Justice League International is a team founded by Batman, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman to stop Darkseid's invasion. However after Darkseid's defeat they continued to fight together against the forces of evil.
History[]
In "Darkseid Descending!", Batman, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman recruit Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Fire, Ice and Guy Gardner creating The Justice League International as their goal is to stop Darkseid from arriving on Earth however the team members don't get along. They try to stop the arrival of Darkseid but they fail, then they try to take down Darkseid but it also fails. Luckily for them, they get saved by The Question who modified the portal to send Darkseid and his legions back to Apokolips. In the end, the team celebrates but they're still not getting along.
In "Shadow of the Bat!", The Justice League International are summoned by Batman without knowing that he's turned into a vampire. After finding out, they try to fight him but they fail as everyone except Martian Manhunter become vampires but with the help of Etrigan the Demon, Martian Manhunter orbits the base close enough to the sun to incinerate the vampires but in the end it turns out that Batman was just having a hallucination caused by venom in Dala's bite.
In "Time Out for Vengeance!", Batman disapears after a fight with Catman. The Justice League International wonders where he is until Rip Hunter arrives and tells them that Batman's existence is in danger as his time versions are being attacked by evil robots. To save their leader, the team splits into three pairs: Guy Gardner and Ice go to the prehistoric times to save Cave-Batman, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold travel to the 18th Century to save Pirate-Batman from the evil robots and a sea monster and Fire and Aquaman travel to Ancient Rome to save Batmanicus. After they succeed their mission, they return back to base but it turns out that they have completely forgotten Batman as it turns out that there's a future version Batman that is in danger, so The Justice League International travels to the far future to find Robot Batman and the villain behind this, Equinox. They fight Equinox and his minions only for the time variants of Batman to finish the job. After the fragment of Equinox is destroyed, Batman comes back, but as they remember that Equinox has more fragments across the multiverse, they realize that they will face Equinox again.
In "Triumvirate of Terror!"'s prologue, a baseball team version of The Justice League International which includes Robin, Kid Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman, Booster Gold, Plastic Man and Green Arrow plays a game of baseball against the Legion of Doom consisting of Lex Luthor, Joker, Cheetah, Weather Wizard, Felix Faust, and Amazo with Jimmy Olsen as the host. The JLI does its best to win as it even fights The Legion of Doom's cheats and in the end, The Justice League International wins.
In "Powerless!", Captain Atom joins The Justice League International, but it turns out that he's very arrogant with his powers as he even underestimates Batman. During a fight with Major Force, Captain Atom loses his powers and so Batman shows him what without powers is like while Aquaman shows him that you don't need powers to be a hero. The Justice League International tries to defeat Major Force but they fail, however Captain Atom joins the fight, regains his powers and defeats Major Force but despite everything he is still arrogant about his powers.
In "Crisis: 22,300 Miles Above Earth!", The Justice League International host a party on the Watchtower for The Justice Society of America. They try to make a good first impression but it doesn't work out, meanwhile Batman is trying to foil Ra's al Ghul's latest scheme but runs into trouble, he gets rescued by Talia and tries to contact The Justice League International but they don't respond as their failed attempts to bond with The Justice Society turn into a fight. Batman gets caught along with Talia and they get tied up to a rocket which Ra's al Ghul is about to launch into the sun. However both teams arrive to the rescue as they have received Batman's distress signal and they both fight Ra's al Ghul's army. After Batman and Talia are saved, Batman fights Ra's al Ghul and defeats him once and for all. In the end, both teams have finally bonded as Batman and Martian Manhunter observe.
Members[]
- Batman (also known as The Dark Knight and The Caped Crusader) is the leader and founder of JLI. After learning about Darkseid's arrival, recruits heroes for the Justice League International and the members get to be: Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Blue Beetle, Guy Gardner, Booster Gold, Fire and Ice.
- Aquaman is the king of Atlantis and a founding member of JLI. He reveals that the team had a previous incarnation (in which he used to be a part of) but it disbanded due to unpleasant circumstances. He is one of the few members of The Justice League to join the JLI.
- Martian Manhunter is a Green Martian who is the last of his kind after his people were slaughtered by the White Martians and a founding member of JLI. He possesses a wide variety of abilities native to the Green Martian race such as super-strength, nigh-invulnerability, superspeed, flight, regeneration, shapeshifting, intangibility, invisibility, telepathy, telekinesis, and heat vision.
- Blue Beetle is the current owner of The Blue Scarab and one of Batman's most loyal allies. It is possible that due to his loyalty, good heart and determination he got chosen as a member of the JLI. He is close friends with Booster Gold and admires The Justice Society of America, especially Wildcat as his grandfather has told stories about him.
- Booster Gold is a hero from the future who gets recruited for joining the JLI. It is unknown why Batman chose him considering the fact that he can make mistakes and not take things seriously. He doesn't get along with Guy Gardner while he's good friends with the Blue Beetle (probably because he was besties with Ted Kord).
- Guy Gardner is a hot-headed and arrogant member of the Green Lantern Corps, and the third human to earn a Green Lantern ring. Despite his arrogance, Guy gets recruited into joining the JLI. Guy doesn't get along Booster Gold, used to hate Blue Beetle in "Revenge of the Reach!" but became friends with him after Jaime showed that he is not like the Reach. He also has a crush on Ice and wasn't interested with The Justice Society of America as he even had a rivalry with the first Green Lantern.
- Fire is a Brazilian superheroine with the ability to shoot mystical green fire, and one of Batman's allies. Like Batman, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, she is/was a member of The Justice League. She didn't had many major roles or screentime except for the prologue of "Terror on Dinosaur Island!" until she became member of JLI. Her best friend is Ice and in her latest episodes, Fire is seen as bubbly and slightly dim.
- Ice is the airheaded Norwegian partner of Fire and a member of the JLI. In "Shadow of the Bat!", it is revealed that she has a crush on Aquaman showing that she's absent-minded, despite Fire mentioning that Aquaman is married, Ice is apparently unaware of this and instead believes him to be overly preoccupied with (married to) his work. She is also the only superhero that hasn't teamed up with Batman in an episode before joining the JLI.
- Captain Atom is an arrogant, pompous, and egocentricial hero that is very smug of his power. A former airforce captain, Nathaniel Christopher Adams was subjegated to an experiment gone wrong but gave him superpowers, including superhuman strength, flight, and the ability to fire blasts of nuclear energy from his hands. He's known to make media public service announcements and looks down on superheroes who don't possess powers, especially Batman. His first appearance is in "Powerless!" where he became a member of the JLI and despite the temporary loses of his power, he hasn't learned his lesson. Aquaman finds him worse than Booster Gold because Booster is reckless while Captain Atom is arrogant. Captain Atom also appears in "Crisis: 22,300 Miles Above Earth!" as a member of the JLI meaning that he didn't got kicked out.
- Captain Marvel is one of the newest JLI members and the first member to have joined the Justice League International offscreen. He joined the JLI before the events of "Crisis: 22,300 Miles Above Earth!" as this was the only episode where he was seen as a member of the league. He had major focus in the prologue of "Death Race to Oblivion!" and the episodes: "The Power of Shazam!", "The Malicious Mr. Mind!" and "The Siege of Starro! Part One and Two" as he was one of the few heroes that didn't got mind controlled by The Faceless Hunter when he was building an army for Starro.
- Rocket Red a.k.a. Dmitri Pushkin is a kind-hearted and jolly man with a taste for American culture. He has a wife named Belina and two children, Mishca and Tascha. Pushkin joined Russia's national super-guard, the Rocket Red Brigade, to help defend the nation. The program increased volunteers' natural strength and endurance. They were all outfitted with high-tech battlesuits equipped with solar-powered propulsion system, automatic defenses, super-heated plasma blasters, electrified nets, magnetic boots, and mecha-empathic circuitry. He is the second member to join the Justice League International offscreen but unlike Captain Marval, he never had a major role in any episode as his only appearance is in "Crisis: 22,300 Miles Above Earth!" and he doesn't even have lines making him the most minor member of the JLA.
