Johnny Dangerously, also known as Johnny Kelly is the titular character and protagonist of the 1984 gangster parody movie Johnny Dangerously. He is the archenemy of Danny Vermin.
He is portrayed by Michael Keaton who also portrayed Batman.
Biography[]
Childhood[]
As a child, Johnny was a paperboy from a working-class family, who first meet Danny Vermin, who would become his worst rival, after the latter attempted to bully him into stop delivering papers to the neighborhood. However, Johnny refuses and defeats Vermin in fight. After his criminal father, Killer Kelly, was put on death row, Johnny's mother, Ma, has been supporting him and his younger brother Tommy, who is interested in law, as a single parent. When Ma starts to develop health problems, which requires an expensive operation, Johnny is given a chance to pay for it when local gangster Jocko Dundee, who learned of his fight with Vermin, offers him $50 in exchange for helping him rob his rival's, Roman Moronie, nightclub. Although Johnny does not want to something illegal, he agrees as he sees no honest way to pay for his mother's operation. Johnny helps Dundee and his gang Moronie's nightclub by hiding their guns in his newspapers. After successfully aiding them in robbing the nightclub, along with saving Dundee in from being shot, they ask Johnny for his name and tells them to call him "Johnny Dangerously".
Adulthood[]
In his adult life, Ma continues to have health problems and Tommy, who became a law student, is having trouble paying his tuition, so becomes a fulltime enforcer for Dundee. The neighborhood, including the pope, is aware of his double life as "Johnny Dangerously". However, Ma and Tommy are oblivious to this believing that Johnny is famous nightclub owner. The gang also is unaware of both Ma and Tommy. When Johnny hears Tommy plans dropout of law school to marry his girlfriend Sally and have sex with her, Johnny convinces Tommy keep attending law school having him watch a public health film called "Your Testicles and YOU". At Dundee's hideout, Johnny learns that his rival Vermin and his sidekick Dutch has joined Dundee's gang. After robot with a machine sent by Moronie fails to kill the gang, Johnny gets revenge by having biplane drop a bomb on Monronie's nightclub and destroys it, although Moronie wanted an expansion for the nightclub anyway.
Personality[]
Although a criminal, Johnny is an honest and kind heated man who is only committing crimes to pay for his mother's medical problems and his brother's law school tuitions. Johnny is also well-liked everyone, expect Vermin, so much, he has a salesman selling "I Love Johnny" shirts.
