Appearance

Shinji is a relatively short but rather muscular man, as his face is unknown since he has only been shown while he is using his Quirk. His Hero Costume is a dark blue bodysuit that includes a wooden belt, wooden knee pads, and wooden shoes. A small bundle of roses hangs from the left side of his belt.

After he officially became the No. 7 Pro Hero, his costume was slightly modified, and he now has two wooden rings hanging on his shoulders, which have stumps and branches protruding from them.

Personality

Shinji Nishiya is a stoic, calm, serious, and focused person. In his duties as a hero he always thinks before he acts and approaches everything with a precise calculation.

Despite this, however, he is somewhat selfish and egotistical as seen when he scolded Midoriya for attempting to save Bakugo and easily feeling down when someone takes his glory or credit. That indicates he does not have any heroic ideals and only cares for wealth and fame.

He is also shown to be quite emotional when he was invited by Edgeshot to be part of The Lurkers, he cried in happiness for two hours.

Despite his faults, however, he knows when he needs to put his ego aside and be brave as seen when he took Midnight to Gigantomachia's face and got burned by Dabi/Touya's flames.

Abilities

Overall Abilities: Shinji has grown to be an incredibly strong hero during his career as a hero, earning him the spot at the No. 7 ranked hero on the JP Billboard Charts. His skills have led some to believe that he will be a standout hero of the next generation.

Quirk

Arbor: Shinji's Quirk allows him to enlarge and control his wooden body parts into strong tree branches. These branches are excellent for binding. Being made of wood, this Quirk is at a disadvantage against fire.

Super Moves

• Lacquered Chain Prison: Shinji shoots out the wood from one of his arms and surrounds the enemy with it to immobilize them. This move is first used against an unnamed enemy.
