Kaede Kayano is the tritagonist and main heroine of the manga/anime series Assassination Classroom. She is a student in Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School, taught by Korosensei, and one of Nagisa Shiota's best friends along with Karma Akabane.
She is later revealed to be Akari Yukimura, the younger sister of the late Aguri Yukimura, who mistakenly believed that Korosensei was responsible for her death and teamed up with Shiro to kill him, before she eventually found out the truth behind her sister' death.

She is voiced by Aya Suzaki in Japanese, who also voiced Mako Mankanshoku in Kill La Kill, Tamako Kitashirakawa in Tamako Market, Shouko Hida in Happy Sugar Life, Ninian in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, and Chai Xianghua in Soulcalibur.
In English she's dubbed by Monica Rial, who also voiced Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia, Secre Swallowtail in Black Clover, Mirajane Strauss in Fairy Tail, Yuzu Kichougasaki in Love Tyrant, Mei Misaki in Another, Tsubaki Nakatsukasa in Soul Eater, and Sayaka Maizono in Danganronpa: The Animation.
In the live action movie adaptation, she is portrayed by Maika Yamamoto.
Biography[]
One of Nagisa's closest friends, she usually takes the role of standing in the background of the class and supporting the others like him. She is the student who gave Koro-sensei his name. She's generally seen as a bubbly and perky student who's always willing to give her fellow classmates a hand whenever they need it. However, there's another side of her that holds a deep hatred of Koro-sensei due to her believing him to be responsible for the death of her sister. And she had secretly injected herself with parasitic tentacles that gave her a barbaric and bloodthirsty second personality.
Appearance[]
Kaede is a teenage girl with green hair (originally black) styled into a pair of unique cat ear-like pigtails and hazel eyes that turn red whenever she reveals her tentacles and true identity. She has a noticeably flat chest (a running gag in the series due to her being teased by the other students due to this, one notable example is her codename being "Forever Flat") and wears the traditional Kunugigaoka Junior High School uniform.
Personality[]
Kaede is generally very upbeat and positive, easily being one of the most cheerful students of Class 3-E. She's incredibly supportive towards her peers and is generally the more kind-hearted, perky foil to Karma in terms of the two as Nagisa's closest friend group.
Kaede is also very selfless and compassionate towards those she cares about. She doesn't hesitate for a moment to protect her allies when they're in danger and actively goes out of her way to keep her classmates and friends safe.
While generally energetic and friendly, Kaede holds a deep hatred for her class' teacher, Korosensei, due to her blaming the latter for her sister's death. Her desire to kill him was what she created her happy-go-lucky persona in order for her to hide her true intentions from her peers. Before then, her only true attributes were her combat related to her sex appeal, tenacity, and skills for adaptation. However, once her Antimatter Tentacles were removed, her persona she created to distance the others from her true intentions became her true personality.

- It's heavily implied that Kaede's love for sweets is a result of her injecting the Antimatter Tentacle seeds into her body, as changes in diet is a side-effect of them possessing a host.
