Koji Koda (口こう田だ甲こう司じ Kōda Kōji?), also known as the Petting Hero: Anima (ふれあいヒーロー アニマ Fureai Hīrō Anima?), is a supporting character in the My Hero Academia series.
He is a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School who is training to become a Pro Hero.
He is voiced by Takuma Nagatsuka in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Greg Ayres in the English version of the anime.
Koda has a tall and wide physique with a mutant-like appearance with a square jaw and unevenly shaped rock-like head. His horn apparently grows with age and is yet to fully mature.
His hero costume consists of a simple yellow and red suit with a mouth-like symbol on the center. His costume was later updated to include a face-mask with holes in it so he could still use his Quirk, alongside white straps and his shoes being replaced with boots.
Despite his appearance, Koji is actually a quiet, gentle and reserved young man who rarely speaks, and sometimes uses sign-language instead of talking. Likely due to his Quirk, he has a very strong affinity for animals and nature, with him owning animal-themed decorations in his room and even having a pet rabbit. According to Fumikage Tokoyami, he is good at keeping secrets.
Later on in the series, Koji begins to speak more towards his classmates, albeit still remains rather reserved and quiet.
Koji suffers from entomophobia, and shows to be extremely afraid of bugs, despite being able to converse with them like any other animal. However, he was able to overcome this fear in order to help his classmates proceed forward.
- His favorite thing is nature.
- He is the only student in Class 1-A to have a pet which is a white rabbit.
