Wave your hands in the air, everybody!

That's going to mess with your dating time. That's mating time. And how is it going to look, watching TV with Uncle Fester?
~ Play.

Kid N' Play are the main protagonists of the 1990 American hip-hop black comedy film series House Party.

Kid was played by Christopher "Kid" Reid and Play was played by Christopher "Play" Martin.

Personality[]

They are both known for being exuberant characters in their own way. They're also seen being a duo of hustlers who try to make money in their music business by doing it in the old-fashioned way: being unethical, sleazy and telling lies to musicians.

Kid is simply a fun-loving, plucky nice guy with his signature Eraserhead haircut and often serves as a straight man (as well as an ingratiating everyman) who is just cool enough to keep a solid group of friends, but is also just enough of an outcast for bullies to target the most. He often seeks to find some fun anywhere, or otherwise find some stability within his life even if it means sneaking out the house, and yet he's typically being tormented by Stab and his brothers, lured into Play's stupid schemes, surrounded by unpleasant relatives, or is being given plain old bad luck. He also appears to let out high pitched shrieks whenever he's in pain, but nevertheless, he proves to be conscientious individual, which he had gotten from his father. Despite all that Kid goes through, he does get to kiss his crush Sydney in her bedroom before he leaves her place to avoid being caught by her parents, and he does get his bullies to help him in the second film.

Play often has the personality of a confident party host. While he can be selfish and manipulative, sly and sneaky, somewhat of a jerk and often a streetwise hustler working all the angles, he ultimately means very well and has shown genuine care like when he sold his Mustang to recoup Kid's college fund. He is also often a Casanova who is either surrounded by tons of women, or is often found himself sleeping around them.
