Joy Boy is one of the overarching protagonists of the One Piece franchise. He was a legendary figure from the Void Century, believed to be the very first pirate that came into history. He played an important role during his time, including leaving behind the most valuable treasure on Laugh Tale known as the One Piece.
Though he has since passed away, his influence continues to play relevance in today's generation. Many years later, a young pirate named Monkey D. Luffy would end up eating the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika and gain the form of the Sun God himself. His actions against has led many to believe he is the coming age of the new Joy Boy.
He is voiced by Urara Takano (who also voiced Monkey D. Luffy in the first original OVA series) in Japanese.
Appearance[]
Joy Boy's mystery remains relatively in mystery, but many have noted that Luffy bears a strong resemblance to him. The one time he has been seen, he appeared to a long cape and a hat that bears a resemblance to a straw hat. Much like his successor, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika granted him appearance identical of that to Nika himself.
Personality[]
While much of Joy Boy's personality remains in mystery, he is believed to have been a figure of joy and hope that inspired others to be free. In the past, he has shown to be kind and compassionate towards his friends such as Emet, who he informed he would always watch over him after his death and entrusted him with his Supreme Haki for future use.
