"Big Eater" Jewelry Bonney is a major character of the One Piece franchise. She is the captain of the Bonney Pirates and the only female member of the "Worst Generation" pirates. She is also the daughter of Ginny, whom was later adopted by the ex-Warlord and Revolutionary officer, Bartholomew Kuma.
She is later revealed to be a twelve year old girl who wants to seek vengeance on the World Government for turning Kuma into a Pacifista. Bonney was also a test subject who was experimented by one of the Five Elders, Jaygarcia Saturn.
Her first bounty was 140,000,000 berries. Her second and current bounty is 320,000,000 berries, at the age of 10 and 12 respectively.
She was voiced by Reiko Kiuchi and later Reiko Takagi in Japanese dub and Laura Wetsel in English dub.
Appearance[]
Bonney is a slimmed and curvaceous tell young woman despite her eating too much food. However, this was derived from her Devil Fruit as her actual age is of her preteen with her being a little girl and not yet fully developed. She has a long pink hair and purple eyes. In pre-timeskip, she worn a green hat, white shirt, orange and black stripped teeny jeans strapped on her shirt, purple stocking (with yellow and pink pattern) and black high heeled boots.
After timeskip, she worn a black hat and orange furry coat. During the Levely, She revert to her original clothes but worn a different green hat and white furry shirt.
Personality[]
As the Big Eater, Bonney is a glutton who is obsessed with eating, mostly because she spent much of her early life hungry and impovershed. Her favorite food is pizza, but if there is anything she does not like, she has yet to reveal it. While eating in public, she tends to rudely bark orders to servers for more, totally disregarding table manners and utensils. Many members of her own crew are chefs whose job is to serve her while she leads them into battle, often giving orders to them with her mouth full. Interestingly, her appetite is a big reason for her reporté and friendship with Luffy.
She has a strong love for her father, Bartholomew Kuma. However, when seeing her father became a mindless weapon, Bonney suffered in pain and sorrow causing her of developing a strong hatred towards Vegapunk and the World Government as she wants to get revenge on the World Government for turning her beloved father into a Pacifista.
She has a rivalry with those from her generation (the Worst Generation). She hold rivalry towards both Luffy and Zoro for assaulting the World Nobles. She hates Blackbeard at his face when she rejected him to become his woman by kicking him at stomach and then his face as well calling him a fat pig. Bonney does at least respect her rivals such as Luffy and Law after they've took down Donquixote Doflamingo. She does thanked Luffy for saving her, but she reminded him that they're still rivals and shown her disbelief that Luffy is an Emperor and Jinbei is his subordinate. Despite her rivalry, she did enjoy eating food with Luffy when discovered Vegapunk's vending machine.
Like Trafalgar D. Water Law and Yamato, Bonney is sensitive when Luffy mistakenly called her as "Boogie" until he gotten her name right.
Biography[]
Jewelry Bonney is the daughter of Bartholomew Kuma. She was raised by her father until she ran away from Egghead Island after her father was experimented by Dr. Vegapunk for unknown reasons, causing Bonney to develop a complete hatred towards the World Government. At some point, she became a pirate and captain of the Bonney Pirates at age 10.
She first appears in the Sabaody Archipelago. She stopped Roronoa Zoro from assaulting the Celestial Dragon and tells him to not attack the Celestial Dragon because it would bring the Admiral. She is fury that Monkey D. Luffy has assaulted the Celestial Dragon for what the World Nobles did to his friends (Hatchan and Camie). She escaped from Sabaody. She witnessed the death of Whitebeard and shed her tears for the legendary pirate. She attempted to attack Blackbeard but failed and got captured in attempt to trade her for the Marines' Battleship only to deserting her and her crew to the Marines because Akainu is on the Ship and arrested Bonney not before she declares that she will never forgive the Marines and the World Government. Until she managed to broke out of prison unlike her crew who were remain captive causing her to travel in solo.
She read of Luffy and Law's alliance while eating pizza. She later stole pizza to turn into an older woman and later a kid to avoid the pizza shop owner as well reading Doflamingo's downfall at Luffy's hands. She became an elder woman known as Conney to infiltrate Mary Geoise (the capital of the World Government) and sadly witnessed her father, Kuma was a slave of the World Nobles. She later met Sabo (the brother of her rival, Luffy) at some time ago when they both share a common goal which is restore Kuma's senses. She was given a location to Egghhead by Sabo and left. After her escape from Mary Geoise, her bounty increased to 320 million berries. Bonney later return to Egghead Island to get revenge on Dr. Vegapunk. However, her ship was eaten by a giant mechanized shark until she was saved by the Straw Hat Pirates. She, Luffy, Tony Tony Chopper and Jinbei were separated from the group. She thanked Luffy for saving but also reminded them that they're rivals. She shown displeased that Luffy is now an Emperor and Jinbei is his crew mate. She eventually formed an alliance with her rival to search for Vegapunk. Though she reminded them they are rivals, they enjoyed eating together when tapping Vegapunk's vending machine. She used her powers to temporarily change herself, Luffy, Chopper and Jinbei age to avoid the Pacifista patrol. She listened Jinbe's stories of her father, Kuma's past. When confronted the real Vegapunk, Bonney was about to kill him for what he did to her beloved father, Kuma. But she felt unconscious by her phobia of beetles. Luffy carries Bonney's comatose body to escape Egghead with Vegapunk (who was now targeted by the World Government after they've sent CP0) until they've encountered Luffy's most dangerous enemy, Rob Lucci. The still comatose Bonney was carried by Chopper when Luffy clashed with his longtime enemy, Lucci. After she woke up from her coma, Bonney still attacked Vegapunk for experimenting her beloved father, Kuma though Vegapunk begged Bonney to stop and there is an unknown reason why her dad became a Pacifista. She entered Kuma's memories and found out the truth of her father's past of how he was mistreated during his childhood. She reconciled towards Vegapunk and forgives him. Bonney was given a sapphire necklace from Vegapunk revealing it was meant to be her 10th birthday present from Kuma.
Later on, Luffy, Bonney and their allies defeated the traitorous York for her feeble attempt to become a Celestial Dragons (the people that Bonney hates for enslaving her beloved father, Kuma). Bonney, Luffy, Vegapunk and the others are going to escape Egghead and head to Elbaf (the island of giants).
She confronted with Jaygarcia Saturn (who is the mastermind responsible of Kuma's transformation as a Pacifista). She stabbed the Elder but he grabbed her at her throat. Bonney tries to escape from Saturn's grip but was weakened (due to her experiments). Bonney realized the truth that Saturn is responsible for her mother's death and manipulated Kuma to become a Pacifista. When Kuma arrives, Saturn tries to kill her but was saved by Kuma. After Saturn was punched away by Kuma, the crying Bonney was embraced by the former Warlord with a warm hug. After knowing his secrets, Bonney thanked Kuma as well she doesn't care if anyone calls him as a so-called "tyrant", he is a kindhearted father to her. But when Saturn came out from the rubbles, Bonney tries to tell Kuma to move out of the way but only to be saved by Sanji and Franky (who decided to repay their debts for Kuma after saving them 2 years ago at Sabaody). Bonney tells Vegapunk that Kuma is not moving (due to his injuries) causing the scientist to order Atlas to carry him.
Bonney and the others tries to reach the meeting point but Kizaru destroy the ride. When Saturn ordered Pacifista Mark III to attack, Bonney (learned from Vegapunk that he installed her name into the Authority Chip which is higher even than the Five Elders) ordered the Mark III to attack the Marines instead causing the Pacifista destroy the Marine Battleships. Kizaru was about to kill Bonney but was intercepted by Luffy. Bonney hears the Drum Liberation (the same music and dance she and Kuma always admired of Sun God Nika) as well she learned that Luffy is Nika. She cries and has been waiting for Nika for a long time although Luffy is not aware of Nika. She want Luffy to show her how to throw a punch. She begs him to punch Saturn which Luffy obliges when Luffy overpowers the Elder. Bonney and the others (except Luffy, Sanji and Vegapunk) goes to the meeting point while Luffy and Sanji fights off against Kizaru as well protecting the injured Vegapunk. The Marines are attempting to kill Bonney in order to regain control the Pacifistas but only to be foiled by the Giant Warrior Pirates when Vice Admiral Tosa was easily defeated by Brogy. She and the other are aboarding on the Giant Warrior Pirates's ship but was confronted by three vice-admiral who are attempting to stop her. She easily defeated Vice-Admiral Pomsky while declaring Kuma is not a tool to the Government and he is a hero. She, Franky and Atlas confronted another Elder, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro (who attempted to kill Bonney) but he was intercepted by Sanji as well as Kashii and Oimo. She easily defeated both vice-admirals Doll and Blueglass by turning them into kids although it only temporarily.
Bonney, Luffy and the others managed to escape. But one of the Five Elders, Marcus Mars attempting to stop them. Luffy encourage Bonney to gain the form he showed her. Bonney managed to gain the form similar to Luffy's Gear 5. She, Luffy, Sanji and Franky used a combination attack to send Mars packing when they send him flying to space. The persisted Ju Peter and Warcury tries to stop them from escaping but Luffy and the Emet punched the two Elders. Bonney and the other were soon confronted by the persistently Saturn again. Bonney used her Gear 5 form again when she and Luffy beaten Saturn to a pulp to send him flying towards the ocean for what he did to both her parents, as well she declaring Saturn that he and the other Elders are false gods when real gods and heroes exists as well she wanted to live a happy life which was robbed by the Five Elders. However, Saturn is still persistent as he still regenerates as well he and the other 3 Elders tries to stop her and Luffy from escaping. But luckily, Emeth used Joy boy's Conqueror's Haki to blown the Elders away, sending all but Saturn, back to Mary Geoise allowing Bonney, Luffy and everyone to successfully escape from Egghead, while the Marines (plus the Vice-Admirals) were instantly knocked out by Joy Boy's Haki. Emeth prepare to fight Saturn. After escaping Egghead, Bonney reverted to her true form and sleeps towards her father, Kuma.
After reaching Elbaph, Bonney decided to stay on the Island of Giants with Lilith to restore Kuma's mind.
Powers & Abilities[]
As a Captain of her crew, Bonney has command over her subordinates.
Even as a little girl, she is very strong pirate when she kicked Blackbeard. She defeated Alpha (a cp8 agent) and later Vice Admirals Pomsky, Doll and Bluegrass. Along with Luffy, Sanji and Franky, Bonney was able to overpower Marcus Mars, sending the Elder flying towards space. Along with Luffy, She and Luffy easily pummelled Jaygarcia Saturn (her arch-nemesis) into a blood pulp as a result Saturn lose his conscious while having holes at his body and lost most of his spider legs and horn, sending the Elder falling down to the ocean.
Due to Vegapunk, Bonney has a highest rank of the authority chip (even higher than the Five Elders) when she hold a complete command over the Pacifistas as it demonstrated she ordered the Pacifista Mark III to attack the Marines. However, this only applies to Kuma look-alike. It is unknown if Bonney can control of one of the Seraphims, S-Bear. This caused the Marines and the Five Elders in their attempt to kill her to regain their authorities for the Pacifistas but failed and she got away.
Devil Fruit[]
Bonney was administered the Age-Age Fruit when she was an infant by Jaygarcia Saturn, which is a Paramecia Devil Fruit, to temporarily change anyone (including herself) age, though those changed by this power are only physically (not mentally or psychologically) altered. Most notably, she uses this power to age herself into a young adult (her true age being around 12) and has often used it to disguise herself as an old woman, In combat situations, she typically uses it on foes to age them into weak old men or de-age them into children or infants.
Distortion Future: During the Egghead Arc, after study of Vegapunk's notes on Kuma's biological structure, Bonney awakened a new ability of her fruit that causes her body to age in such a way that it evolves into a higher level of human potential. As such, she is able to transform herself into a Buccaneer, the evolutionary offshoot of humanity that Kuma is a member of. In this form, she becomes larger and more muscular, with superhuman strength, enough to rend metal with ease. She can also use this ability on others, such as when she does so to Luffy, aging him into an alternate version of what he would be at 70 years old.
Distortion Future: Nika Mitaina Mirai: A further awakening of her powers, this technique literally translates to "Distortion Future: a Future Like Nika". By doing so, she transforms via aging into a different evolutionary offshoot, able to stretch her limbs in a way similar to that of Nika and of Luffy's Gear 3 of the Gomu Gumu no Mi. She can also combine this technique with the "standard" Distortion Future, combining the aspects of both forms. During the escape from Egghead, Bonney used a form similar to Luffy's Gear 5.
Toshi Tsuki: Literally meaning "Trace Death Thrust", Bonney can channel her power through a staff weapon, de-aging a foe with a strike. In this case, the target's lost years are manifested in the form of glittering jewels of various shapes and sizes.
Oil Shock: Bonney can apply her power to nonliving objects, causing (for example) metal to corrode, rust, and fall apart.[1]
NDE: Bonney channels this technique through a pistol, shooting the intended target. Rather than a typical wound, the victim ages rapidly until reduced to bones, but then is quickly restored to life and health, though very shaken and afraid due to some sort of hallucination. It is implied this forces the victim to undergo a "near death experience", causing fear and possibly psychological trauma.
Haki[]
Busoshoku Haki[]
Bonney possesses the ability to use Busoshoku Haki, she is an immensely skilled and powerful master of Busoshoku Haki. as she was able to make Luffy one of the Four Emperors bleed and scream in pain in order to transfer the damage to Marcus Mars.
Kenbunshoku Haki[]
Bonney possesses the ability to use Kenbunshoku Haki. as revealed in her vivre card.
Weaknesses[]
Bonney has the standard vulnerability to sea water that all Devil Fruit users do, and if submerged, reverts to her true age. It is theorized that this might also undo the effect of her power on others, or at least make her unable to maintain such changes.
