Jess the Cat is the deuteragonist of the the British stop-motion series Postman Pat and its computer-animated feature film Postman Pat: The Movie and the titular protagonist of his own spin-off Guess with Jess.
He is a tuxedo bicolour cat and is Postman Pat's pet cat and best friend.
Jess' meowing sounds were recordings of a real life cat in series 1 and 2, Melissa Sinden in series 3-8 and Mike Disa in Postman Pat: The Movie. In Guess with Jess, he is voiced by Charlie George.
History[]
Jess was given to Postman Pat as a gift by his wife Sara when he was a kitten, according to Postman Pat: The Movie.
Postman Pat usually brings Jess with him when he drives and the 2 are rarely seen apart.
Jess is depicted as being playful and good-natured and gets along with everyone in Greendale. He can also occasionally do heroic things such as stopping the Greendale Rocket by himself before it could hit a sheep or free Pat from his dressing him to stop Edwin Carbunkle after the latter locked him in there. He also helps Josh steal Edwins phone in order to deactivate the PATBOT's before they could kill Pat, Mr. brown and Wilf.
His design also changed as the series progressed. In the first 2 series he lacked his red collar while in series 1 ye had long shaggy fur ehichIn series 2 became in longer and was also given white eyebrows, indicating he has gotten older. However in series 3 the white eyebrows were removed and his fur became far shorter and now wore a red collar which he has worn since.
However in series 3, his white eyebrows were removed and he was depicted wearing a collar for the first time, which he was worn in the series ever since.
In Postman Pat: Special Delivery Service, he comes along with Pat, who has been promoted to the head of SDS where he has to deliver parcels in various vehicles such as a helicopter.
In the spin-off Guess with Jess, he lives on Greendale Farm with his other animal friends and frequently asks the viewers questions and helps other solve the problem of each episode.

- In the Norwegian dub, Jess' gender is changed to female and is named 'Miss'.
