Kara is one of three main protagonists (alongside Connor and Markus) of of Quantic Dream's 2018 video game Detroit: Become Human.
She is the main protagonist of her story arc, a supporting character in Connor's story arc, and a minor character in Markus' story arc.
She is an AX400 android, a housekeeper android model developed by CyberLife and serves the Williams Family, but will get to deviancy upon to the players' choice. Throughout her storyline, her main goal is to make a better life for Alice after escaping and/or killing her abusive father and live in happiness in a better place.
Kara is voiced and motion-captured by Valorie Curry, who also portrays Emma Hill in The Following, Dot Everest in The Tick, and Katherine Solomon in The Lost Symbol.
Biography[]
Before Detroit: Become Human[]
Kara is one of the AX400 androids, a housekeeper android designed and developed by CyberLife to take care of a house, do the cooking and take care of children. One day, she was bought by Todd Williams, a former taxi driver that had lost his jobs because of androids and development of technology. Her name is given by Todd's daughter, Alice. Todd is a abusive father and owner and will constantly abuse both Alice and Kara, breaking the latter multiple times. Each time she was broke, Kara was sent to a CyberLife shop to be repaired and come back to the Williams House, with her memory restored.
Detroit: Become Human[]
A New Home Chapter[]
Kara is at the android store and is reset after being repaired after one of Todd's multiple outbreaks. Her owner goes to took her back home and there, he explains her what she has to do in the house : do the washing, the cooking and take care of Alice. As Todd smokes Red Ice and screams after her and Alice, Kara cleans the house downstairs and do optional chores that might give the player key information for the following of the game. She then clean upstairs and when she finishes, she finds Todd abusing Alice and ordering her to say that she hates him. However, Alice crying calms Todd and he hugs her, telling her to forgive him.
Stormy Night Chapter[]
Kara serves dinner to Alice and Todd, then waits for new instructions. Suddenly, Todd gets mad about their living and how much he hates androids for taking his job, then how his wife left him for a accountant. He then blames Alice for it, flipping the dinner table then slapping her. Alice then flees to her bedroom as Todd yells at her to come back. When Kara tries to go upstairs to comfort Alice, Todd orders her to stay here, or he will smash her worse than last time. Kara obeys his instructions, but upon realizing that Todd will inflict bodily harm on Alice, she has the choice to force herself to deviate. If she breaks her programming, she has the options of reasoning Todd or go upstairs and protect Alice. In any case, she ends up deciding they have to flee, with the plan's success being determined by the players.
If she do not, or deviate but don't save Alice in time, Todd will go upstairs and beat Alice to death, then blames Kara for it (if he didn't kill her in the stairs for interposing), despite clearly doing so and he smashes her, ending her storyline.
Kara can also fight Todd with a gun, resulting in her or Alice shooting and killing Todd, or flee the house through a bus, the success of the latter option also being determined by the players.

Trivia[]
- Kara realized that Alice was an android from the start, but her programming was glitching from the repairs; causing her to bury the memory. She also misses the obvious clues that Alice is an android; such as the lack of hunger and being referred to with non human descriptions.
- Kara has a selfish ending. If her relationship with Alice is low enough, she can abandoned Alice when soldiers attack the hideout, or where she hides among the deactivated androids to save herself; abandoning Alice, while getting away, though she regrets it upon seeing a poster advertisement for the same model android for Alice.
