Jane. Miles and Rio mourned the death of Jefferson, and Peter decided to keep an eye on Miles by having him become a volunteer at F.E.A.S.T.

His death would be avenged on two occasions, with Spider-Man defeating Mr. Negative, and the Unground disbanding the Inner Demons completely a year after.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales[]

Jefferson's death impacted both Miles and Rio greatly, with the two deciding to stand up against injustice with Rio becoming a member of the city council and Miles becoming Spider-Man's protégé. Though Jefferson doesn't appear in game, his frequently mentioned, and his voice is heard during a flashback and during the scavenger hunt.
