Kogoro Mouri, or Richard Moore in the American version, is one of the heroes in Detective Conan/Case Closed.
Kogoro is lecherous womanizer, but still carries a flame for his wife; they are separated, not divorced. He runs his own private detective business and often gambles his payments on the horse track. Despite this, he is a very competent judo practitioner and has taught his daughter Ran how to use his moves. He takes care of Conan as a favor for Dr Agasa, whom claims Conan is a distant relative. He later drops any qualms about it when Conan's mother sends money to help cover expenses.
Kogoro is often knocked out by Conan, whom uses his bowtie voice modulator to mimic him and reveal the solution to cases they are on. He's otherwise very clueless and often thinks a victim or innocent is the perpetrator.
Personality[]
Mouri is shown to be confident in skills as a detective and open to taking on any cases available. In spite of continuously being knocked out by Conan throughout most of the cases and waking up to see the case solved, he usually takes responsibility for solving the crimes and the attention he receives. He is shown, at times, to have a rude attitude often getting annoyed at Conan.
Trivia[]
- Kogoro initially was confused by his blackouts and getting credit for cases he supposedly solved. However, he started going along with the idea that he falls into trances that he cannot remember.
- Everyone is ready to hear his yawn, from Conan's sleeping dart, and has a place for him to sit.
- Kogoro is only a competent detective when he is emotionally invested in a case; being just as good as Conan. He can, however, be just as good if the case is very simple; needing prompts.
- In Smooth Sailing part 1, he was able to correctly figure out how the family head died; minus whom the perpetrator was.
- At his class reunion, Kogoro quickly figured out whom the murderer was; being the first time Conan decided to let him do the job alone.
- When Conan lost his voice to a cold, Kogoro paid attention to his miming to figure out the case.
- Kogoro is often blackout drunk at home, or smokes a lot when out in cases; despite the unhealthy habits, he stays fit enough to perform judo.
- The fact his liver can keep up is shocking.
- He is repeatedly hilariously injured in some way during the series, but heals back to normal without any debilitating old injuries acting up; considering that he's in his 40s, this is a miracle.
- Broken leg
- Singed bottom
- Kicked in the face by Ran (Conan was attempting to get his misfired dart out of her back pocket and she thought a guy was groping her)
