Joe Yabuki (矢吹 丈, Yabuki Jō or nicknamed just Joe, ジョー, lit. Jō) is the protagonist of Ashita no Joe. He was a Bantamweight professional boxer and member of the Danpei Tange Gym. He became the OPBF Champion after defeating Kim Yong-Bi and went on to challenge Jose Mendoza for the WBC and WBA Belts. However, Joe died after the last round during from his harsh weight cutting, advanced stages of CTE, and damage from the match.
His most prominent boxing matches were gainst Tōru Rikiishi, Carlos Rivera, Kim Yong-Bi, and Jose Mendoza.
