KD6-3.7, also known as K and Joe, is the titular main protagonist of the 2017 film Blade Runner 2049. He is a Replicant Blade Runner of the "new batch" from 2049, engineered to be less rebellious than the original Replicants.
He is portrayed by Ryan Gosling, who also portrayed Driver in Drive, Sebastian Wilder in La La Land, and Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy.

Background[]
Replicant KD6-3.7 was "born" sometime during the mid-late 2030's through Wallace Corporation and was implanted with false memories to keep him in bay before immediately putting him through intense training before finally becoming a Blade Runner for The Los Angeles Police Department. A vast majority of his jobs would consist of him "retiring" illegal or fugitive replicants. He would also purchase and own an AI companion called Joi of whom he loved deeply.
Blade Runner 2049[]
When "retiring" a Rogue Replicant, K finds strange clues that point to a Replicant having conceived a child. Since Replicants are forbidden to procreate, K is ordered to find the child and "retire" it since if word got out about its existence, it could cause a war between humans and Replicants.
This makes him feel conflicted since he's never had to retire something that was actually "born". Eventually, he decides to rebel against his superior, going against his programming by letting his better nature shine through. This puts him in the crosshairs of Luv, the ruthless second in command of the corrupt Wallace Corporation responsible for the "new batch" of Replicants led by their manufacturer and CEO Niander Wallace Jr who has ordered her to retire the replicant child.
The Replicant mother turns out to be none other than Rachael, with Rick Deckard being the father with the replicant daughter revealed to be Dr. Ana Stelline. This makes Deckard himself a target of Luv. K finds Deckard in in the ruins of Las Vegas where he is ambushed by Luv who destroys Joi's enamator, "killing" her as a result. When Luv manages to capture Deckard, she puts Deckard on a ship to the off-world colonies, most likely to be tortured and killed. K manages to intercept the ship and engages Luv in a knife fight. K manages to kill Luv by drowning her, but not before being fatally stabbed himself. K reunites Deckard with Ana before succumbing to his wounds and dying.
Personality[]
Being a replicant from the new batch, he is trained to show little to no emotion as a Blade Runner in order to complete tasks that are at times questionable and any opposition would result in his death. As a result, K presents himself as stoic and rather serious and rarely ever smiles, which contributes to his intimidating presence when on the job, he is also thorough in completing his tasks as a Blade Runner due to his lack of or rather suppressed emotions.
In actuality, he secretly does have feelings and emotions, underneath his stoicism lies a lonely and depressed man who sought meaning to his mundane life which is the motivation behind his search for the replicant daughter. He also has an AI girlfriend named Joi of whom he loves deeply as she fills in the void of his loneliness and he is also saddened when Joi’s emanator was destroyed by Luv, killing her. Deep down, he is actually heroic and selfless as he develops a bond with former Blade Runner Rick Deckard and found satisfaction in rescuing him and reuniting him with his replicant daughter Dr. Ana Stelline at the cost of his own life.
