Jory Cassel is a minor character in the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series and HBO adaptation Game of Thrones. He is a member of House Cassel and the loyal captain of the Stark household guard at Winterfell. He is also a war veteran from Greyjoy's Rebellion and Robert's Rebellion, and his father Martyn was killed in the latter by King Aerys II Targaryen's Kingsguard. During 298 AC, he becomes the captain of Eddard Stark's household guard in King's Landing.
He is a skilled warrior and likes to joke around. He has a wry smile, which he often shows to Arya Stark.
In the television series, he is portrayed by Jamie Sives.
Biography[]
Jory serves the Starks for many years and was held in very high regard by the the family. After the incident between Arya Stark and Joffrey Baratheon where Arya's direwolf, Nymeria, attacked Joffrey. Jory helped Arya chase the direwolf away to protect her.
Jory also helped Ned investigate the circumstances of Jon Arryn's death. Later Jory was killed by Jaime Lannister out of anger over Ned's wife Catelyn having his brother Tyrion arrested.
