Kagami Hiiragi, sometimes called "Kagamin" by her close friend Konata Izumi, is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Tsukasa Hiiragi) of Lucky Star. She is the older twin sister of Tsukasa Hiiragi and is also one of the members of the Hiiragi family who likes to have sweet snacks.
She was voiced by Emiri Katō in the Japanese version, and by Kari Wahlgren in the English dubbed version.
Biography[]
In school, Kagami's grades are excellent because she studies very hard. When Kagami was in seventh grade she made it into Ryōō High School and was made the class president in her first year. Kagami always seems to be put in the same class as Misao Kusakabe and Ayano Minegishi. She has been in the same class as those two since fifth grade.
Personality[]
Kagami is a little cranky, brash and aggressive, and can be a bit egotistical at times. Still, she's a good person and cares for her friends, and she's ultimately quite kind despite her harshness.
Kagami is the most sane and normal of the main cast and probably the most normal a Lucky Star character can get. While she does have interests that can be considered "nerdy", as she's fond of light novels and scrolling shooter games, she's much more grounded in reality than the hardcore Otaku characters like Konata, Hiyori or Patty (who all have their various quirks and frequently compare things in real life to anime and games).
Trivia[]
- Konata sometimes calls her "Kagamin". Although it's meant be endearing (usually), Kagami doesn't always appreciate it.
- As the four Hiiragi sisters all have theme naming going on with reference to the Shinto Religion. In Kagami's case, her name refers to mirrors, a sacred object in Shinto and part of the Imperial regalia.
- Kagami may or may not have feelings for Konata that go beyond friendship (the series' creator Kagami Yoshimizu has stated that one of them has a one-sided crush on the other, but he doesn't clarify who), though she has also expressed interest in boys.
