The King of the World (国王, Koku-Ō?), known as King Furry in the English version, is a minor character in the Dragon Ball franchise. He is the current king of the Earth, dedicated to maintaining order on his planet, as well the leader of the Royal Defense Army, dedicated to protecting the Earth from potential threats.
King Furry was voiced by late Joji Yanami in Japanese, Richard Newman and Dale Wilson in the Ocean Group dubs, Kyle Hebert in the Funimation dub and Steve Olson in the Blue Water dub.
Biography[]
Dragon Ball[]
King Furry makes his first appearance during the King Piccolo Saga, where he is celebrating his 20th anniversary as the king, when King Piccolo bursts into the celebrations. The army attempts to stop him but they are uncapable to do anything against the power of the demon. Because of this, King Furry decides to abdicate on him to prevent more victims. King Furry witnesses the massacre that Piccolo intends to cause feeling frustrated for not being able to do anything until Goku arrives and kills the demon king. King Furry, being very grateful to him, wants to award him with the Blue Star Medal, his highest honor, but Goku leaves before recieving this.
King Furry makes a minor appearance in the Piccolo Jr. Saga, when he lears about that King Piccolo has a son that wants to avenge his father in the Tenkaichi Budokai. King Furry is worried for this but then the threat is defeated by Goku.
Dragon Ball Z[]
In the Saiyan Saga, although he does not make any appearance, King Furry sends his army to defeat the Saiyans Vegeta and Nappa, but the latter defeats the squad easily.
In the Cell Saga King Furry sends his army to destroy Cell in Gingertown, but they were killed easily. Later he sends an air squadron to launch a massive attack on Perfect Cell in the games arena, only to be all killed by the Bio-Android. In view of all this, King Furry issues a statement to alert people of the threat. When the Z-Fighters appears in the Cell Games, King Furry is one of the few people who is not laughing at them and instead recognizes Goku at the child who defeated King Piccolo and Piccolo Jr. as the son of King Piccolo. During the fight between Cell and Gohan, the Royal Defense Army is ready to launch another attack, but King Furry stops them and decides to trust in Gohan, who finally defeats the monster.
In the Majin Buu Saga, King Furry sends the army to fight against Majin Buu, but they were easily defeated by him. Then he is killed by Super Buu along most of the earthlings but then he is revived by Porunga. Later he is seen giving his energy to Goku for the Super Spirit Bomb to defeat Kid Buu.
Dragon Ball GT[]
At the End of the Baby Saga, King Furry collaborates with the Z-Fighters to evacuate all the Earthlings to New Platet Plant before the Earth explodes for the usage of the Black-Star Dragon Balls.
In the Super 17 Saga he makes a statement on television to try to control the situation after the portal between Earth and Hell is opened, allowing many villains to conquer the Earth.
In the Shadow Dragon Saga, King Furry makes a statement when Syn Shenron causes the destruction of the Earth when a ray destroys his castle, although is unknown if he dies by this or not, he would be revived by Shenron in any case.
