John is the deuteragonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's Novel Trilogy.
He is Charlie's childhood best friend and love interest having grew up in the town of Hurricane with their friends. However him and his friends would end up going their seperate ways when five kids go missing at their local Freddy Fazbear's Pizza including his friend Michael. Ten years later, John returns to his hometown of Hurricane for Michael's memorial and ends up helping Charlie uncover the secrets of her past and the demons of her father Henry.
Appearance[]
John is a young man of average height with messy, wavy brown hair. For his attire he wears a white shirt with navy blue jeans and a dark brown jacket.
Personality[]
John is generally an easy going, kind, supportive man who never hesitates to help his friends even in the face of danger. This is shown when he actively attacked both Foxy and Freddy to protect Charlie as well as the Twisted animatronics and Circus Baby. He also actively helped in Charlie's invenstigations and quests for answers. He was also empthetic and kind ensuring the mother of Jocob that they would find her child. He also ensured Charlie that her father could not have been guilty of the murders and even told her that although she lost her family she still has her friends. He also had a deep love and affection for Charlie which is needess to say. He always stood by her side no matter the cost and dangers. He however was not as open with these feelings as he would like as when he admitted to Charlie he loved her he covered it up later as comradery rather than actual affection. This would later be something he heavily regretted when Charlie died. He also was able to immedietly tell that Circus Baby was not actually Charlie judging by the little details. After he witnesses Charlie's supposed death and the emergence of Circus Baby impersonating her his demeanor took a bleak turn. He became quite depressed and saddend at one point becoming distracted from his job resulting him getting fired.
John also had a somewhat wrathful side to him although it was seldom shown. When he found out that William Afton was the one who murdered the five kids including his friend Michael, he immedietly punched him in the jaw and even called him a jackass. When a gas station attendant tried to prank him with a stuffed coyote he threw it into the street in retaliation. He also outright told Jessica that Charlie was dead and he knew that the one they were seeing was an imposter. Essentially not even trying to be sutble about his feelings.
History[]
Background[]
John was born circa 1978 and grew up in the town of Hurricane, Utah with his friends, Carlton Burke, Michael Brooks, Lamar, Jessica, Marla and his childhood crush Charlotte Emily. Charlie and John would often spend alot of time together even at one point kissing under an oak tree, albeit in a childish way. The friends would also spend time at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza as Charlie's dad owned the joint. However one day in July of 1985, he witnesses something strange. A man in a yellow bear suit luring away his Michael. The moment he took his eyes off them they were gone. As it turned out the man had lured away Michael and four other children to the backroom and murdered them. Following this incident the gang went their seperate ways and most of them moved away save for Carlton.
The Silver Eyes[]
Ten years later, John is informed of the upcoming memorial dedicated to Michael. Thus he goes to Hurricane to attend. He reunites with his childhood friends Jessica, Charlie and Carlton, and they decide to return to the place where Michael died: Carlton told friends that the pizzeria is now an incomplete shopping mall that was built on the site of the restaurant, but after further investigation, the friends discover that the restaurant is still standing and the mall was built around it.
After hacking it, they explore the abandoned pizzeria and discover that the animatronics are still standing in place.
The next day, John and his friends attend Michael's memorial service at their old school, where Michael's parents give a speech about him. Later, John confesses to Charlie that he saw a strange man in a yellow Freddie suit in a pizzeria on the day of Michael's death, and now he suspects that this man could be Michael's killer.
In the evening, John, Jessica, Charlie and Carlton return to the restaurant, accompanied by their friends Lamar, Marla and her 11-year-old brother Jason.
They discover a still functioning control panel that makes the animatronics move, and Charlie finds a fourth fox pirate robot, Foxy, who cuts her arm with his hook. The next morning, Charlie tells John that before moving to Hurricane, her father owned another restaurant called Fredbear's Family Diner, in which two animatronics played on stage — golden versions of Freddie and Bonnie.
John takes Charlie to an abandoned diner in New Harmony, and she remembers the day her twin brother Sammy was abducted by someone in a Golden Bonnie costume, which led to the diner going out of business and Charlie's parents getting divorced. She suspects that Sammy's abduction and Michael's murder are connected. That evening, the friends go to Freddie's pizzeria again, but they are caught by mall security guard Dave Miller, who threatens to call the police, thinking they came with drugs. Charlie suggests that Dave explore the restaurant with them, and he agrees. Inside, the friends are playing with the control panel, and while they are distracted, Dave retrieves Bonnie's yellow suit from the closet and kidnaps Carlton, which Jason witnesses.
The friends run out of the restaurant after Officer Dunn, but discover that the restaurant door was chained while they were gone. Later, when the boys stay over at Clay Burke's, Charlie talks to John about his father; he closed the restaurant and committed suicide after Michael's murder, leading many people in town to suspect that he was a child killer. John suggests she go to the library.
Charlie and John go to the library to study the history of Fredber's family diner, and find an old newspaper article about Sammy's abduction with a photo of Dave, whom the newspaper identifies as the co-owner of the diner.
Marla bursts in to them and tells them that Jason ran off to the pizzeria behind Carlton, and they, along with the others, go looking for him. Animatronics attack the guys there, and Foxy almost killed Charlie, but John managed to save her.
Later, when Clay saves the friends, they are stopped by Dave (who confessed that his name is actually William Afton), and almost kills Charlie, however, due to the fact that he was dressed in a golden Bonnie costume, she manages to activate the spring clamps, thereby forcing William to fall and let her go, starting to scream in pain.
Animatronics take out Afton's body, and the guys leave the pizzeria. After that, John, Jessica and Charlie leave for a motel.
The next day, everyone except John and Charlie finally leave Hurricane who's where. John says he will leave a little later, and at Charlie's request, takes her to the cemetery, to her father's grave.
The Twisted Ones[]
John went on a date with Charlotte after she was with Clay, talking about the dead man's body out in the field. He went with Charlotte to eat at a Thai restaurant he invited her to.
After eating at the Thai restaurant, they went to see a movie called Zombies vs. Zombies, it reminded Charlie about her twin brother Sammy. After the date, John took her to the park; Charlie said "it was awkward". When she went home, Jessica was excited and asked "So? how did it go?". Unwilling to reply truthfully, Charlie nervously answered "It was ok".
Later on, they discover that the authors of this are animatronics are created by William Afton. Not only that, but they also discover that Charlie is the target of these creatures. Knowing that more people could die, the girl decides to go alone to the next point where the animatronics were going to attack, being captured by them.
She is taken to an underground pizzeria, where she is quickly rescued by her friends, who had followed nothing more nor less than the original animatronics of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. However, they are surrounded by twisted animatronics, commanded by William Afton, who is now undead; With his new body, he calls himself Springtrap .
They manage to escape their attackers, even managing to burn down Twisted Bonnie and Twisted Wolf . Then Charlie sees that Springtrap escapes and starts chasing him, leaving her friends behind. When they are about to leave, Charlie is captured by Twisted Freddy (who is terribly damaged) and introduced into the springlocks trap. Although his friends tried to free her, the trap is activated and Charlie is crushed by the mechanisms of the suit.
As Charlie's friends mourn over her death, a woman drives up and got out. She was slim and tall, with long, straight brown hair that glistened in the sun. She strode purposefully toward the diner. They all watched motionless, as if the slightest sound might rupture the illusion and send her away. The woman was almost at the door.
They rushed to the doorway to meet her just as she walked in. Arty seemed confused, his mouth opened slightly and his brow furrowed. John watched for a steady moment, then turned away decisively, facing across the table with a grave expression. He didn’t speak until Arty met his gaze. “That’s not Charlie.”
The Fourth Closet[]
John didn't find a soul mate after losing Charlie, and just started working and earning a living. He worked at a construction site, but there he was a kind of introvert who avoided events and just wanted to tune in to work. Later he will be fired from there for another delay.
After meeting Jessica, he learns that Charlie is supposedly alive. He can't accept it, because he himself saw Charlie die in animatronics. After his first meeting with Charlie, suspicions did not fade, and Jessica's only added.
They decided to go to the ghost town where Aunt Jen lives, she was the last person Charlie loved. Aunt Jen does not give exact answers to questions about Charlie, but John manages to find a secret room with a chest in which the real live Charlie lies. At this time, the fake Charlie comes to Jen, and kills her, John and Jessica escape. Later, there is a meeting between Charlie and the fake Charlie, in which both Charlies lose their lives. Later John visits Charlie's grave, where he sees a woman who looks similar to Charlie reaching her hand out to him.
