Joseph Gibson, referred to as Super Joe, is one of the main heroes in both Capcom's military-themed video game series: Commando and Bionic Commando. Though he was not the main protagonist of the first Bionic Commando game, in the overseas territories such as in the U.S, his name was alternated into "Super Joe" before being sold as the next entry to Commando. However, his name was not mentioned in the first game.
In later versions of Bionic Commando, Gibson is formerly became a victim, but instead of rescuing people, he demands who will be the hero to save him. This mission was completed by Nathan Spencer. Unfortunately, in the last stage, he hears the enemy radio signal, it was rumored that he was unstoppable and destroyed several enemy forces highhandedly while Spencer is handling his mission to fight his target, Master D.
In the second entry of the series, Gibson is a soldier of the F.S.A military with leadership skills and meticulous attention to detail under the alias called 'The Supervisor". At the end of excelling many behind-the-lines chapters, he is known again as "Super Joe", left the army to pursue a career in one-man contract and form together with both former military officers Howard Powell and Thomas Clarke in a military group of mercenaries called M.E.R.C.S. In the appearance of the game, Super Joe appears to be blue as in the previous installment.
