Kate Lockley is a character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff. She is a police detective who acts as a reluctant ally to Angel.
Biography[]
Kate first met Angel when they were both investigating a murder. She suspectcted he was the killer but after being rescued by him from the real culprit they became friends and worked together to fight crime. Kate had a diffcult relationship with her father Trevor but she was devastated when he died, developing a hatred for Angel as it had been a vampire who killed Trevor.
This blinded her judgement in a number of cases, including when Angel was framed for murder. She immediately tried to put him behind bars and only relented after Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, Cordelia Chase and Charles Gunn explained how he could not possibly have been responsible.
Kate put aside her differences with Angel to save LA from Zombie officers but this backfired as it led to her being fired from her job. She bitterly blamed Angel but accepted he was a good person after he saved her from an attempted suicide and they reconciled.
