The unnamed Keeper of the Looking Glass Graveyard is a minor protagonist in the Disney animated series, The Owl House. He is the elderly guardian of the Galdorstones and the most recent one to take up this job in a long line of Illusionists.

He is voiced by Christopher Swindle.

Appearance[]

The Keeper is an elderly witch with a mostly bald head, a spiky white beard, yellowish sclerae and blue eyes. His ears are droopy unlike most witches. He wears a dark turqouise top with a charm of a broken mirror, a dirty teal robe that is ripped, a light blue and sage cloak with white sleeves, as well as brown shoes. He is also covered in cobwebs. In the epilogue, he now wears a scholar's hat to signify his role as a teacher.

Personality[]

While he acts as the guardian of the Galdorstones, the Keeper is a rather affable and eccentric old man, being pleasantly surprised by being bested by Gus instead of showing any concern for the Galdorstones. He also shows an appreciation of strong magic users, complimenting Gus's skill despite his young age. However, the Keeper seems willing to use lethal force as he offers to summon some unseen hounds to drive Bria and her posse off.

Biography[]

Background[]

At some point in the past, the Keeper was selected to guard the Galdorstones and the graves of its former guardians. This was because Illusionists are unable to enhance their spells using the stones, and thus are the least likely to be corrupted by their power. The Keeper would drive off intruders with an illusionary monster that summoned lightning bolts to attack people.

The Owl House[]

The Keeper debuts in "Into the Looking Glass Ruins", using his monster to frighten Bria, Gavin, Angmar, Gus and Mattholomule. However, Gus quickly sees through the illusion and conjures an identical monster, causing the Keeper to reveal himself and compliment the boy's skills. Bria quickly takes advantage of the situation and restrains Gus and the Keeper with plant magic while the trio loot the graveyard. Fortunately, Mattholomule, having gained a respect for Illusion magic thanks to Gus saving him previously, frees them. The Keeper offers to call the hounds on the Glandus students, but Gus suggests an alternative. Working together, the three lure Gavin and Angmar away from the ruins and scare Bria off with an illusion of the ruins coming to life, after which the Keeper considers permanently concealing the ruins. Mattholomule and Gus convince him otherwise thanks to its historical value, and instead offer to help build its defences to which the Keeper agrees.

The Keeper cameos in "Follies at the Coven Day Parade", manning the Illusion Coven's float. However, he is soon revealed on it eating a sandwich, causing him to summon an illusionary flock of doves and disappear.

The Keeper makes his final appearance in the epilogue of "Watching and Dreaming". After the defeat of Emperor Belos and the abolishment of the Coven system (or at least its mandatory participation), the Keeper now works as a teacher at Eda's University of Wild Magic, teaching students about historical sites such as the Looking Glass Ruins.
