Jetfire is an important character who was originally the commander of the Decepticons Seekers, and a major villain-turned-hero and remaining member of the Autobots in the Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy, serving as a major antagonist-turned-anti-villain in Siege, and a supporting character in Earthrise.

He was originally a loyal Decepticon and rivaled Starscream, but eventually defected and joined the Autobots because he disagreed with the Decepticons' methods and overall philosophy of destruction and violence.

He was voiced by Keith Silverstein, who was also the voice of Omega Supreme and Deseeus.

History[]

Transformers: War for Cybertron - Siege[]

Jetfire was the fearsome leader of the Seekers. He and his Seekers discovered Bumblebee and Wheeljack investigating a spacebridge. When Starscream threatened to attack them without his command, Jetfire sliced his hand off at the wrist with his arm-blade. This earned the ire of Starscream and the other Seekers, and Jetfire briefly battled his own team instead of the enemy. He later threatened to "disarm" Starscream again. Megatron had to frequently silence their bickering.

Megatron ordered Jetfire to lock Ultra Magnus away in a cell when he failed to denounce the Autobots' role in the ongoing war. When Shockwave presented his plan to reformat the Autobots into Decepticons, Jetfire noted to himself that it would be a victory without honor. When Starscream rallied Decepticons to denounce Megatron and the plan to reformat the Autobots, Jetfire berated him for his false sense of superiority, leading to another scuffle that Megatron had to break up. After ordering the Seekers to go on patrol, he was put off by Megatron's description of soldiers as "tools that can easily be replaced", and was appalled soon after when Megatron threatened to fire at Shockwave at close range. Later, when Ultra Magnus escaped torture and threatened to shoot Megatron in the back, Jetfire witnessed Megatron calling his bluff, believing he would never do something so dishonorable as fire at someone's back. Megatron was correct, and Jetfire subdued Magnus quickly. Megatron advised Jetfire to "take the shot" whenever the opportunity presented itself. When Skywarp and Jetfire tracked Impactor's comm to Autobot Command, Skywarp was prepared to slaughter them all, but Jetfire took a stand and said wholesale annihilation for the sake of peace was wrong. Skywarp attacked him, but before Skywarp could report to Megatron, Jetfire shot him in the back, critically wounding him as he flew away.

At Tarn-Hauser Gate, Jetfire readied the Seekers to attack the alleged Autobot base underneath Alpha Trion's memorial. When Megatron realized Magnus had lied about the base's location, he killed Magnus, and Jetfire witnessed his death. Megatron ordered him to take Ultra Magnus's corpse to Shockwave, but Starscream arrived and accused him of killing Skywarp, firing at him. Jetfire admitted to his actions and asserted that genocide was wrong. Megatron marked him as an enemy as he escaped, and the Seekers chased him and eventually shot him down. Eventually, he mustered the strength to fly to Autobot Command and expressed a wish to join them. Skeptical of his intentions, the Autobots imprisoned Jetfire. He told Optimus Prime that Megatron intended to annihilate them all, and that the Decepticons had crossed a line. Later, when the Autobots needed to navigate the Sea of Rust, they learned that, as a Decepticon, Jetfire had a map of the area. To earn the Autobots' trust, he agreed to have a core override installed that would detonate his brain module by remote control. At the Sea of Rust, he provided safe passage for the Autobots through the electrical storm and saved Prowl from a metallic vortex.

While battling the Sparkless with the Autobots, he provided an explanation for their zombie-like behavior while slicing them up. After returning to the Ark, he attacked his former Seeker teammates, not hesitating to destroy them. He was confronted by Starscream, and they had a one-on-one battle. When Megatron forced Starscream to suspend his duel and attack the spacebridge, Jetfire followed him. He managed to knock Megatron flat on his back before being shot by his fusion cannon. Much later, after the Ark vanished and the spacebridge was destroyed, Jetfire offered his support to the remaining Autobots on Cybertron.

Transformers: War for Cybertron - Earthrise[]

Now an Autobot with new emblem, Jetfire was part of the Autobot force to help free Decepticons prisoners. After the mission, Jetfire questions if it was wise for Elita to free those Decepticons. Elita isn’t entirely sure herself, but she can’t help but wonder why Decepticons are imprisoning their own kind. Jetfire says that everything has changed since the Battle of the Spacebridge, including Megatron. Jetfire surmise that he’s turned on his own as he lacks an enemy with the Autobots essentially gone. Jetfire would rather leave the Decepticons locked up, but Elita argues that they can’t lose sight of the fact that even Decepticons are still Cybertronian, so they’ll continue to liberate the prison camps.

Jetfire arrives at the Kaon prison-camp and takes out the three seekers before joining Elita, Red Alert, and Chromia and heading inside. Jetfire, Elita, Red Alert, and Chromia walk into a trap set by Starscream. They are then taken to Metatron, who was disgusted to see Jetfire as an Autobot. Megatron then showed the group a demonstration of Project Nemesis and that would be next to harvesting the sparks of the Decepticons.

In the detention cells, the Autobots tried to work out what Project Nemesis was. Jetfire surmises that they’re building a weapon. The group was brought before Megatron who put them in the Project Nemesis tubes. As the machinery activated, it shut off just as quickly and the group was rescued by Scrapface, who helped them escape Megatron's citadel. The group had to take cover from another group of Seekers. Scrapface shot the Seekers, but one managed to escape. Jetfire gave chase and managed shoot down the Seeker. He reported to Elita-One that he was uncertain if their positions had been transmitted. The group received Shockwave's message and Elita realized that it was a trap to harvest sparks from the Decepticons. Jetfire pledged his support to protect the Decepticons.

Jetfire, Red Alert, Chromia, Scrapface, and the remaining bots find themselves under attack by cloaked Decepticons while Elita plants charges inside the arena. Chromia saves Jetfire, Scrapface, and the other bots from being taken into the arena by the Decepticons, shooting down their enemies, including Skytread despite the fact that he helped them escape last time. Jetfire and the others then tried to flee the area before the charges detonated, but couldn't get far enough and died in the massive explosion.

Transformers: War for Cybertron - Kingdom[]

Despite the chance he could have survived the explosion at Kaon, it is clear that during the time from the explosion to when the autobots and decepticons returned to cybertron, that he had perished at some point since among the characters who's sparks formed prejections of their bodies, Jetfire was among them. So it is likely that he either perished due to the explosion or to the freezing tempertures.

When the AllSpark was returned to Cybertron to its Temple by Bumblebee, Jetfire appeared as a LifeSparks with others who witnessed Elita strike down Galvatron and Nemesis Prime before reuniting with the Allspark.
