Biography[]

Jun Himeya, who had a passion for photography, had one lifelong mantra: put his life on the line in exchange for something more valuable. As a photojournalist, Himeya specialized in warfare photography. During an assignment in a war-torn country, he was severely injured and was nursed in a rural village by an orphan named Sera. During his recovery, the two became close under her care. While recuperating, Himeya would come and help Sera with chores like carrying water to the community.

With the death of her family due to the war, Himeya took on the role of a father/brother figure for her and began to see her as a daughter/little sister. Sera was tragically caught in the crossfire of a warzone Himeya had created for himself, and as a result, she was killed in an explosion as she ran towards him. Himeya returned home, distraught and regretful. As a painful irony, the collage of photos he obtained, particularly of the battlefield that claimed Sera's life, rocketed him to stardom, much to his dismay.

The confluence of his newfound renown by the newspaper corporation and his wartime experiences transformed his passionate personality into a jaded, melancholy individual who despised himself, loathed his existence, and believed that anyone who formed a link with him would suffer certain death.

His experience with his publishing firm and former colleagues such as Jinzou Negoro led him to be dubious of the motives of institutions like the TLT. Following this, he would leave the newspaper publisher where he worked and fall into a drunken stupor due to the shame he felt for his role in Sera's death.

It was about this time that he had reoccurring dreams of following Sera into the bush to mysterious ruins. At the end of one of these dreams, Himeya encountered the Light. Perceiving it as atonement for the mistakes he was unable to right in the past, he would utilize the power of the Light to safeguard humanity and combat those who would harm their future stability.

Willing to give his life to protect, his battle would begin with Galberos being called by the Dark Field G as his integration with Nexus became complete. Despite being initially perceived as an enigmatic character by the majority of the Night Raiders and a Space Beast by one, rookie Kazuki Komon believed otherwise after being saved by him on his journey to Fortress Freedom.

Given that Komon was the first Raider to meet Jun and the first civilian he rescued from a Space Beast, he gradually developed a bond with Komon, rescuing him several times, and Komon began to research Himeya's past after making contact with Stone Fluegel. Komon also kept Himeya's identity as Nexus hidden from his superiors, and he frequently clashed with his immediate superior Nagi Saijyo over whether Nexus was an ally or a threat to the human race, particularly after the Chrome Chesters were indirectly responsible for Himeya's wounding while fighting a Bugbuzun.

Jun swiftly discovered new foes in addition to the Space Beasts and TLT when he confronted the dark Ultra Faust, an entity that claimed to be the shadow of his Light.Devil, Faust - As an entity with inverse powers to Himeya, Faust proved to be a devastating enemy, especially given her capacity to contaminate his Meta Field manipulation, making him vulnerable in their encounters.

Himeya and Faust battled on multiple occasions, with Faust demonstrating leadership or at least companionship with the Space Beasts. Despite losing the majority of his battles in the Dark Field, Himeya held his own by repeatedly hurting her, causing her to retreat. This would go on until their final battle. There with Komon, who had been saved from the power of a Beast, they found the Faust's true identity—Riko Saida, Komon's lover.

It would be revealed that the ex-deputy captain of the Night Raiders, Shinya Mizorogi, like his master, had foreseen Komon's enlistment into the Night Raiders and had Riko killed six months before and revived as a puppet as part of Mizorogi's game. Faust and Nexus battled one final time. Komon, having been brought into the Dark Field, managed to interrupt the energy drain that temporarily pulled Riko's persona as the dominant subconscious of her dark Ultra's identity, halting her power drain over Himeya. Mizorogi summoned Nosferu to kill Komon, but he was guarded by Riko, receiving a lethal blow. Though Himeya would cover for her by killing the Beast, there was nothing he could do to help Komon as he grasped his girlfriend's hand as she died, disintegrating into light particles.

Following his bouts with Faust and Lafleya, TLT concluded that Ultraman posed no threat to humanity and stopped targeting him. Despite this good news, a new problem surfaced following Faust's death: her owner, who possessed a dark Ultra power of his own, had switched his attention to Komon, hoping to transform him into another puppet for his delight in taunting Nagi. Komon's grief over Riko's death made it even easier for Mizorogi to promote his agenda.

While Mizorogi's plan with Komon failed, he was almost successful in attracting his former girlfriend Nagi to him. Near the end of his employment as a Dunamist, Himeya revealed his identity to Captain Wakura and quickly transformed into Nexus to cope with a second Galberos despite his disadvantage in the Dark Field. This would directly motivate Nagi to rebel against Mizorogi's temptations and shoot him.

During his combat, Himeya was injured in the left arm by Galberos and fled the warehouse in agony. When confronted by an armed Nagi, Captain Wakura managed to calm the situation by explaining his faith in Nexus and Himeya, pushing him to join TLT, which Himeya denied. While he did not have a great friendship with Nagi during his time as Nexus, it wasn't until Captain Wakura intervened that Nagi was able to put her feelings about Himeya aside and come to see him as an ally rather than a foe, such as warning the Memory Police of their impending arrival.

Despite being severely injured, Himeya would still rue his failures to save other citizens during his time as Nexus, particularly a young girl named Riko who was caught in Nosferu's forehead, forcing Himeya not to intervene for her safety. Another prominent example is an amateur photographer who idealized his previous work with his newspaper agency before being eaten by the second Galberos.

After a revived Galberos and Golgolem repeatedly wounded him in his left arm, Himeya struggled to summon the aid of Stone Fluegel, ending in his capture by the TLT. Director Matsunaga experimented on him while in TLT's custody, searching for the Light behind his Dunamist strength. During his apprehension, he was able to communicate with the Illustrator telepathically, attempting to comprehend his need to battle his never-ending cycle of fighting. Himeya died as a result of prolonged exposure to the Beast Oscillation Radiation emitter, which was ordered by TLT technicians.

They followed the Illustrator's suggestion and employed the same energy signature Jun used to morph. The emitter's second exposure allowed the Evoltruster to detect his host's danger, prompting the Light to resuscitate Himeya in the same way that his predecessor had done four years before. The Light teleported him away and helped him get out of danger. Before leaving the base, he saw Komon and a hologram of Illustrator, who warned him that his body might not be able to withstand the metamorphosis process and could kill him again.

Jun left and was nursed by Megumi Sakuta, an old colleague from his previous job. Soon after, the Beast Kutuura came, and Jun chose to continue battling despite the Illustrator's warnings that his body was exhausted. Nexus fought but lost to Kutuura, forcing the Night Raiders to save him.

As the Beast began its killing spree, Himeya quickly plunged into one of its portals after saving Negoro and traveled to the Land of the Dead. It was there that he discovered Sakuta being held hostage by Mizorogi. He also discovered the Beast waiting for him. Despite initially overwhelming the beast, Himeya's injuries proved too severe, causing him to collapse and fall unconscious. Following Mizorogi's hints, the Night Raiders traveled to the Land of the Dead. Despite their disagreements about how it was obtained, the experimentation on him allowed TLT to reconfigure the particles that made up Nexus' energy waves into a new weapon for the Chrome Chesters - the Ultimate Vanisher.

Before he was completely consumed by the ravenous darkness, Himeya saw an apparition of Sera one final time, who revealed to him that the actual nature of the Light was for a bigger purpose: it had been passed down from being to being, desperately striving to protect those close to them. However, Jun misinterpreted the Light's inheritance and regarded it as a means of redemption after failing to save others. Himeya broke free from the ivies, armed with increased strength to safeguard the Light and everything it represented. Despite this momentous incident, a frail Himeya remained at the mercy of Mephisto. Komon, in his Chester, was able to replenish his energy by shooting their final Ultimate Vanisher fire directly into his Energy Core.

Himeya transformed into Junis after being recharged and returned to full strength and ready to confront Mephisto. After saving Sakuta from Mephisto's assassination attempt, Jun flew towards Mizorogi and hit the dark sphere and overloading it with energy, culminating in the implosion of both giants within it, reportedly eviscerating both Himeya and Mizorogi. Before disappearing, Jun appeared to Komon one more time, describing the true nature of the Light, which is a bond to the people who inherited it.

Even though it is believed that Himeya passed away after his battle with Mephisto, throughout Komon's tenure as Noa, a consciousness of him would still reach out to help him climb back up after managing to defeat Mizorogi's previous actions in an attempt to drag him down. Komon moved from Anphans, in Himeya's remembrance, to adopt Junis and carry on his feud with a former comrade. Himeya is seen to be very much alive and well at the end of the series, much like Ren.
