Kami's Predecessor

Kami's Predecessor (先代の神, Sendai no Kami^?) is a former god of Earth and the master of his successor, Kami. In the manga he is never shown while in the anime he appears in flashback and makes an appearance in the Garlic Jr. Saga of Dragon Ball Z.

In Japanese he does not speak, but in English he has some lines in the Funimation dub, voiced by Sean Schemmel, and in the Ocean Group dubs, voiced by Alvin Sanders.

Past[]

Kami's Predecessor was one of the many gods who protected Earth before the beggining of the series. He trained the Nameless Namekian to turn him into the next god and his rival Garlic. The god discovered that Garlic had evil intentions so disowned him as a possible successor. In response to this, Garlic led his Serpent army to attack the lookout and take the throne by force, but Kami's Predeccesor stopped this attack succesfully and sealed Garlic in the Dead Zone, where he will have a son. Kami's Predeccesor told the Nameless Namekian that he will not deserve the position of God as long as he has evil in his heaart. So the Nameless Namekian realized a fission technique to split his evil from his body, becoming into Kami while his evil turns into a independent entity known as King Piccolo. Kami and his predeccessor obseverd how King Piccolo caused a terrible genocide in Earth untill he was sealed by Master Mutaito. Sometime after this, Kami's Predecessor died of natural causes, succeeding his position to Kami.

Dragon Ball Z[]

After Garlic Jr., the spawn of Garlic, used the Black Water Mist to control all the Earthlings, Kami and Mr. Popo tries to use the Sacred Water to undo the curse. This causes tat the previous gods of Earth, including Kami's Predecessor, are awakened from their rest and began to attack them to prevent the Sacred Water would being used. Kami confronts them while Mr. Popo uses the water. Kami told his predecessors that the water must be used to stop Garlic Jr.'s plans. The gods understood this and all returned to death.
