Well, listen. I've dealt with things ile this before and I have friends out there, and they're going to help, we're going to get you out of this. I promise you, everything is going to be all right.
~ Jessica reassuring the children kidnapped by William Afton.
Everyone is afraid to die. And you should be more afraid than anyone else, because if there's a Hell, there's a hole at the bottom of it reserved for you.
~ Jessica condemning William and telling him bluntly he's going to Hell.

Jessica is a major protagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's Novel Trilogy. She is one of Charlotte Emily's childhood friends who grew up in Hurricane with her before most of them moved away following the murders at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Ten years later Jessica and her friends return to Hurricane to attend the memorial of Michael Brooks only to get caught up in the schemes of the culprit behind the murders at Freddy's, William Afton.

Appearance[]

Jessica was shown to be an attractive, tall, thin young woman with long blonde hair, full lips and a pale skin complexion. In the first book she wore a rather elegant outfit consisting of a pink blouse, blue jean shorts and silver earrings. She also wore go go boots. In the second book she wore a purple coat, a red scarf with blue jeans. In the third book she wore a purple dress shirt, a brown belt with a circular, hooped silver buckle, and blue jeans. She also wears black hooped earrings rather than the original silver.

Personality[]

Jessica is shown to be a friendly, outgoing, supportive and kind young woman. She holds immense care and consideration for her friends not hesitating to return to her hometown to attend the memorial of her late friend Michael Brooks, reminiscing of their childhood days at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and enjoying their company. She shows traits very stereotypical of a girl, having a love for fashion, shopping and romance and being disgusted by grody things. However she shows immense intelligence and articulation. She has an interest in complex subjects like archeology and forensics and she is confident and charismatic with Charlie claiming she spoke as if she had everything in life figured out.

She is also not afraid to state her opinion and say things outright, like when she put down John for acting cold towards Charlie since she returned (unaware she was being impersonated by Circus Baby), telling William Afton quite bluntly that he's going to hell and telling him he smells terrible after he became a zombie in the form of Springtrap. She also openly expressed anger at Arty for fraudulently claiming he and Charlie were dating. Initially she was shown to be very and rightfully disturbed with the many dangers she got caught in between however this faded by the time of the third book. She had grown so used to the supernatural she was quite unimpressed by Afton's machinations although she was still shocked by them. She also was shown to be brave, determined yet reckless. She snuck into Circus Baby's car and followed her despite the danger, she insulted and berated William for his actions and called out Circus Baby for her delusions even though such comments could result in her death.

She was also was quite protective and noble having risked her life to rescue the children kidnapped by Afton even going toe to toe with Mangle. She even reassured the kids kidnapped by Afton that they would be rescued no matter what to make them feel better about their situation.

History[]

Jessica was born around 1978 and grew up in Hurricane, Utah with her friends Charlie, John, Marla, Carlton, Michael Brooks and Lamar. Growing up they would spend a lot of time in their local Freddy Fazbear's Pizza which Charlie's father owned. She would often talk to the animatronic Bonnie complaining about her parents and overall life. However in July 1985 a man lured away and murdered five innocent children, one of which was Michael. Jessica and her family then moved away to lived in New York City.

The Silver Eyes[]

Ten years after the murders at Freddy's, Jessica and her friends return to Hurricane to attend the memorial for the late Michael Brooks. The friends meet up at a diner and discuss what they have been up to for the last ten years. Although Carlton is impressed she lives in New York City she brushes it off claiming that eight million people live there so it's not special. Jessica tells Charlie that she booked them both a motel for the next few days and Carlton and the boys are staying at his house. Jessica and the group are nervous about what to say too Michael's parents after all these years. Afterwards the gang would talk about the good times they had at Freddy's with Jessica noting that she used to talk to Bonnie even though he couldn't respond nor listen. This prompts Carlton to make a joke about her being crazy but she claims she knew he was not listening she just liked talking to him. John then suggests they all go to Freddy's for old times sake even though it's abandoned. That night the group goes to the abandoned mall built over Freddy's and sneaks into the building through an open window. Inside they search and the building and narrowly avoid the night guard. Once they enter they look around the old pizzeria and meet the old animatronics. Jessica then directs them to Pirate Cove to see if Foxy is still there. Just as Jessica is about the pull open the curtains she is startled by a large noise which turns out to be Carlton who knocked over some pots and pans. The gang leave fearing the gaurd heard them. The gang then agree to meet up again tomorrow for Michael's memorial.

The next day they are joined by Lamar, Marla and her little brother Jason. They then attend the memorial with Jessica wearing a dress for the occasion. Once the memorial is finished they tell the three newcomers about the expedition at Freddy's and they ask if they could go too. The gang then agrees to meet at the abandoned mall later that night. When they enter the building Jessica find a control panel under the show stage, one that can control the movements of the animatronics however they have no idea how to operate it so they abandon it. As the gang decides to play hide and seek to kill time Jessica figures there might be another control panel somewhere. She finds the second panel under Pirate Cove however Foxy attacks Charlie who was hiding there. The gang rush out of the pizzeria and tend to Charlie's wounds. The next day they go to Freddy's again but they are confronted by the security guard "Dave". "Dave" threatens the call the cops on them but they convince him to allow them into the pizzeria for a tour. "Dave" leads them into the building. Jessica goes under the stage to operate the panel but once again her efforts are fruitless. "Dave" then offers to operate it for her and manages to program the show and get the animatronics to preform again. As Jessica and "Dave" watch the animatronics preform she notes that it's strange seeing them move like they use to. However the animatronics begin to freak out and break free from the stage. Jessica asks Lamar to turn off the animatronics but he doesn't know how. In the chaos "Dave" escapes and runs away. Once they regroup they find out that Carlton has gone missing with Jason claiming he was kidnapped by a "yellow Bonnie".

They report Carlton's disappearance to police chief Clay Burke who happens to be his father. However Clay assumes Carlton is just playing a joke and does not take action. He then invites them to his house to wait for Carlton to come home. Jessica begins to question if Carlton really was playing a joke. Clay then gets mad at them for joking about Freddy's despite what happened there ten years ago. He recounts the story about how they arrested a man connected to the murders back then but let him go due to lack of evidence. The next morning Jessica and the gang overhear Clay and his wife Betty arguing over Carlton with Betty insisting he is not playing a joke. Clay then sends Officer Dunn to Freddy's to investigate. However Jason takes matters into his own hand and goes to Freddy's to rescue Carlton himself. This prompts the rest of the gang to hurry after him. They sneak back into the building via the vents and split up to find them. Jessica, Charlie and Lamar look on the cameras and find Carlton. Charlie goes after him but Jessica and John end up stuck under the stage as the door gets jammed. After Charlie rescues Carlton they free John and Jessica from the crawlspace under the stage. They then enter the security office and find "Dave" knocked out on the floor thanks to Charlie. Jessica then notices to her horror the body of Officer Dunn in a basket, revealing "Dave" killed him. They then tie Dave up and interrogate him. Their interrogation reveals that "Dave" murdered the five kids ten years ago and the animatronics are possessed by his victims and they will kill anyone who even looks like an adult even them. Although, Jessica points out he will be killed as well "Dave" insisted he is "one of them" via his Spring Bonnie suit so he will survive. Later on Clay does some digging and finds out that "Dave Miller" is actually William Afton the co-founder of Freddy's and the man who allegedly murdered the five kids ten years ago. After dodging the animatronics multiple times there efforts were for not as the robots surrounded them. However a fifth animatronic Golden Freddy possessed by Michael Brooks saves them and calls of his fellow animatronics. Clay breaks in the pizzeria and saves them and the gang prepares to leave. However, Afton in his Spring Bonnie suit takes Charlie hostage prompting her to kill him via a springlock failure. The animatronics surrounding the dying Afton and drag him away. After they leave Jessica attempts to call first shower when they get back to the motel but she decides to allow Charlie to do so instead as she has gone through worse. Afterwards Jessica presumably returns to New York and the friends go there separate ways for now.

The Twisted Ones[]

A year after the events of the first book Jessica attends college in St. George and majors in Archeology. She is joined by Charlie who attends the school as well and majors in robotics. Sometime later Jessica enters the dorm room she shares with Charlie, exhausted from her daily classes. She questions the experiment Charlie is making and she explains it's two animatronics she programmed to mimic each other. She then looks under her bed and finds the head of Charlie's toy rabbit Theodore much to her horror. Charlie explains that she took him apart to study him. Charlie then confides in Jessica about her upcoming date with John worried they might talk about the events of the previous year. However Jessica gives Charlie the encouragement to talk to him anyway and pushes her out of the dorm room to meet John. Later that night Jessica asks Charlie how her date with John went and she says it was "weird". Jessica then decided to go to sleep but Charlie asks her if they could go "shopping" in the morning. Jessica happily agrees. The next day as Charlie is driving them to go shopping they make an unexpected stop at the abandoned mall much to Jessica's confusion and fear. Jessica assumes it because John is there but she denies this. They then enter the dilapidated Freddy's which is now demolished. Once they enter they look around and are flooded with terrible memories from last year. They then spot scratch marks on the floor leading to a closet. Once they open the closet they find William Afton and his rotting body still trapped inside the Spring Bonnie suit, much to their horror. As it turns out Charlie wanted to make sure Afton was actually dead after hearing rumors that he faked his death. The two then leave with Jessica specifically being disgusted.

Later on Jessica overhears Charlie and John discussing something about something killing people. Although the two try to hide it at first they reveal that a new batch of animatronics are murdering people across the county and they are trying to track them down. Jessica decides to help them out. They soon determine that these creatures are actually hunting down Charlie and they become deadest on stopping them. They then go to a neighborhood under development and find a freshly planted grave. Under the grave is a lifeless mannequin version of Freddy which confirms their suspicions that the twisted animatronics are burying themselves during the day. They call Clay Burke and organize a stakeout to wait for the animatronic to emerge. Suddenly a strange ear piercing sound is made and the mannequin in the ground begins to change into a grotesque monster. As they escape before it can emerge Charlie realizes the animatronic transformed into grotesque creatures because of illusion discs which change someone preconceived perception of certain things.

That night they stakeout in the neighborhood to catch the animatronics and destroy them. They encounter a Twisted Wolf animatronic who nearly kills someone but Clay rescues them. The next day Charlie decides not to get her friends involved and goes after the Twisted One’s herself resulting in her capture. Jessica, John and Clay gather to look for Charlie but they find no trace of her or the animatronics. Jessica is upset Charlie would do something so reckless and dangerous. John then gets the idea to enlist the help of the original animatronics. As it turns out Clay salvaged the original animatronics from Freddy’s and kept them in his basement. They inform the animatronics about the situation and they remain silent until they mention that William Afton may be behind it. The animatronics spring into action hoping to kill their arch nemesis. As they chase after the animatronics they are directed by a shadowy version of Freddy to an underground pizzeria where Charlie is being help captive. Once inside they find Charlie and come to her rescue but come face to face with all the Twisted animatronics as well as William Afton himself who now calls himself Springtrap. Jessica of course notes that Springtrap smells terrible because he is a rotting corpse.

Charlie goes after Springtrap but in the meanwhile Jessica, John and Clay are cornered by the Twisted Ones. However the original animatronics come to their rescue and destroy their twisted counterparts. As they leave Jessica thanks the animatronics for saving their lives. However the underground pizzeria begins to collapses and the group is forced to escape. They wind up going through a door that oddly enough leads to a Henry’s house. However, Charlie is soon attacked by the still alive Twisted Freddy who swallows her and seemingly kills her via a springlock failure. As Jessica, Clay and John are horrified and shocked but still hopeful she is still alive. However they are escorted out of the house by the cops before they could do anything. The house then collapses leaving little hope for Charlie’s survival. The gang then meet up at a diner reeling from Charlie’s fate. Jessica remains hopeful that Charlie could still be alive but John tells Jessica to stop as there is little chance of her being alive. They are joined by Marla and Charlie’s classmate Arty who are informed of her fate. Suddenly a woman drives up to the diner wearing a red dress. The group assumes that the woman is Charlie. Jessica being overwhelmed with emotion runs up and hugs the woman being happy that her best friend is alive. However, John see’s through this façade and correctly surmises she is not the real Charlie.

The Fourth Closet[]

Six months after the events of the Twisted Ones all of Charlie’s friends save for John are fooled by the woman who they met at the diner. John still refuses to believe that woman is Charlie however. One night as John is walking down the road he is met by Jessica in her car. Jessica explains that they’re going to Clay’s house for a meet up. She urges John to come as well as “Charlie” is going to be there and she misses him. However, John corrects her stating that woman isn’t Charlie and that she died. This causes Jessica to get upset at him and says that he’s being cruel to “Charlie” by shunning her and it’s quite frankly hurting her as she’s been through enough. She insists that John come to the get together to which he reluctantly agrees. At the gathering John and Jessica reunite with Marla and Carlton. Jessica claims that she and “Charlie” moved out of her dorm room but oddly enough “Charlie” left all of her belongings behind. Later on John talks to “Charlie” and the two get into a brief quarrel but John drops it and leaves. Jessica assures “Charlie” that John does not mean to hurt her, he is still reeling from what happened six months ago. Back in the house Jessica, Carlton, Marla and “Charlie” catch up. Carlton makes a off hand joke about killer robots which prompts Jessica to elbow him for making such a insensitive joke. Later on when Jessica is in her apartment stocking her fridge from grocery shopping she is confronted by “Charlie” who startles her. “Charlie” asks Jessica is she can help her get ready for her date with John. However, Jessica knows that just gives “Charlie” some advice regarding John and wishes her luck. Later on Jessica, John and Carlton are informed that Clay was attacked and has been admitted to the hospital for his injuries. While at the hospital Clay gives Jessica and John a file of photos he took of “Charlie”. It’s though the observation of these photos they realize that “Charlie” is blurry in all of them but everyone else isn’t. This makes them suspicious. They then learn that a new batch of children have gone missing throughout the town and the two decide to investigate.

They notice that Charlie’s old rabbit toy Theodore keeps uttering the same phrase over and over, “Shining Star, Silver Reef”. This leads the two to the abandoned mining town Silver Reef where they find the home of Charlie’s aunt Jen. Jen reveals that she knows that the woman that emerged after Charlie’s supposed death isn’t actually her niece. Suddenly , the fake Charlie enters the house. This prompts Jessica and John to hide in the other room. However they find a chest and upon opening it they find the real Charlie inside. In the meantime Aunt Jen is killed by the imposter Charlie but during the commotion John and Jessica escape with the real Charlie. Back at John’s apartment they let Charlie rest on the couch and look over the photos given to them by Clay. In one of the photos they find out that the fake Charlie is actually Circus Baby the mascot of the recently opened Circus Baby’s Pizza. Baby had been using illusion discs to appear as Charlie the whole time. Suddenly, Baby appears still disguised as Charlie. Baby searches the house presumably suspecting their hiding Charlie. However she stops her pursuit when John offers to take her on a date. Jessica and Carlton then monitor the date from afar. However the date goes bad and Baby leaves. Jessica then decides to follow Baby and even gets in the trunk of her car. Baby drives to the pizzeria and when Jessica tries to get in after her Baby appears and knocks her out, capturing her.

When, Jessica awaken she finds herself in a room tied to a chair. Baby reveals her true form and goes on a rant about her problems regarding her father and her origins. Jessica assumes the father she is talking about is William Afton and claims that Afton never made anything with love. This causes Baby to threaten to rip Jessica in half. While Baby continues to rant, Jessica escapes her bonds and tries to run to freedom. However she is confronted by Springtrap. Springtrap does a song and dance about Jessica’s impending death but it’s cut short when the real Afton emerges and reveals the Springtrap she saw was just an illusion. He explains that following his removal of the Spring Bonnie suit he was left in critical condition and now is in a constant state of agony and requires a wheelchair to move. Jessica rightfully doesn’t feel bad for him as he is an irredeemable monster. Jessica even outright tells Afton that he is going to hell for his actions and he should be afraid to die. Afton agrees but states that the had knocked on his door before and he has turned him away. He then reveals that he plans to transfer his soul into an animatronic to become immortal essentially replicating how his victims possessed the others. To do this he not only kidnapped several children to experiment on he also captured the original animatronics and fused them into one endoskeleton. Jessica see’s this and is horrified to see that the spirits are in pain. However before she can dwell on it Afton forces her to help Baby preform an operation on him. Jessica is forced to help and watch as Baby removes Afton’s kidney. She tries to calm her nerves by thing of fancy shoes to distract her from the gruesome sight. Soon, Baby implants Afton’s kidney inside the amalgamation. This causes Jessica to pass out from the shock. When she awakens she finds herself in a room with the four kids Afton recently kidnapped. The kinds introduce themselves as Ron, Allana, Lisa and Jacob. Although, Jessica tries to help them escape they advise against it as of she opens the door “it” will get them. The children then reveal to Jessica how they each got kidnapped. It’s revealed they were all grabbed by a claw that dragged them into Circus Baby’s chest cavity. Jessica assures the children that she has been in situations like this before and soon enough her friends will come rescue them.

Later, Jessica is told that the animatronic guarding them is all “mangled up”. Jessica believes that the animatronic is broken so she opens the door only to be attacked by an animatronic fox called The Mangle. Mangle ends up kidnapping Jacob. Carlton and Marla soon break into the pizzeria and rescue Jessica and the kids. Carlton gives Jessica an earpiece that makes her invisible to the animatronics to help her escape. However, Jessica tells Carlton that Afton is still alive and he’s kidnapped one of the children. Carlton decides to go after William himself intent on ending his reign of terror and avenging Michael’s murder. Meanwhile, Jessica and Marla help the kids escape. However the animatronics specifically the Baby Crawlers still attack the children because they don’t have earpieces that make them invisible. Jessica fights off the Baby Crawlers and makes Mangle chase her to give the kids the opening to escape. She crawls through the play area with Mangle in hot pursuit. Thankfully she escapes through the vents and survives. Jessica tired from the ordeal takes the kids to the police station to give them back to their parents. Later on Carlton is taken to the hospital after his fight with Afton. Carlton managed to defeat Afton and rescue Jacob which Jessica him for. However, Jessica is informed by Clay that they couldn’t find Charlie unfortunately but he intends to keep looking for her. John sadly chimes that in spite of their efforts they will never find her and he leaves. It’s unknown if Jessica ever found out about Charlie’s sacrifice to kill Circus Baby or the fact she was really an Android.

Trivia[]

  • In the description Charlie gives in the original Silver Eyes novel, Jessica is described as having brown hair. However in the graphic novels this was changed to blonde. It is unknown why this is the case but it's possible the change was made to make her stand out more considering most of the cast already had brown hair.
  • Jessica is the only character to interact with William Afton in every book.
  • Jessica is the most athletic of the group as she claims she was apart of a track team in high school.
  • In spite of her hatred for William Afton she ironically wears a purple shirt in the third book a color famously associated with William.
