Powder, better known later on as Jinx, is one of the two main protagonists (alongside her older sister Vi) of Netflix's 2021 animated series Arcane, that is set in the League of Legends universe.
Once a kindhearted and sweet girl that only wanted to help her friends through her inventions, a catastrophic tragedy she unintentionally caused left Powder traumatized and broken. Taking on the name Jinx after being taken in by Silco, a crime lord and her new adoptive father, she becomes an unstable killer in her new father’s service, still confronting the trauma from that fateful night. She is the younger and estranged sister of Vi, eventually becoming the archenemy to both her and Caitlyn Kiramman.
Following Silco's death, Jinx loses all purpose as Zaun descends into anarchy, but unexpectedly becomes a symbol of strength and freedom for the Zaunites. In the meantime, she forms a surprising friendship with a young orphan girl, Isha. Later discovering her sister has become an enforcer to hunt her down, Jinx decides to eliminate Vi once and for all, only for her attempt to end badly. After the arrival of the monstrous creature Warwick, Jinx discovered that he was actually her and Vi's first adoptive father, Vander, who apparently died the day her entire life fractured, pushing Jinx to team up with Vi to find him. Through this adventure, Jinx and Vi finally ended up reconciling.
As a teenager, she is voiced by Ella Purnell who also voiced Gwyndala in Star Trek: Prodigy and portrays Lucy MacLean in Fallout. As a child, she's voiced by Mia Sinclair Jenness.

Background[]
Not much is known about Powder's childhood. All that's known is that she was born in the Undercity to a woman named Felicia and an man named Connol and was relatively happy while growing up with Vi. When their parents are killed in the war between the Undercity and Piltover, Vander takes her and Vi in along with Mylo and Claggor, thus gaining a new family.

As a child, Powder had short bright blue hair with blue eyes and had small braids at the back of her head. She wore a blue short sleeved shirt over a pink and purple striped shirt. She had long bracelets and wore a belt.
As Jinx, she's taller, slender, and has grown her hair out significantly, with her braids now reaching her feet. Her outfit is much more revealing as she wears a top that exposes her stomach and arms. She also has tattoos resembling clouds or smoke all across the right side of her body. After being infused with shimmer, her eyes are now purple and her skin appears to be paler. She lost the middle finger on her left hand after Caitlyn shot it off and has since replaced it with a prosthetic one that has a tiny face drawn on it. During the War with Noxus, Jinx has dyed some of her hair purple and has paint markings all over her clothes and body.

Powder was kindhearted and innocent as a child, eager to prove herself useful to both her sister and adoptive family. Although meaning well, she could be reckless and impulsive as she took Jayce's gemstones from his apartment and went after Vi to save Vander against her orders, inadvertently causing explosions and collateral damage in both cases. Even with these negative traits, she was shown to be a prodigy when it came to her gun skills and innovativeness. Powder was also shown to suffer from mental and emotional problems, feeling abandonded and crying hysterically when Vi left her alone to rescue Vander. These issues only worsened when Vi hit her and seemingly left for good after Vander's death, pushing her into Silco's arms and starting her journey into becoming Jinx.
After becoming Jinx, she was shown to become a lot more confident, skillful, and arrogant than she was as a child. She still had her habit of not following orders as well. Her mental health unfortunately only continued to worsen over the years as she still suffered from the trauma of the night Vander and her adoptive siblings died, subconsciously blaming herself for their deaths. She was shown to suffer from hallucinations of Claggor and Mylo, seeing and hearing them taunting her on several occasions. She came to enjoy killing while working for Silco, being taught by him to not feel guilt. Despite becoming a hardened criminal, a piece of Powder was still inside her. Although claiming Vi wasn't her sister anymore after she "abandoned" her, she cried and hugged her when the duo reunited years after they were seperated, showing Jinx still loves her and sees her as her sister. Her love however became somewhat twisted and possessive, as she gives Vi the ultimatum of killing Caitlyn so she can become Powder again or she'll stay as Jinx. This ultimatum came from Jinx's jealousy as she thought Vi replaced her with Caitlyn when she saw the two of them together. Eventually, Jinx becomes content with who she is now as she comes to understand both her and Vi can't ever truly go back to what they were before as they've changed too much.
In Season 2, Jinx has suffered less from her hallucinations and has become a symbol of hope for the Zaunites, indirectly inspiring them to stand up to Noxus and Piltover when they begin to siege the Undercity, although she isn't initially fond of the idea. When she meets Isha, Jinx becomes extremely protective of her and the two form a close bond, with Jinx becoming an older sister figure to Isha like Vi was to her. Vi and Jinx would later come face to face once again, fighting one another in an extremely violent battle where Jinx would lose her middle finger. As Vi beats her however, Jinx admits she's glad Vi is the one to put an end to her, causing Vi to hesitate, thus still showing a sense of affection between the two. After escaping and freeing the Zaunites from Stillwater while on a mission to rescue Isha, Jinx would show a sense of pride and contentness once the prisoners are free, showing she's warmed up to the idea of being Zaun's symbol of hope. When she disovers Vander is alive, she recruits Vi in a mission to find and cure him. On the way, Vi and Jinx begin to bond once again, with Jinx confiding in Vi she brought her with her because Vander was the father of both of them. The two would appear to fully reconcile when they take Vander to Viktor to see if he can heal him, with both acknowledging one another as sisters.
Jinx was even willing to save Caitlyn if it meant protecting Vander. However, after Isha’s sacrifice, Jinx becomes depressed and turns herself in after saving Vi, giving up entirely. She encourages Vi to get with Caitlyn before escaping and attempting suicide, only stopping thanks to Ekko’s interference. In the end, Jinx comes back to help in the fight against Noxus and even seemingly sacrifices herself to save Vi from Warwick, promising her sister she’ll always be with her.

- This is the first version of Jinx to be shown in any kind of heroic light as all other versions depict her as a crazed psycho who only yearns for violence while Arcane's depiction of Jinx has her shown as a tragic figure who despite all her transgressions, still loves her family.
- Despite her implied death, there are hints in the series finale that imply that Jinx might have survived her "death":
- As the bomb goes off, for a frame, a purple line dashes away from the explosion, resembling the outlines that follow Jinx whenever she engages her fast reaction time.
- Caitlyn can be seen studying the blueprints for the Hextech air ducts while holding Jinx's bomb, implying she might have escaped through there.
- The final shot of the series is an airship flying away from Piltover, a minor callback to Powder's first spoken line of dialogue in reference to the airships: "One day, I'm going to ride in one of those things."
- In an alternate universe, Powder never spiraled down a path of villainy due to the premature death of her sister Vi and, presumably, Jayce, which led to Hextech never being made at all.
- Despite Vi being one of the main protagonists some fans considers Jinx as the overall main protagonist due to her story being mostly the overall focus of the series.
