Joy

Joy is a heroine in the Shenmue 2. She is a young Chinese woman who can most often be seen around Aberdeen in Hong Kong, China riding her motorcycle.

She was voiced by Rio Natsuki in Japanese version and Lisa Wilkerson in Shenmue II and Luci Christian in Shenmue the Animation in English.

History

Joy is well known in the area because her father Chunyun Liang is a well-established businessman. While he trades with Master Chen in Yokosuka. As such, a lot of people know and are friendly to Joy.

Since her father trades with Master Chen, Joy and his son Guizhang Chen know each other very well and consider each other friends. As seen in Shenmue side story, Guizhang was once again rescued her as a little girl. However, Joy quickly develops an interest in Ryo when he arrives there and tries to help him out, although he acts coldly toward her at first. Her brash attitude leads many to misunderstand her, Ryo included, but beneath the surface, Joy is really a good-natured person at heart who just wants to help even if she's a bit nosy and overestimates herself.

Joy is a friends with the various Heavens members such as Wuying Ren and Xianweng Ni (Wong).

Personality

Joy has an outspoken and confident personality, contrasting the more reserved and shy personalities of Nozomi Harasaki and Shenhua Ling. She is lives a risky life on the edge, but she is street smart to make up for it.

Trivia

• Joy's eyes are blue for her in-game model. However, in a renders file, her eyes are shown to be brown instead of blue.
