We're all going to die anyway... There's no point in living.
~ Kanazawa in the City chapter.

Kanazawa is a character of the Girls' Last Tour series. Firstly encountered by Chito and Yuuri in Episode 3 of the anime, Kanazawa is an avid cartographer who seeks to chart the layers of the megacity ruins and the entire post-apocalyptic world, as he is shown to have a bag full of his maps of the megacity that he has hand-drawn.

Kanazawa is voiced by Akira Ishida, who voiced other characters including Byakuya Togami and Ultimate Imposter in Danganronpa series and Gaara in Naruto. He is voiced by Mark X. Laskowski in English.

Kanazawa appears to be a middle-aged man of an average height, who has black hair and is seen wearing round-rimmed glasses. He is seen wearing a clothing that consists of a black jacket, black pants, black boots, and black gloves. On his initial appearance in Episode 3, Kanazawa is seen with a camera, a brown backpack containing his handwritten maps of the megacity, and a gray backpack. Kanazawa is also seen wearing a goggles to his eyes that serves as a screem, to which it is connected to the camera, so that it minimizes his need to align his head when capturing an image.

Biography[]

Girls' Last Tour[]

Kanazawa is firstly encountered by Chito and Yuuri in the "Encounter" chapter while bombing one of the abandoned buildings with an explosive, as means to be used as a bridge to visit the other side of the chasm.

During the "City" chapter, a malfunctioning elevator to the next layer causes his backpack full of maps to fall down , causing him to lose most of his hard work, slowly driving him to depression, but Yuuri later cheers him up.

Later on, in the "Streetlights" chapter, Kanazawa gives them his camera to Chito and Yuuri before leaving the two alone.

Fate[]

In the "Memories" chapter, Chito and Yuuri mentioned Kanazawa, as they visit the drawers that later turn out to be graves of the deceased, whom Yuuri states that he and Ishii will be most likely forgotten.

In the "Connection" chapter, both Chito and Yuuri later used Kanazawa's camera within the submarine, where it later connects into the submarine's computers, revealing a plethora of folders containing images. Chito then sees a picture of Kanazawa and an unknown woman beside him, as well as other pictures of the same woman, before they see more pictures and videos of the past events that happened in their world, particularly including wars, family photos, news broadcasts, wars, etc.

Later on, in the "Companion"/"Friends" chapter, the giant Eryngii reveals that both Chito and Yuuri are the only survivors left in the current stratum that they are in within the megacity. Whether Kanazawa has passed away or not is unknown.
