| “ | We have hope. Rebellions are built on hope. | „ |
| ~ Jyn Erso. |
| “ | Orson Krennic: Who are you? Jyn: You know who I am. I'm Jyn Erso, daughter of Galen and Lyra. You've lost. Orson Krennic: (sarcastically) Oh I have, have I? Jyn: My father's revenge: he put a flaw in the Death Star. He put a fuse in the middle of your machine. And I've just told the entire galaxy how to light it. |

Jyn Erso is the main protagonist of the 2016 epic space opera film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
A human female, she was a high-ranking member as well as a soldier in the Rebel Alliance and the leader of the Rogue One team. Erso played a critical role in stealing the plans for the Death Star from the Galactic Empire, sacrificing her life to ensure the successful transmission of the files to the Alliance.
She was portrayed by Felicity Jones who also voiced Sorrel in Dragon Rider.
Physical Appearance[]
Standing at 1.6 meters in height, Jyn Erso was a human female with short brown hair, green eyes, good physical condition and light skin. She usually wears a full set of grayish-brown clothing, usually with a vest and fingerless gloves. After being captured by the Rebel Alliance, she wears a scarf. Later, during the infiltration of Scarif, she dons the uniform of an Imperial deck technician.
Personality[]
Even as a small child, Jyn began developing a rebellious attitude but had a clear sense of right and wrong gained from her parents while growing up on Lah'mu. During her time with Saw Gerrera's insurgents, she developed a strong bond with the extremists. After being abandoned at sixteen, Jyn was forced to adapt and developed fighting skills and a keen knowledge of the galactic underworld. Initially, Jyn cared little about the Rebels' cause, due to her pessimistic nature generated by her past trauma, seeing it only as a symbol of misery and despair, but after watching the hologram message from her father, Jyn realized how important it was that the Empire be rid from the galaxy and sacrificed herself for their cause. Initially, she was largely focused on saving her father Galen, but was devastated when he died in her arms. Jyn later confronted Cassian Andor for his orders to kill Galen, denouncing his ruthless methods as well as his lies to her and his way of thinking. Despite this, she did not abandon the Rebels. From then on, Jyn was one of the loudest voices calling for people to confront the Empire head-on on Scarif in the name of hope, despite those who didn't share her resolve.
Abilities[]
- Expert Hand-To-Hand Combatant: Trained by Saw Gerrera and later developing her own style on her own, Jyn is adept at unarmed combat. She single-handedly took down three Rebels in less than ten seconds and easily defeated Stormtroopers. As a human, she can't defeat large droids like K-2SO.
- Melee Fighter: Jyn demonstrated great skill in baton combat, knocking Stormtroopers unhorsed and damaging their plastoid armor.
- Survivor Expert: After leaving Gerrera, Jyn managed to survive on her own for years, keeping such a low profile that even the Empire could never find her for years. On Scarif, she managed to infiltrate an Imperial complex without being detected through disguise and controlled zeal until the start of the Rebel attack.
- Markswoman: Jyn has a good blaster skill, like most characters in the franchise. With a single shot, she was able to take down an Enforcer droid by aiming at a vital point.
- High-Level Intellect: Jyn is very intelligent, a good tactician and has a good knowledge of the galactic underworld. Among her exploits were the forgery of imperial documents and the hijacking of ships. She also has instincts, deducing that Stardust was a code name for the Death Star by remembering her father nicknamed her that.
Quotes[]
| “ | Jyn: What is this? Mon Mothma: It's a chance for you to make a fresh start. We think you might be able to help us. This is Captain Cassian Andor, Rebel Intelligence. Cassian Andor: When was the last time you were in contact with your father? Jyn: 15 years ago. Cassian Andor: Any idea where he's been all that time? Jyn: I'd like to think he's dead. Makes things easier. Cassian Andor: Easier than what? That he's been a tool of the Imperial war machine? Jyn Erso: I've never had the luxury of political opinions. Cassian Andor: Really? When was your last contact with Saw Gerrera? Jyn: It's been a long time. |

K-2SO: I'm surprised you're so concerned with my safety. Jyn: I'm not. I'm just worried they might miss you... and hit me. K-2SO: (Quietly, so Jyn can't hear) Doesn't sound so bad to me. |

Cassian Andor: I had every chance to pull the trigger, but did I? Cassian Andor: Did I? Jyn: You might as well have. My father was living proof and you put him at risk. Those were Alliance bombs that killed him. Cassian Andor: I had orders. Orders that I disobeyed. But you wouldn't understand that. Jyn: Orders? When you know they're wrong? You might as well be a stormtrooper. Cassian Andor: What do you know? We don't all have the luxury of deciding when and where we want to care about something. Suddenly the Rebellion is real for you. Some of us live it. I've been in this fight since I was six years old. You're not the only one who lost everything. Some of us just decided to do something about it.
