“ | Kit: I told you. I do not make a great partner. Ratchet: Sure, that was intense, but...it was kind of awesome. Kit: You do not understand. You are not safe around me. I was built to be a weapon. To keep the Emperor's galaxy "secure". One night on patrol, I spotted a rebel in the Imperial Zone. So I tried to..."stop" them. That is what I was built to do. Hurt. I am here to everyone safe from me. |

KT-7461, or better known as Kit, is the tritagonist of the 2021 video game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. A war robot designed to be part of Emperor Nefarious's army, Kit was terrified of the suffering she alone could inflict, forcing her into exile away from the violence and chaos until an inter-dimensional incident forces him out of his self-imposed exile. She is also Clank's dimensional counterpart and Rivet's best friend and partner.
She is voiced by Debra Wilson who also voiced Cere Junda in Jedi Fallen Order.
Personality[]
“ | Why do none of you understand?! I am broken. I will always BE broken! | „ |
~ Kit about herself. |
Similar to Clank, Kit is primarily logical, pragmatic, sympathetic, and kind-hearted but is vastly more emotional and guilt-ridden as evidenced by her habit of doubting herself at every moment, that same atypical emotivity of a Warbot is what got her out of the Nefarious camp. She doesn't think highly of herself, belittling herself even when others believe in her. When Kit and Rivet got into a fight, Kit openly identified herself as something "Broken" and claimed that no one was able to see her. She also has a talent for improvisation.
In her time in the Nefarious Army, Kit wasn't particularly bad, just going along with her lineup without really knowing right and wrong. When she tried to stop Rivet's infiltration by shooting her, Kit was horrified that she almost killed someone and realized how dangerous she was, prompting her to go into exile never to do don't harm no one again. When she enters Warbot mode, Kit struggles to control herself to the point that she shoots immediately but over time, she retains more control of herself until fully controlled in the final fight.
Ever since she hurt Rivet, Kit despises herself to the point of thinking that no one is safe with her around, except maybe the monks of Savali. Upon meeting Ratchet and Rivet, she was reluctant to team up with them and claimed that it was only temporary each time. Her doubts also prevent her from accepting friendship but following Ratchet's advice, she began to open up more to others, the first being Rivet with whom she got along quite quickly but still preferred not to overdo linked with Lombax.
When she realized that Rivet was the rebel she had severely injured, Kit felt ashamed and preferred to keep the truth from Rivet. After her capture and the discovery of her horrible secret, Kit became even more bitter with herself and chose to go back into hiding instead of continuing the fight against the two Nefarious, while admitting to Rivet that she was truly sorry for what she had done to her.
After overcoming both her shame and remorse for past actions, Kit eventually returned during the final battle to help her friends. After Emperor Nefarious was defeated, Kit reconciled with Rivet, becoming both partners and close friends.
Background[]
History[]
Created by Emperor Nefarious as a Warbot in his army, KT-7461 patrolled around the Nefarious Tower when she spotted a rebel named Rivet trying to enter it. She then tried to stop her using her laser vision but only injured her. Instead of finishing the job, KT-7461 was simply horrified by what she had just done, allowing the injured rebel to escape. Judging herself as a dangerous monster inflicting suffering on others, the female robot defected from Nefarious' weapon and found refuge on Savali, with Gary and the monks.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart[]
KT-7461 was on the records when mercenaries and the army of Nefarious attacked Savali. She falls from the moving building before being rescued by Ratchet, a Lombax from another dimension who has come to Savali to recreate a Dimensionator. The two teamed up to retrieve the archives and save the monks despite the reluctance of the old Warbot. Once inside to verify that the dimensional map was safe, Ratchet noticed that this technology came from his missing people, prompting KT-7461 to ask if he misses the Lombaxes while claiming that one day he will find them. She then showed plans to remake a Dimensionator on the condition of using Kedaro's Forge. At the time, KT-7461 finally accepted the nickname Kit by Ratchet because she preferred that name.
A second wave of the Robot Army against the Archives forced Kit back into Warbot mode to fend off the invaders. The threat dismissed, she almost shoots Ratchet, shocking her to the point of turning into her basic form and beginning to see herself as a threat again while recounting her tragic past at Lombax. Ratchet is not afraid of her, however, and convinces her to continue teaming up. Kit accepts but specifies that it is only temporary.
Arriving at Kedaro, Kit is mesmerized by the beautiful ocean and Ratchet tells him that she will be able to see an entire universe once the Dimensionator is recreated, only for Kit to question her about the danger of the unknown. Ratchet then shares with her his own uncertainty about when he will see his people again, a feeling Kit alleviates by putting his hand on Ratchet's. They quickly find themselves confronted with the army of Nefarious while using the blizons to change dimension continuously to better advance in the forge. During their journey, Kit listens to Ratchet continue his fear of disappointing his people if they see them again and losing his pleasant life in his dimension. After reaching the Rubion Forge and fooling the worker robots, Ratchet accidentally disrupts the forge by activating auxiliary mode, causing the forge to explode and bringing in enemy robots. They flee to another dimension and use their own Rubion Forge while facing off against the creatures that roam there. The Dimensionator finally built, Ratchet calls Kit a great partner.
Ratchet and Kit then go to Zurkie to find Rivet and Clank who have meanwhile collected the phasic quartz needed to power the Dimensionator. The two Lombaxes are shy towards each other while the two robots quickly get along well. Kit and Rivet greet each other awkwardly afterwards. Unfortunately, Dr. Nefarious ambushes them with his counterpart's minions and takes the Dimensionator from them, which he later completes. Kit and Rivet take on Dr. Nefarious, sparking a fight across dimensions until the evil robot is brought down. The real Emperor Nefarious suddenly appears, grabs the Dimensionator and easily brings the quartet to the ground with his telekinesis before leaving with Dr. Nefarious through a breach. Now faced with two Nefarious, the girls leave for Sargasso while the boys go in search of Captain Quantum.
As Sargasso approaches, Rivet and Kit wonder about Ratchet and Clank's relationship which may reflect theirs but their lonely habits discourages them from believing it. Upon entering the atmosphere, they discover an Emperor's mothership attacking the Morts. Once the enemy forces on the ground are defeated, Kit enters a dimensional anomaly, releasing a centipede robot repaired by the Morts so that they too can launch into battle. They then ride on Trudi's back and take turns destroying battle cruisers piercing the earth's crust to destroy Sargasso. The battle ends when the last cruiser crashes into the mothership.
Rivet and Kit are cheered by the Morts moments before Emperor Nefarious arrives in person to throw them into a pocket dimension. As they walk towards the breach, Kit notes that Rivet and Nefarious seem to have a long history in common, which Rivet attributes to her long years of struggling to free the galaxy that cost her friends and her right arm. Kit asks her if it was the Emperor who cut off her arm but Rivet explains to her that during an infiltration mission at the Nefarious Tower, a Warbot seriously injured her. Horrified, Kit realizes that it was she who almost killed Rivet a long time ago. She tries to tell the truth to Lombax just so that they go out and return to Sargasso without the secret being revealed.
Upon returning to Zurkie's, Kit and Rivet discover through a hack from the Emperor's Assistant that Emperor Nefarious intends to conquer another dimension using the dimensional map to get there. The two groups then meet on Savali. The girls arrive as the Nefariouses grab the map and throw Ratchet and Clank at Zordoom. With no choice left, Kit goes into Warbot mode to face off against the two evil robots, causing a shocked and angry Rivet to realize that it was Kit who cut off her arm long ago. Rivet's reaction makes Kit even more ashamed of herself before she swarms at the Nefarious just for Dr. Nefarious to throw her at Zordoom with the Dimensionator.
Rivet later comes to save Ratchet, Clank, and Kit from Zordoom after escaping the many dangers of the prison. With her friends saved, Rivet asks Ratchet and Kit to leave her alone with Kit. As Rivet tells Kit that Clank advised her to forgive her, Kit reveals her attention to go back and hide on Savali, regretting having left and apologizing to Rivet for what she did to her, reciting once again that she is not a good partner. Upset by Kit's choice, Rivet berates Kit for going into hiding instead of helping her that night and for not telling the truth that could have made the difference. Kit expresses her frustration that no one can figure out that she is broken and always will be. Disappointed, Rivet leaves Kit behind, claiming that she doesn't need a partner.
As the final battle rages on at Megalopolis in the Main Dimension and Rivet is sure to be killed by Emperor Nefarious' army, Kit saves her in the nick of time. She tells Rivet that she was right, that it was time that she stops fleeing. While Kit holds back the evil robots, Rivet confronts Emperor Nefarious until he prepares to wipe out all dimensions. Kit throws Rivet right at the Evil Emperor, striking him with a heavy hammer that causes him to drop the Dimensionator. Ratchet, Clank, and even Dr. Nefarious then proceed to summon a Kraken that seizes Emperor Nefarious and takes him to another dimension, ending his reign of terror.
Peace is finally restored, Rivet apologizes to Kit for what she told him earlier, really recognizing her as her friend. Happy, Kit reaches out to Rivet and she takes it, forming a team now. Ratchet and Clank then come to see them to offer them other adventures on the way home.

Trivia[]
- Kit, being a Warbot created by the antagonist who then falls into the protagonist camp, makes her somewhat similar to Clank, but the difference being that while Clank was accidentally created in Chairman Drek's factory (in the separate continuity of the 2016 remake/retelling he was created in Chairman Drek's factory but by Dr. Nefarious) without any evil programming, Kit was purposely created for with destructive programming but has turned away from it.
- Kit's ability to take on a giant Warbot form is arguably based on both Clank before the PS3 era and Klunk, an evil Clank lookalike who can also take on a giant Warbot form.
- Kit's color scheme is similar to Bumblebee's from Transformers.
