The Madrigals and other villagers were forced to leave their home due to civil war and, after Pedro sacrificed his life to protect them from a group of oncoming conquerors, were granted a miracle of the "Encanto" magic, which also provided them a magical Casita to live in.
As Julieta and her siblings grew up, they were granted "gifts" in the form of magical powers, with Julieta receiving the ability to heal any injury or sickness by cooking and feeding people her food.
Trivia
- It is unknown if Julieta's powers work on extremely fatal injuries.
- Julieta isn't able to heal naturally occurring incidents, as Mirabel still needs to use glasses, Osvaldo has a gut, and the priest is bald.
