Ms. Joan Markham is a minor character in The Amazing World of Gumball. She is the school nurse of Elmore Junior High, but is often annoyed at the antics of her students and colleagues. As of "The Cage," she is dating Mr. Corneille.
She is voiced by Sandra Searles Dickinson.
Appearance[]
She is an anthropomorphic bandage who wears a standard nurse's attire, featuring a white dress and hat with red cross symbols on them, alongside white shoes and red sleeves. She also wears glasses and appears to have an overbite. Underneath her hat is flowing, medium-length blonde hair.
Personality[]
Although she is not unskilled at her job, she does not appear to care much about the well being of the students overall, often apathetically or sarcastically dismissing their concerns, particularly those of Teri, whom she finds to be a paranoid hypochondriac. She seems to dislike the stress and annoyance that accompanies her at her job.
However, she is still relatively friendly on some occasions and will assist students when they are in needed of genuine medical help. She also reprimands Ms. Simian for her poor treatment of the students. She showcases a softer and more affectionate side after being wooed over by Mr. Corneille.
Trivia[]
- A running gag exists with Ms. Markham saying "I'm a doctor, not a ____," referencing the wide variety of species at Elmore Junior High. One example is "I'm a doctor, not a mechanic." when asked to fix Bobert, and another is "I'm a nurse, not an artist" when referring to Teri.
