Kay Faraday (Japanese: Mikumo Ichijou) is a supporting character in the Ace Attorney franchise, being one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Dick Gumshoe) in the Investigations duology.
She is a young self-proclaimed "great thief," and assistant to Miles Edgeworth, who often gives valuable information to Edgeworth to help solve his case.
She was voiced by Ayumi Fujimura in Japanese.
Overview[]
Kay goes by the title of "The Great Thief Yatagarasu", something that she inherited from her father who she believed had been the original Yatagarasu. In actuality, it was a three-person group that went by one identity, and included her father. As a thief, she wishes to steal only "the truth," by stealing evidence of corruption and then sending said evidence to the media with her calling card. She calls herself the "Modern Robin Hood," due to her similar motivations of being a "noble thief" who steals from people who "deserve" it, to help the world. Despite calling herself a thief, she has yet to actually commit any type of illegal acts, and has instead come to the conclusion that she should stop chasing the original Yatagarasu's shadow and help to expose the truth in her own way. Consequently, she realized that she already has an unbeatable three person group to "steal" the truth with, in the form of Miles Edgeworth, Dick Gumshoe, and herself. However she still continues to go by the title of The Great Thief Yatagarasu.
Personality[]
Despite calling herself a thief and making jokes about stealing various items, her only real heist is to steal the role of Edgeworth's assistant from Gumshoe and Ema Skye. Justified, given that the Yatagarasu is a noble thief who swipes information and dirty secrets, not material possessions.
During the period when she was an amnesiac, Kay became far more introverted and was constantly wracked with guilt over the crime she had supposedly committed, as well as the sacrifices Edgeworth made in order to protect her.
Abilities[]
Described as a "mysterious thief," she owns a device called the "Little Thief" that allows her to create life-sized holograms of rooms and other scenes. It belonged to her late father Byrne Faraday, who used it during his tenure as the Yatagarasu to plan information heists.
