Khaji-Da, also known as The Scarab, is an alien technology created by the Reach and by being the armor of the superhero Blue Beetle. It was found by Dan Garret, who was able to access a portion of the scarab's power, it later attached itself to Jaime Reyes, Garret's successor.
His first appearance was in Blue Beetle (Volume 3) #1. (1984).
Khaji-Da was created by a civilization of alien conquerors who came into conflict with the Green Latern Corps, with the Scarabs to take over the host and infiltrate the planet from within.
The Reach sent this Scarab to Earth that came into the possession of a Eqyption Pharaoh Kha-Ef-Re, who used its powers to protect his people from any evil that would harm the kingdom he ruled. It would be safely buried inside the Pharaoh's tomb.
Blue Beetle[]
Centuries later, an archaeologist named Dan Garrett had reached to the tomb were the Scarab was waited atop Kha-Ef-Re's sarcophagus and attached itself on Dan, granting him the powers and name of the Blue Beetle that he used to fight crime against any villains and monsters.
After Dan's passing; his student, Ted Kord, had retrieved the Scarab so he could use it to follow in Dan Darrett's legacy. But even though he couldn't activated it's power, he still became the second Blue Beetle without it. Instead he kept it for further study.
It was until Ted Kord's death that it would be passed on to a high school student in El Paso, Texas named Jaime Reyes as it's current Host and the third Blue Beetle.
