Jonathan Brisby is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Nicodemus) of the 1982 film The Secret of NIMH, which was based on the 1971 novel Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien.
Jonathan was the deceased husband of Mrs. Brisby and father of Teresa, Martin, Cynthia and Timothy. His voice was never heard. He was the bravest of all of the 20 rats and 11 mice of NIMH. Without his bravery, none of them would have survived escaping through the ventilation system. He was, according to a journal Nicodemus wrote, killed drugging Farmer Fitzgibbons' cat Dragon.

Jonathan helped lead the rats out of NIMH. Once the rats built their home in the Fitzgibbons' rose bush, he volunteered to drug Dragon's food whenever they wanted to embark on a big project. However, he was killed before the events of the film, and him being a mouse of NIMH is a driving force of the plot.
