IDW Comics[]
Tales of the Fallen[]
Jetfire was among the first of the Seekers, able to travel through space to look for suns to be harvested to replenish the AllSpark.
Jetfire served directly under the Prime who would become the Fallen, finding for him various stars to harvest, believing he was serving the Dynasty of Primes interests. Over time, the Fallen began to open up to Jetfire, his most loyal and capable Seeker, telling him that the Dynasty no longer served Cybertron's best interests. Jetfire had unwittingly sacrificed a populated star system under the Fallen's misdirection, and became confused.
Still, Jetfire continued to work with the Fallen, despite his doubts. His master and a small army of Constructicon drones had fashioned a new faction called the Decepticons with the intention of eventually subverting the Dynasty. Jetfire followed them to a desert on Earth to build another star harvester when primitive life made itself known. The Dynasty arrived soon thereafter to put an end to the Fallen's betrayal. Jetfire realized too late that he was on the wrong side, and so the Fallen warped Jetfire and the other "underlings" into orbit so that the Primes could face each other alone. As they fell planetward, Jetfire fought the Constructicons, and was eventually victorious, but with a price. He crashed from orbit into the Earth and laid dormant for thousands of years.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)[]
Jetfire was found by Sam Witwicky, Mikaela Banes, Leo Spitz and Seymour Simmons at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, an annex of the National Air and Space Museum, after Wheelie pinpoints the general location of the ancient Seeker. Sam reactivates him with an AllSpark, waking him up from stasis lock. After a misunderstanding when the humans saw his Decepticon insignia, Jetfire activates a Space Bridge to teleport Sam and his friends to Egypt, explaining to them the origin of the Primes and the Matrix of Leadership. Learning of Transformers Optimus Prime's existence and death, Jetfire sends them to find the Matrix, which he explains that can be used to revive Optimus (though it could also be used to power the Fallen's technology).
He demonstrates his immense power as an ancient Seeker when he arrives late in the final battle at the Giza Necropolis, and cleaves his battleaxe clear through Mixmaster and stomps off his head, killing him and saving the human forces nearby, although soon after he is attacked and mortally wounded by Scorponok, but manages to easily crush his attacker after recovering from the surprise attack (saying he is "too old for this crap"). Eventually, as ordered, Sam revives Optimus with the Matrix (much to Jetfire's relief) right before the Fallen steals the Matrix to activate the Sun Harvester. Seeing that there might be hope with a living Prime, Jetfire then acknowledges that in his Decepticon life, he had never done anything "worth doing" until he had fought on behalf of the Autobots, and willingly sacrifices himself by tearing out his spark in order to allow for Optimus to use his parts as Jetpower Optimus Prime, ready engage the Fallen. He says his final words to Optimus to fulfill his destiny. Ratchet has Jolt to electrify Jetfire's remaining and transplant to Optimus. Thanks to Jetfire's sacrifice, Optimus proves to be more than a match for Megatron and the Fallen combined, and defeats Megatron before killing the Fallen. Optimus then discarded Jetfire's leftover parts, but Optimus later would use them in the sequel.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)[]
Despite being deceased, the Transformium substances of remains of Jetfire's armor were implying to be reused whilst cloned by Que/Wheeljack with the NEST organization members assistances. Where its Transformium substances were cloned into Optimus Prime's jetpack. Optimus Prime's flight gear combat form was also instrumental in helping him kill Driller.
Legacy[]
Jetfire's leftover spare parts were used while cloned by Wheeljack, to create Optimus Prime's flight gear equipment in the sequel.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Space Bridge Formation: Jetfire mentioned the Space Bridge by name shortly before he did a really half-assed job of throwing himself and the rest of the heroes halfway across the world to Egypt, wrecking Sam's hand in the process (Jetfire wasn't entirely sure they were still on the right planet). The even-more-ancient but significantly less senile Fallen, one of the original Primes, shows a similar ability where he teleports across short distances, seeming to use it as a form of flight.
- Teleportation: Being one of ancient Seekers in the past, and Megatronus Prime's former servant. Jetfire possessing teleportation, allowed him to move from one place to another with ease. Jetfire uses his teleportation to assist Sam Witwicky for finding the Matrix of Leadership's location.
Quotes[]
| “ | What sort of hideous mausoleum is this?! | „ |
| ~ Jetfire's reawakening from dormancy. |
| “ | Jetfire: What do you want? Sam: Look, we just want to talk! Jetfire: I have no time to talk. I'm on a mission! I'm a mercenary doom-bringer. What planet am I on? Sam: Earth. Jetfire: Earth? Terrible name for a planet. Might as well call it "Dirt"; planet "Dirt". Tell me: is that robot civil war still going on? Who's winning? Sam: The Decepticons. Jetfire: Errrgh... [spits] Well, I changed sides to the Autobots. Sam: What do you mean, "changed sides"? Jetfire: It's a choice. It's an intensely personal decision. So much negativity. Who wants to live a life filled with hate? Wheelie: You mean you don't have to work for those miserable, freaking Decepticons? Jetfire: If Decepticons had their way, they'd destroy the whole universe. |

| ~ Jetfire explaining his resignation from being one of the Decepticons. |
| “ | Jetfire: Somewhere buried in this desert, our ancestors built a great machine. It harvests Energon by destroying suns. Sam: Destroy suns? Leo: You mean blow them up? Jetfire: Yes. You see, in the beginning, there were seven Primes, our original leaders. And they set out in the universe seeking distant suns to harvest. The Primes set out with one rule, never destroy a planet with life. Until one of them tried to defy this rule, and his name forevermore was the Fallen. He despised the human race, and he wanted to kill you all by turning on that machine. The only way to activate it is with a legendary key called the Matrix of Leadership. A great battle took place over possession of the Matrix. The Fallen was stronger than his brothers, so they had no choice but to steal and hide it from him. In the ultimate sacrifice, they gave their lives to seal the Matrix away in a tomb made of their very own bodies, a tomb we cannot find. Somewhere, buried in this desert, that deadly machine remains. The Fallen knows where it is, and if he finds the Tomb of the Primes, your world will be no more. |

Trivia[]
- In Revenge of the Fallen, Jetfire seems to be the opposite of the Fallen. For the Fallen, he was one of the Primes before his misanthropy led to his downfall, thus making him form the Decepticons. Jetfire, on the other hand, was a former Decepticon whose change of side (becoming an Autobot) was by choice, thinking that being in the life of hatred is not worth for him at all.
- The Revenge of the Fallen movie novelization includes a scene where Jetfire battles a fellow ancient Seeker.
- Jetfire is also the opposite of Sentinel Prime from Dark of the Moon. Jetfire was a Decepticon who later joined the Autobots by his own rightful choice, while Sentinel Prime was an Autobot who sided the Decepticons through his betrayal selfish idealism.
- Like his G1-cartoon counterpart, Jetfire started as a Decepticon, but later managed to redeem all his past mistakes and died in honorable ways.
- Opposing his G1-cartoon counterpart, this Jetfire incarnation doesn't feature his battle-helmet, only whiskers.
- During his first conversation with Sam Witwicky's crew, he mentioned that he does have parents in the past. His father is said to be Decepticon with a sense of honor, without having any alt-mode. Although, it's still unclear what his parents' roles have to do with the Transformers movie timelines.
- In the video game adaptation version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, it had shown a different Jetfire death scene. Where in the movie version, Jetfire dies after sacrificing his life to help Optimus Prime during the final battle against the Fallen in Egypt. In the video game adaptation, Jetfire was mortally wounded shortly after being impaled from behind by Megatron.
- In the video game adaptation version, Jetfire is equipped with a gun. In contrast to the movie version, where Jetfire only uses an ax cane and missiles.
- In the movie novelization version, Jetfire is said in "static lock" after being betrayed whilst abandoned by the Fallen in the past. This may also be a logical reason for why Jetfire looks like he already has a mustache and is older than the Fallen. Whereas the Fallen's case despite being sealed by the Primes, apparently still consumed Energon fluid on Cybertron which caused him not to grow a mustache.
