Jinenji

Jinenji is a hanyou, and a recurring protagonist in the anime Inu Yasha.

Biography

He is the son of a youkai and a human woman. Because his father gave him a field, he lives on this, together with his mother. There he cultivates medicinal plants to help humans. The people in the nearby village despise and fear him, because he is a half-demon, and attack him again and again.

At the time of the plot, an evil youkai nearby is constantly attacking and killing young women from the village. The villagers hold Jinenji for the culprit, and gather their weapons to attack him. Inuyasha and Kagome believe that the guilty is an evil demon. When the villagers want to attack Jinenji, the evil demon also comes and attacks them. But Jinenji helps them, and destroys the evil youkai. Shortly thereafter, the villagers seem to treat him a little better.

Later, Rin arrives at Jinenji, and asks him to help get a medicinal plant for the poisoned Jaken. Jinenji tells her where the plant grows. Later he meets Kagome, and tells her that Rin reminded her of her.

In the last episode of the anime, Kagome and Jinenji work together on a field.

Trivia

Many fans assume that he is a horse-hanyou because the shape of his face resembles the face of a horse. The canon has neither confirmed this theory nor refuted it.
