Koji Kashin is a supporting character in Boruto: Naruto Next Generation and the tritagonist in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Biography[]
Koji Kashin is a clone of Jiraiya haven been created as an alternate plan against Isshiki after Amado's plan for using cyborg Outers was shut down by Jigen.
Personality[]
Koji is an enigmatic figure with a stoic and no-nonsense demeanor, driven by a single-minded focus on his goals. While he may seem arrogant, his rationality and perceptiveness are evident in his ability to swiftly assess situations and predict outcomes. Koji is calculating and methodical, yet not infallible—he failed to foresee that Isshiki had seen through his deceptions from the start. Despite this, Koji remains fearless, only mildly intimidated by Isshiki's wrath and even mocking him for failing to fully contain it. His persuasive skills are notable, as he managed to convince the stubborn, loyal, and hot-tempered Kara member, Delta, to follow his lead.
Initially, Koji appeared to be absolutely loyal to Kara, willing to assassinate a colleague on the orders of his leader. He also showed an interest in Boruto Uzumaki. However, his loyalty to Kara was a façade, masking his true objective of eliminating Isshiki Ōtsutsuki. To maintain his cover, Koji engaged in cruel and inhumane acts, such as collecting children to serve as vessels for Isshiki—actions that led to the deaths of all but two. He also threatened the peace established by the Five Great Shinobi Countries by recruiting Inners across the world to support Kara. Throughout these actions, Koji remained indifferent, believing that his heartless deeds were necessary for the greater good. Despite this, Koji refrained from killing unless absolutely necessary, as seen when he chose to escape rather than kill Kakashi Hatake, despite having the power to do so. Although he initially looked down on the shinobi way of life, reprimanding Ao for clinging to it, Koji later showed pride in being a shinobi himself, accepting his role as a tool, which he viewed as part of a shinobi’s duty.
In the anime, Koji exhibits a sense of nostalgia for Konohagakure, possibly inheriting some of his genetic source’s love for the village. Like Jiraiya, Koji is resolute to the point of stubbornness. Even when he realized that Amado never intended for him to go beyond killing Isshiki's vessel, Koji remained confident in his abilities, believing he could defeat the Celestial Being on his own. Even when facing near death in his battle with Isshiki, Koji retained a defiant gaze, never showing fear.
Appearance[]
As a clone of Jiraiya, Koji bears a striking resemblance to the Sannin, though he appears more youthful and in his prime. Unlike Jiraiya’s spiky hair, Koji's white hair is straight and shoulder-length, with the top portion tied into a topknot while the rest flows freely. He is a tall man with a trimmed beard along his jawline and black markings on the corners of his eyes that extend downward to his cheeks, resembling the Roman numeral "Ⅱ". Koji also has a small wart on the left side of his nose. Notably, he wears a mask that conceals the upper half of his face, paired with a black hooded robe with maroon lining, a standard attire for Kara members. Underneath his robes, Koji’s outfits vary depending on the situation. During meetings with Kara and Ao, he wore a long maroon coat with a row of buttons on the right side—left unbuttoned during the Kara meeting but fastened with a belt during his encounter with Ao. Later, when confronting Team Konohamaru, he switched to a shorter maroon jacket with black lining, straps with buckles, a brown tactical belt, armor on his upper right leg, and a pouch on his left hip.
Abilities[]
As a clone of one of the Sannin and an Inner of Kara, Koji is regarded as a formidable force with power and abilities that are considered superhuman. He easily overpowered and defeated one of Konohagakure's top jōnin, demonstrating his exceptional strength. In the anime, even the Sixth Hokage viewed him as a highly troublesome opponent. Among the Inners, Koji is one of the strongest, having effortlessly defeated and killed Victor and confidently believing he could take on Delta. Even Isshiki Ōtsutsuki acknowledged Koji as a highly capable individual. Koji was able to kill Isshiki's vessel after it was severely weakened and even held his own in a direct confrontation with Isshiki himself.
Chakra and Physical Prowess[]
Koji's body has been extensively modified and infused with Scientific Ninja Tools and Shibai Ōtsutsuki’s DNA by Amado, granting him extraordinary abilities. His blazing speed allows him to catch opponents off guard, even from a distance, and his stealth skills are exceptional—he managed to sneak up on the experienced Victor unnoticed and moved around Konohagakure undetected after infiltrating it. Koji is highly proficient in taijutsu, effortlessly countering all of Konohamaru Sarutobi's melee attacks while simultaneously implanting techniques on him without his knowledge. He was even able to hold his own against a heavily weakened Jigen, skillfully exchanging blows and countering his attacks.
Koji is also extremely resilient, capable of surviving severe injuries, including having an arm destroyed and his torso and legs crippled, yet still having the strength to summon a toad and escape. His chakra control is exceptional, allowing him to perform techniques with a single hand, even in a mangled state. Additionally, Koji possesses vast chakra reserves, enabling him to use Sage Mode.
Ninjutsu[]
Koji utilizes ninjutsu from Konohagakure and has inherited his template's mastery at an even greater scale. He can create multiple shadow clones and seamlessly switch places with them to avoid detection. As one of the few users of the Rasengan, Koji easily matches Konohamaru Sarutobi's proficiency and can even perform the Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan. His knowledge of other people's techniques is extensive; he understands the Konohagakure Sensing Barrier and how to bypass it. Additionally, he can manipulate his hair to attack and defend against enemies.
Koji's skill in shurikenjutsu allows him to effortlessly hit a fellow Kara Inner before they can react. He is also proficient in Space–Time Ninjutsu, enabling him to enter Kara's Ten-Tails' dimension at will and carve seals to summon eternally burning natural fire. Koji can summon toads for various purposes, ranging from tiny surveillance toads and mediums for his techniques to giant toads that can crush targets. He can also perform the Reverse Summoning Technique. Uniquely, Koji has summoned naturally occurring phenomena, such as flames, from their origin. He is also adept in fūinjutsu, capable of paralyzing targets within his erected pillars. Additionally, he can produce a smokescreen from his body and launch sticky oil from his mouth.
Nature Transformation[]
Koji can utilize both Fire and Earth Release, demonstrating great mastery in Fire Release. He can perform the True Fire of Samadhi, a technique that causes targets to spontaneously combust upon contact, even through small mediums, with flames strong enough to overcome regeneration and burn indefinitely. Additionally, Koji can unleash a barrage of fireballs from his mouth and imbue his fist with fire to engulf his target in flames upon impact.
With Earth Release, Koji can transform the ground into sinking mud to trap his foes. He also employs Yin Release to use genjutsu, projecting an image of himself to communicate from a distance. Alternatively, he can use genjutsu to extract information from others or cast large-scale illusions to camouflage an area.
Senjutsu[]
Koji can access Sage Mode, unlike his template, with instantaneous precision, achieving a perfect balance of chakra and natural energy. This is evident by the toad-like irides and black pigmentation around his eyes, with no other physical alterations. In Sage Mode, Koji’s physical abilities and sensory perception are greatly enhanced, allowing him to catch a strike from Isshiki Ōtsutsuki and temporarily hold him off before swiftly countering. His ninjutsu is also significantly amplified, enabling him to perform techniques like Sage Art: Five Fire Gods' Fan of Flames, which generated such an overwhelming amount of fire that it momentarily pressured and surprised Isshiki.
Shinjutsu[]
On the brink of death during his battle with Isshiki, Koji awakened the shinjutsu ability he inherited from his implanted Shibai cells: Prescience. This ability grants him future sight, allowing him to perceive multiple possible futures. Using this power, Koji foresaw the casting of Omnipotence, enabling him to realize that his memories of Boruto and Kawaki had been altered. With this foresight, Koji mapped out a plan for optimal results, including designing a training system that significantly enhanced Boruto's strength and expanded his range of techniques in a short period of time.
