|~ Kazim to Dr. Jones.|
Kazim was an antagonist hero in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
He was portrayed by the Armenian actor Kevork Malikyan.
Descending from royalty, by 1938 Kazim was the leader of the Brotherhood Of The Cruciform Sword, which for over 1,000 years had sworn to keep the Holy Grail safe. Learning that the Nazis were trying to uncover the Holy Grail used by Jesus Christ during the Last Supper, Kazim and his agents worked to disrupt the work of Henry Jones Sr. to keep the Grail from being rediscovered.
After the elder Jones disappeared Kazim and his people attacked Indiana Jones, but Kazim called them off after learning that the younger Jones was not so much seeking the Cup of Christ, but was instead seeking his father.
|“||A messenger from God. For the unrighteous, the cup of life holds everlasting damnation.||„|
|~ Kazim's last words.|
Kazim was the last of the Brotherhood to die. Before dying he warned Donovan and Doctor Elsa Schneider that the Grail would destroy them should they drink from it.
- Originally, the character of Kazim was named Kemal, and was an agent working for the Hatay government. Originally he was going to be a villainous ally of the Nazis who suffered what would become Walter Donovan's fate. During the rewrites his name was changed to Kazim, and instead of seeking the Grail for his own ends he was made a protector of it instead.
- Kevork Malikyan had intended to audition for the role of Sallah in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but was late for his audition with Spielberg.
