History[]
Mortal Kombat[]
Johnny Cage made the audacious choice to participate in the Mortal Kombat tournament and patiently waited at the harbor for the ship bound for Shang Tsung's island, accompanied by his agent and secretary. Despite their anxious pleas, expressing concerns for his safety, Johnny remained resolute, assuring them that no one would dare lay a finger on him. As he boarded the ship, he found himself accosted by none other than Kano, the leader of the Black Dragon, and his cohorts. Luckily, Liu Kang, a Shaolin Monk, came to Johnny's aid, dispatching the thugs while the martial arts superstar seized the opportunity to knock down Kano with a Shadow Kick. Post-brawl, Johnny and Liu Kang exchanged introductions.
Upon arriving at the island, Johnny joined forces with Liu Kang and Sonya Blade, a Special Forces member, discovering that this tournament was a fight to protect the world from being invaded. In the climactic showdown between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung, Johnny and Sonya were forced to work with Kano against the rampaging Goro near a pit. As Shang Tsung's fortress crumbled with his defeat, Johnny nearly fell into a pit of flames, but was saved by Raiden, who threw hum through a portal to the East China sea, where Johnny would be picked up by a Special Forces boat near the island. There, he encountered Major Jax Briggs, who interrogated him about Sonya's whereabouts. Johnny detailed the events on the island, though Jax doubted the veracity of his story. Following his release, Johnny went on to produce the movie "Mortal Kombat," immortalizing his experiences on film.
Mortal Kombat II[]
Soon afterwards, during a commercial for his own brand of cologne, Johnny shocked to be attacked by an Outworld attack squad, led by Shang Tsung. Johnny found himself fighting for his life, but was aided by Jax, with Johnny managing to take out Baraka. The fight was ended when Raiden appeared, leading to Shang Tsung proposing a second tournament. Johnny informed Jax that his partner had been killed, leading to the Major to agree with joining the tournament, with Johnny simply noting "Here we go again. " Johnny once again joined forces with Earthrealm warriors in Outworld, including Liu Kang, to protect their realm. After Liu Kang defeated Shao Kahn, and Johnny returned to Earthrealm, where he had been presumed missing.
Mortal Kombat 3/Trilogy[]
Before Johnny could begin working on a new film, Earthrealm faced a massive invasion from Shao Kahn's forces, and Johnny Cage, as one of Raiden's warriors, was not affected by Earth's souls being stolen. While fighting the invasion, however, Johnny was killed in a confrontation with Motaro. Despite his death, Johnny was not able to join the afterlife due to the invasion, allowing him to stay somewhat alive, and determined to avenge his death. Sadly, Johnny also learned that is they were able to end the invasion, he would die for good. Emboldened to do the right thing, he aided his friends against Shao Kahn, and bade farewell as he went to the afterlife.
Mortal Kombat 4/Gold[]
During Shinnok's invasion, Johnny Cage was restored to life with Raiden's help to aid in the battle against the Army of Darkness. Along with Sonya, he rejoined his allies, and headed to Edenia to combat the invasion. He aided in the battle with his minons. After Liu Kang defeated Shinnok, Johnny returned to his Hollywood career, although in his ending, he embarrassed himself during an awards speech, leading him to be pelted with fruit.
Deadly Alliance[]
In the years that followed, Johnny continued his career, but found frustration in the script for The Death of Johnny Cage. While forced to continue the project, Johnny was summoned by Raiden in readiness for a new threat. Joining his allies in dramatic style via parachute, Cage learned that things were dire, as an alliance was formed between Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, and Liu Kang had been killed by them. After preparing themselves, Johnny and the Earthrealm warriors headed to Outworld to confront the new threat. In his ending, after defeating the Deadly Alliance, Johnny Cage funded a new movie retelling this adventure.
Mortal Kombat: Deception[]
As revealed in Deception, however, tragically Johnny did not live to confront the Alliance, as he and many others were killed by their Tarkatan horde in the final assault. Afterwards, Johnny and the others were revived as slaves of Onaga the Dragon King, becoming entangled with the dark forces at play. However, Johnny was freed thanks to the efforts of Liu Kang's spirit and the redeemed Ermac, and he aided the others against Onaga.
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon[]
Fast forward to Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Johnny Cage found himself disheartened by the lack of cohesion and leadership among Earthrealm warriors. Visions of Shinnok's sinister actions prompted him to investigate, confirming his suspicions on Shang Tsung's island. There, he confronted Shinnok and engaged in a battle against the Forces of Darkness during the Battle of Armageddon. Amidst the conflict, Johnny faced formidable adversaries, including Darrius and Kano, but ultimately met his demise. His attempt to climb the Pyramid of Argus led to him being sent flying off by Hsu Hao. In his non canon ending, Johnny absorbed Blaze's powers, and elected to give up his superficial life. Johnny would become enlightened after studying with the Shaolin. In the canon version of events, on the battle ground, Johnny Cage would end up being decapitated, marking a brutal end that encapsulated the Armageddon saga.

Quotes[]
“ | Talk is cheap! it's also a distraction. You should learn to do before you strike an opponent. | „ |
~ Johnny to Baraka, after knocking him out, Mortal Kombat II comic. |
“ | It used to be, when there was a threat to Earthrealm, that Raiden would rally the Forces of Light to face the enemy in Mortal Kombat. Somehow he could always discover the truth behind the deception. I was one of his allies and fought with him against the Forces of Darkness. In those early days Liu Kang was the point man, he was the star. The rest of us played supporting roles, clearing the way so he could take on the main threat. But times have changed. Raiden has abandoned us. He's become darker, using more ruthless ways to keep the "peace." And Liu Kang was killed. Though his spirit is still around to help us, eventually he'll pass on into the Heavens. It seems like we have no clear leader. We're just not the fighting force we once were. We're scattered all over the realms. Maybe it's because there hasn't been a real threat since we took care of the Dragon King, I don't know. But I can't help but feel uneasy about the future. I used to think, "What if there's a new threat? Who's gonna lead us?" With Raiden gone, how would we even tell when something bad is about to happen? | „ |
