Biography[]
Early life[]
Before joining Neo Venus Construction, Joe developed a deep hatred for the Akrid, the indigenous alien creatures that inhabit E.D.N. III who are hostile to human colonists and sought to join NEVEC to exterminate them. Because of Akrid aggression, many colonists fled E.D.N. III during the first colonization, stranding many humans on the planet and were forced to survive from the Akrid.
NEVEC[]
Joe was loyal to Commander Isenberg and the Frontier Project, believing that his goals will do the good for humanity and the Frontier Project will bring the end of the Akrid and transform E.D.N. III from a hostile icescape into a warm paradise. At some point, Yuri Solotov approached Joe about the project and because he was loyal to Isenberg, he didn't believe anything he said to him. Yuri gives Joe a device for the Harmonizer and a letter telling him to find a Snow Pirate named Wayne Holden and deliver the attachment to him while at the same time, Commander Isenberg ordered him to also look for Wayne aswell.
Joe was assigned to a NEVEC military base when he first encounters Wayne while rendezvousing with Basil. After intense encounter, Joe attempts to kill Basil with Wayne's pistol but was knocked out and captured. Rick used his Personal Data Assistant (PDA) to encrypt secret data which he finds his profile and information about the Frontier Project and the Volcano Dome, the focus point for NEVEC's thermal energy refinement and an important facility for the project. Wayne promises to free Joe as long as he guides Wayne and his fellow Snow Pirates to the Volcano Dome which he agrees and guides the trailer to the dome proximity.
Fight against the Frontier Project[]
Even though Joe was able to leave due to his agreement with Wayne, he decided to stay after growing attached to the group. Wayne encountered Commander Isenberg via (via holographic projected image) after infiltrating the facility. After awhile, Joe had a final lead relating to NEVEC thermal energy refinement, an abandoned NEVEC processing plant within the lower canyons and a subterranean area below that contains a huge deposit of thermal energy left untouched, Joe believes that amount of thermal energy will provide a boost for the Frontier Project. Wayne journeys to investigate the refinery, he discovers a massive heat signature which is a Category-G Akrid, Tendale, a massive 4 legged spider. Wayne defeats it and soon encounters NEVEC Field-Commander, Bandero who injures him in which Joe unintentionally leads him into a trap. Joe fires his Anti-VS Rifle at one of the GAB-25M Vital Suits and protects Wayne from further harm. Bandero reveals the secret of the Frontier Project and that it'll exterminate all life on E.D.N. III before it starts the terraforming process. This shocked Joe feeling betrayed, after Wayne passes out and Bandero disarms Joe, Rick saves the duo by firing the Anti-VS Rifle and distracts him by destroying the second GAB-25M as they escape from the facility.
Joe who is now trusted and dedicated in stopping the Frontier Project, guides Wayne to the Orbital Elevator, a massive NEVEC complex where the Frontier System is housed and where Yuri Solotov is being detained. He provides the quickest route to the Orbital Elevator but requires going through an Akrid hive. After reaching the rendezvous point, him, Wayne, Luka and Rick journey into NEVEC territory, Joe gives Wayne the attachment given to him by Yuri before. He tells the others that Yuri has been imprisoned not far from the orbital elevator. Joe and Wayne split up and Luka and Rick goes to free Yuri. Along the way, Wayne meets Bandero , Wayne tells Luka not to wait for him and Rick to take care of her. Wayne then fights Bandero to claim back his father's VS. Basil sacrifices herself to buy Wayne time. Yuri dies in Wayne's arms. Joe enters the elevator and disables the Frontier System. Shortly after Wayne defeats Isenberg, Joe destroys the System once and for all.
