Kenji Miyazawa is a supporting protagonist in the action mystery/supernatural manga and anime series Bungo Stray Dogs. He is one of the youngest members of the Armed Detective Agency who possesses superhuman strength and durability, titled "Undefeated by the Rain."
He is voiced by Hiroyuki Kagura in the Japanese version, and by Lucien Dodge in the English version of the anime.
Appearance[]
Kenji is a 14-year-old boy with gold eyes and slightly long blonde hair that reaches past the nape of his neck, along with hair bangs that are gathered at the middle of his forehead. Given his youthful age, he has freckles across his cheeks. Due to his humble upbringing, he wears a farmer outfit: blue overalls with a black undershirt that is overlapped by his loose beige shirt, black belt, a straw hat that hangs on the back of his neck, and a pair of yellow flip flops.
Personality[]
Hailing from a rustic farming village in Ihatovo, Kenji is a friendly and hospitable boy who never fails to greet everyone with a smile, which is the reason why he is popular among the residents of Yokohama, especially his Agency comrades. In addition to his rural background, he is unable to understand basic urban concepts that city people use nowadays. According to Kunikida, Kenji's ways as a member of the Agency are too strange to be considered a "good example" for a newcomer to learn from, such as Atsushi. Regardless, Kenji puts his trust in the Agency's purpose, as he is more than willing to risk his life to protect the President and fight the Port Mafia and other terrorist organizations.
Ability[]
Undefeated by the Rain - This ability possesses Kenji superhuman strength, capable of lifting and overturning large and heavy objects, as well as pulling street signs from cement. It also possesses durability as he is immune from getting injured by a large number of bullets. The downside of his ability, on one hand, Kenji ends up sleeping with a full stomach; on the other hand, it requires an empty stomach to activate his ability.
Trivia[]
- After Kyouka joined the Agency (born on November 4), Kenji is the second-youngest member (born on August 27).
- The name of his hometown is a reference to the fictional land that was created by his namesake, basing it off from Iwate Prefecture (the latter's homeplace).
- His family motto is "If a cow defies you, strike it with something handy."
