Kasane Randall (Japanese カサネ・ランドール) is the main protagonist of the video game Scarlet Nexus and its anime adaptation.
She was voiced by Asami Setō in Japanese and Erica Mendez in English.
Appearance[]
Kasane has long, grey hair with a red eyes and matching flower hair ornament Naomi made for her. She opts to wear the Shinobi variant of the black military uniform, Dawn White Battle Attire and a number of other outfits. Shinobi consists of a shoulderless shirt with sleeves and grey leggings - based on Naomi's suggestion. She has a hood which she uses when Brain Drive is activated.
Personality[]
Kasane is calm and confident yet very close person to those who doesn't know all that well, remaining indifferent and often unaware of social cues. The only person that Kasane spoke freely is her adoptive sister, Naomi Randall.
Past[]
It allegedly said that Kasane has lost her parents during the Others' assault when she was a child. However, this past turned to be a false detail.
Her true past is that she was created from Togetsu as one of the Design Children (the clones who has the genes from the founder of Togetsu Faith, Dr. Hitoyo Pope) and was raised by her adoptive mother, Wakana (Yuito's mother) as well had a puppy until the Design Children attacked them for Kasane's psychokinesis from the red strings. She was placed into a cryogenic sleep and later was adopted to the Randall family (who treated her poorly) but has a good relationship with her newly adoptive sister, Naomi Randall.
Kasane enrolled to the OSF and became the highest rank cadet in her class.
Background[]
Kasane help Yuito to fight against the Others who invaded Suoh. She gave Yuito a Baki Keychain as a gift.
She and her foster sister, Naomi became members of the Kyoka Platoon. However, in the Abandoned Subway: Suoh Line 9, Naomi saved Kasane and took the shot to become an Other. She fought and defeated "Kodama Melone" (Yuta Melone who is Kodama's elder twin sister) but Naomi was taken to Seiran. In the Kunad Highway, she fought and was defeated by former Major General Karen as well time travel 50 years of the alternate future. She met the future Yuito and was explained his powers has let the Kunad Gate to swallow up the Earth. The Others and many people died as well his father Joe Sumeragi, was assassinate (believing it was Kasane). The Future Yuito asked Kasane to kill his present self to destroy the Kunad Gate (although she refused).
When returning to her time, she discovered Kagero killed Chairman Joe. She fought Yuito (who mistakenly believe Kasane killed his father) but escaped when she failed to unwillingly kill him. After being branded as a traitor by the New Himuka Government, Kasane and her newly Platoon went to Seiran only for the sake of Naomi, not for them. Kasane and her Platoon went to the MIzuhagawa Construction Site as fought and defeated Kodama Melone. She and her Platoon later going to Kikuchiba to kill Yuito only their fight to be interrupted by Major General Fubuki and Yuta Melone. She returned to the Museum Ruins to fill up the cargo truck only discovered all of the boxes contained human's heads. When hearing Yuito and his Platoon are heading to the Museum Ruins, they fought once more but also ended and left to see Naomi.
After visiting Naomi, Kasane and her Platoon decided to leave Seiran and going to Togetsu. Kasane (along with Arashi and Shiden) were captured by the Design Children and was betrayed by Kyoka (who is actually a Togetsu spy). She then remembered her origins from Togetsu. Kasane was rescued by Kagero to escape from Togetsu. She contacted Yuito (who also came to Togetsu due to him and his Platoon being branded as traitors too by New Himuka Government) to not let BABE to obtain his brain and asked him to free Shiden and Arashi. With the help from Yuito and his Platoon, Kasane (along with Kagero, Arashi and Shiden) escaped from Togetsu but fought and defeated the traitorous Kyoka. When Kyoka regained her sense and rejoined the Platoon, Kasane and her Platoon to rally up to Yuito and the others. Kasane revealed to Yuito the reason why she was attempting to kill him because his powers effected the Kunad Gate when she was told by his future self. When Hanabi asked if Kasane is one of the Design Children (since Yuito and his team saw a Design Child who has the same face as Kasane), Kasane confirmed she is a Design Child, much of the unexpectedly surprises from her Platoon.
Kasane and her Platoon headed to to Mizuhagawa Construction Site to save Naomi and the people who also became Others. She and her Platoon fought and defeated Yuta (who disguised herself as Fubuki) and her twin sister, Kodama. When they have no way to escape from the assault, Naomi and the human turned others sacrificed their lives to save Kasane and her Platoon. They've encountered Karen (who absorbed Kasane's power from her brain). Kasane and her Platoon secretly infiltrated Suoh where they contracted with Haruka's twin brother, Wataru to head for Arahabaki to help Yuito and his Platoon. Once they are half way to Yuito and his allies, Kasane and her Platoon saw the video that was forced transmitted by Yuito of the New Himuka Government's actions. When arrived, Kasane and the two Platoons helps Yuito regain his memories and stabilized his condition. They work together to destroy the Kunad Gate. When they head to Suoh, they witnessed the angry citizens (who were being tricked by the Government) against the NDF and Chief Kaito Sumeragi. Before returning to Togetsu, Kasane tells Yuito's Platoon that Kagero killed Joe Sumeragi and she has nothing to do with this much of their dismays.
When proven to be half-innocent, Yuito forgiven Kasane for falsely doubted her of his father's assassination. However, Kasane told Yuito that he doesn't need to apology when it was her fault for not telling him earlier. Kasane, Yuito and their Platoons headed to Togetsu to destroy BABE. When returned to the Kunad Highway, Kasane travelled 11 years to the past in order to save both the young Yuito and Wakana (her adoptive mother) as well bring Wakana to her timeline to destroy the Kunad Gate. Kasane and Yuito headed to the Kunad Gate to unravel the entanglements from the Chronos Terminal not before they saw Yakumo Sumeragi was assassinated by Karen from the future. Unable to unravel the final entanglement, Wakana returned back to her time to commit suicide by implanting the Red String in her brain. However, the Kunad Gate is still not destroyed.
Kasane, Yuito and their platoons headed back to Suoh to enter the Sumeragi Tomb to search for Karen. They fought and defeated the former major general to help them destroying the Kunad Gate (only for him to unravel the final entanglement where he sacrificed his own life). The Extinction Belt disappeared from across the Earth. Alice Ichijo (who Karen thought she turned into an Other) is shown to be alive. In the Ending, Yuito and Kasane discussed their future plans and holds hands with their Red Strings.

- Kasane Randall may have been inspired by Raphtalia from The Rising of the Shield Hero as they both are voiced by Asami Setō in the Japanese dubs and by Erica Mendez in the English dubs.
