King Sonic Maurice Hedgehog is the main protagonist of the "Mobius: 25 Years Later" story from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series by Archie.
He is Sonic's counterpart from a possible future dubbed "Light Mobius". After Dr. Eggman's death, he became the king of Mobius, but had to travel back in time to avert a cataclysm, which led to the timeline beign rewritten with him going missing and Shadow coming to power. Sonic thus had to team up with his estranged friends to bring freedom to his people.

Original timeline[]
In the near future, Dr. Eggman was killed by Chaos Knuckles, who proceeded to reshape Mobius in his image. Sonic had to use a Chaos Nullifier on Knuckles, costing him an eye. With Robotnik gone, Mobius finally found peace. Sonic and Sally married, had two children under the names "Manik" and "Sonia", and eventually ascended to the Acorn throne. At some point, Sonic and Tails grew estranged to the point of not speaking to each other for years.
In 3261, Sonic was informed of a cataclysm threatening the space-time continium itself, as a consequence of his time and dimension travels over the decades. He thus had to abandon his family life for a while and venture to the Tachyon Chamber to travel to the past and save the world from destruction. When the chamber got activated, however, something went wrong and Sonic vanished.
Altered timeline[]
By travelling to the past, Sonic averted the cataclysm threatening his reality, but at a great cost. Somehow, the timeline was altered so that Sonic vanished in the closing days of Second Robotnik War. Without his guidance, Shadow turned to the dark side and conquered Mobius, establishing an oppressive regime. And since Sonic and Sally never married, their children no longer existed.
In 3262, Tails and Lara-Su found Sonic in the slums, and offered him to team-up against Shadow. They were captured by Knuckles while trying to infiltrate the royal castle, but he turned out to have been on their side as well. Sonic fought Shadow, but couldn't handle him due to his age catching up to him, so Lara-Su had to use Chaos Control to freeze the wicked king in time. Sonic and Sally reunited at last. The hedgehog would claim the throne and father Manik and Sonia the next year.
In 3267, King Sonic attended a ceremony celebrating five years of peace during his rule, during which King Shadow's sympathisers, the Dark Presence, staged an attempt on his life. The royal family was saved by the time-travelling hero Silver. Eventually, the Dark Presence would invade Castle Mobius and release Shadow from his prison. In turn, Shadow released Tikhaos, intending it to destroy most of the world so that survivors would accept his rule. Sonic, banding together with his old friends and their children, defeated the water beast, saving the world yet again.

- An alternate, earlier version of King Sonic, also married to Sally with two children, hails from the same timeline Nicole and Dr. Eggman originate from. He and his family perished when Robo-Robotnik nuked Mobotropolis.
