History[]

Backstory[]

In 2019, Klavier had just become a prosecutor at the age of 17 hoping to battle his older brother Kristoph Gavin in the murder trial of Magnifi Gramarye. However some problems led to Kristoph not being chosen as the defense attorney and he decided to inform Klavier that he would not be attending but that the Defense Attorney chosen was going to present forged evidence unknown to Klavier that he was being set up by Kristoph.

During the trial, Klavier claimed to have decisive proof and a decisive witness that would prove Zak's guilt named Valant Gramarye who claimed that Zak was the true culprit because the IV stand had stopped at 11:10PM which was around the time Zak arrived at the hospital. But Phoenix managed to disprove both the time of death and Valant's credibility by revealing that Valant learnt about Zak being given the rights to Magnifi's magic and decided to frame Zak so that he could claim the rights for himself, forcing Klavier to resort to telling him to prove that Magnifi did continue his diary, prompting Phoenix to present the forged diary page and unknowingly falling into Klavier's trap. Klavier then brought out the forger Drew Misham and told him to explain the diary page. Drew confessed about the page being forged leading Wright to being disbarred and being forced to take up poker for the next 7 years until the events of Turnabout Sucession.

Turnabout Corner[]

In 2026, Klavier met Apollo Justice and Trucy Wright in the murder case of Pal Meraktis while they were trying to get into People Park. He uses his influence to ask the security guard to give them permission to the park due to wanting to see the potential of the defense attorney who convicted his brother two months earlier. During the court battle, Klavier accused Wocky Kitaki of being the culprit due to his strong motive and possessing a knife and a gun on his person. However after a lengthy testimony giving by another witness Wesley Stickler, Apollo proved that the real culprit was not Wocky or Stickler, causing the proceedings to be halted for a day.

During a trip past people's park, Klavier's motorcycle breaks down due to a clog in the exhaust pipe, which he explains to Apollo about how vehicles will not work if the exhaust pipe is clogged, giving him a vital clue that changed the outcome of the second trial. During the second trial, Klavier was still convinced Wocky was the culprit, however Apollo presented logical arguments that pointed towards an unknown 3rd party who was inside the noodle stand at the park. Klavier eventually deduces who the culprit is, and tells Apollo to prove why the stand was going to the park and how the stand was able to hold a person. Apollo eventually proves both of these possibilities, leading to the true culprit being arrested but leaving him feeling whether he earned his victory or if Klavier won for him.

Turnabout Serenade[]

Not too long after the events of Turnabout Corner, Klavier hosts a show at the Sunshine Coliseum which goes well for a while but unfortunately a murder occurs in the coliseum after the show ends causing everyone to be stuck until morning due to police not wanting any potential culprits to escape. However Klavier is less concerned with the Murder and more concerned with the fact that his song 'The Guitar's Serenade' which he performed with Borginian singer Lamiroir was now ruined due to his guitar being set on fire but he eventually calms down after being told by Apollo and Trucy that everyone was convinced it was a part of the song as it matched the lyrics.

During the investigation, Machi Tobaye, who was the blind pianist for the song, was arrested as the suspect for Romein LeTouse's murder, causing Klavier and Apollo to once again face off in court. During the court battle, Klavier seems convinced that Machi is the killer but Apollo proves that the killer was not blind due to the fact that the blood message that the victim left behind was partially wiped and this prompts a Luminol fluid test which proves Le Touse was a Interpol agent due to Klavier's friend Daryan Crescend bringing this information to court. However, Lamiroir suspects Daryan of being the killer during the end of the trial after hearing his voice, which sounded like the same voice she heard when LeTouse was killed, which causes Klavier to suspect his friend but he doesn't think too much of it at the time.

During the second trial, Klavier seems to suspect Daryan in court after Apollo proves his shoulder was damaged, due to firing the 50. Cal magnum that LeTouse kept on him, and that the culprit had a accomplice, leading towards him being the killer but no decisive proof of evidence is found. Instead Justice forces a confession out of him after Machi (who was revealed to not have been blind after all) would prove his guilt by admitting he was Daryan's accomplice in order to avoid getting the death penalty for smuggling a cocoon out of Borginia, causing Klavier to bid farewell to his best friend but is distraught over the case's details of 'The Guitar's Serenade' matching the murder perfectly, causing him to decide to not play the song anymore to prevent future mistakes.

Turnabout Succession[]

Three months after the events of Turnabout Serenade, Klavier is involved in Phoenix Wright's plan to expose Kristoph as the true culprit of the forged diary page, which once again causes him to be put against Apollo Justice as Phoenix chose Klavier as his prosecutor for the trial. During the trial, Klavier eventually calls up Vera Misham as a witness to confirm if she was the real forger behind the page. She confirms it, leading to Klavier asking if the page was also a part of 'a diary with a silk hat icon', which she also confirms, leading Klavier to doubt whether or not Phoenix was truly the culprit behind the forgery as Kristoph's proof was just too perfect to be a coincidence. Unfortunately, Vera passes out after chewing her fingernails due to poisoned nail polish, causing the trial to end early until the next day.

During the second trial, Apollo accuses Kristoph of being Drew's Murderer however, Klavier heavily doubts this at first and does not like that Apollo is accusing his older brother but he goes through with it anyway. During Kristoph's cross examination, Klavier calls out Kristoph as to why did he dodge Apollo's question about the poisoned commemorative stamp and how did he know exactly what evidence Wright was going to present and how did he know who the forger was. After Apollo deduces the method and the motive yet once again having no decisive proof, Klavier reveals to Kristoph it is not up to the Judge to decide the verdict but the Jury which causes Kristoph to become angry but Klavier simply tells him the law doesn't need him anymore and he accepts the fact that his brother is the murderer. After this, he decides to abandon his music career so he can focus on practicing law full time.

Turnabout Academy[]

In 2027, Klavier was invited to a mock trial by Constance Courte and the defense attorney teacher Aristotle Means so that the students could test their skills for future reference, treating Robin Newman to a lesson if she wins against Hugh O' Conner. Klavier was also told if he could put on a special show after the mock trial was over. He agrees to it and asks Juniper Woods if she could help him perform a special acoustic performance of 'The Guitar's Serenade' while wearing an outfit similar to Lamiroir's

During the mock trial, Courte was murdered and Klavier discovered Apollo and Athena Cykes working on the case. Deciding to help them by playing a recreation of the mock trial to help make the facts of the case more definitive but not taking part in the actual trial with Simon Blackquill instead helping Cykes out. After noticing Justice and Cykes at the crime scene again, he helps reassemble two statues that had been broken near the crime scene and then later had an incriminating tape analysed thanks to his connections with the music industry leading it to be revealed as a fake to incriminate Woods.

After the trial, Clavier fulfils his promise of performing for the students with Phoenix, Apollo, and Athena attending later on expressing his hopes towards Woods as a judge, hoping to see her in court one day.

The Magical Turnabout[]

While he does not play a role in this case largely, he is amongst the well wishers for Trucy during her first time on her magical television show, sending her a bouquet of red roses and a trinket with the Gavinners logo on it.

Personality[]

Klavier is a very charismatic man who has impressive musical talent and is good at socially interacting with others, managing to build up a large audience who enjoy both his music and his presence, plus he has a more friendly and welcoming way of interacting in court as he always treats the judge respectfully as well as Apollo unlike almost every other prosecutor in the series, and he is always polite to Apollo and Trucy when he meets them outside of court, even giving them discounted tickets to his show and being okay with Trucy blackmailing him because he finds her charming. He is also shown to like teasing Apollo and Trucy as well as Ema Skye although it is never done with malicious intent and he cares for the two as friends and Ema as a colleague.

He is shown to be honourable, as he was willing to get his best friend and brother convicted if it meant doing the right thing and always aims to find the truth above all else, even having a sense of justice so powerful that Kristoph's words for Phoenix being a forger and him planning to present forged evidence was enough for Klavier to believe Phoenix is corrupt and he ended up framing him for forgery accidentally due to Kristoph's manipulation, which he felt guilty about once he realized that Kristoph was the real culprit behind the forgery. Another example of his sense of justice was when he also allowed Apollo and Trucy into People's Park in order to help them find the culprit behind a seemingly simple crime when an officer forbade them from entering.

While he is usually laid-back, Klavier is a perfectionist when it comes to his music and does not like any flaws to be present, getting extremely annoyed when he believed that 'The Guitars Serenade' was ruined due to his guitar being lit on fire during his performance, and only being calmed down when Apollo and Trucy told him that they thought the guitar burning was intentional as it matched the lyrics of the song.
